Hello everybody. Today, the fifteenth day of the quarantine and yesterday Brazil reached the sad mark of a thousand deaths by the CHINESE VIRUS, also known as Covid 19. Today the official count is 1,124 dead and 20,727 infected. I read with sadness that the United States has 19,882 deaths and half a million infected and Italy is right behind with 19,468 deaths and 152,271 infected.
Here in São Paulo, our brilliant and ambitious governor João Doria had the brilliant idea of monitoring (spying) the residents of the state through their cell phones to know who leaves home and where they are going. The astute ruler made a deal with the telephone companies to find out where the citizens are going and forgot to do the same with the more than 1,500 convicts who were released to serve "prison at home" across the state, due to the risk of contamination in prisons . So you see how great it is: arrest the good men and release the criminals. Not to mention that the commerce (stores in general) is prohibited throughout Brazil, but drug traffickers continue to work freely in the open-air Cracolandias spread across the country.
Here at home we look forward to seeing if the quarantine really ends on the 23rd now. Probably not. Most likely, there will be a partial release of street commerce. We'll see.

Olá para todos. Hoje, décimo quinto dia da quarentena e ontém o Brasil atingiu a triste marca de mil mortos pelo VÍRUS CHINÊS, também conhecido como Covid 19. Hoje a contagem oficial soma 1.124 mortos e 20.727 infectados. Leio com tristeza que os Estados Unidos somam 19.882 mortes e meio milhão de infectados e a Itália vem logo atrás com 19.468 mortes e 152.271 infectados.
Aqui em São Paulo, nosso genial e ambicioso governador João Doria teve a brilhante idéia de monitorar (espionar) os moradores do Estado através de seus celulares, para saber quem sai de casa e para onde vão. O astucioso governante fez acordo com as companhias de telefonia para saber aonde vão os cidadãos e esqueceu de fazer o mesmo com os mais de 1.500 condenados que foram libertados para cumprir "prisão em casa" em todo o Estado, devido ao risco de contaminação nas prisões. Então vejam bem que genial: prendam os homens de bem e soltem os criminosos. Sem contar que o comércio, lojas em geral, está proibido em todo o Brasil, mas os traficantes de drogas continuam trabalhando livremente nas Cracolândias à céu aberto espalhadas por todo o país.
Aqui em casa esperamos ansiosos para ver se a quarentena relamente terminará dia 23 agora. Provável que não. O mais provável é que haja uma liberação parcial do comércio de rua. Veremos.

I do hope you get some relief soon. Being able to buy food and medical items is most important. The area I live in is called Rockland County with 5 towns and some villages. Very small area. Yesterday we reached 200 deaths. There is a very large religious group around the area that don't follow the rules very well. They become infected more than the rest of us so that is why our numbers are so high. It is a shame because their practices and traditions keep them close together in large groups. Now is one of their big week long holidays which doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteThey say in New York City the number of hospital patients has leveled off. Maybe that means there is some good times coming!
