Today I present a papercraft model of the racing car Lizard Tempest, also known as Bulldog, one of the vehicles from the video game Rage Racer.
This model was created from a 3D file that I found on the website The Models Resource, a well-known repository among videogame fans that gathers models, sprites and other assets extracted from classic games.
Rage Racer was released in 1996 for the PlayStation (Sony console) and is part of the famous racing series that began with Ridge Racer. Unlike realistic racing simulators, the game follows a fully arcade style, with fast races, winding tracks and fictional cars with very exaggerated designs. Each vehicle has its own performance characteristics and visual identity, and many of them became memorable for players who experienced the game back in the 1990s.
To create this papercraft, I took the 3D model available on the site and opened it in Pepakura Viewer. Using the program’s tools, I literally exploded the model, separating the three-dimensional mesh into several flat parts.
From there, the work began of organizing each piece on the sheets so they could be printed, cut out and assembled in the simplest and most practical way possible. After arranging all the parts, I created the glue tabs and prepared the file for the first test build.
During this process I also had to make a change to the model’s colors.
The original textures were very dark and when I printed the first test, most of the details almost disappeared on the paper. To solve this, I changed the color of the car to a strong purple tone that ended up reminding me of that classic coffin lining. Despite the unusual comparison, the color worked well with the aggressive and futuristic style of the vehicle and helped highlight the shapes of the body.
The final result is the model you see in the images of this post.
The car features a wide and angular body, pronounced fenders, partially covered wheels and a large front block that resembles supercharged engines often seen in stylized racing machines. The small side wings and the robust shape give the vehicle an almost armored look, something very characteristic of the exaggerated design style found in many arcade racing games from the 1990s.
The final template is distributed across four sheets. When printed and assembled, the model measures approximately 18 centimeters in length, 8 centimeters in height and about 10 centimeters in width, a size that allows the details to be appreciated without making the build too complicated.
I am making the model available in two different formats.
The first is a PDF file, ready for printing. The second is the PDO file from Pepakura, which can be used as a building guide since it allows you to view the model in 3D and rotate it to better understand how each piece fits together.

Este modelo nasceu a partir de um arquivo 3D que encontrei no site The Models Resource, um repositório bastante conhecido entre fãs de videogames por reunir modelos, sprites e outros recursos extraídos de jogos clássicos.
Rage Racer foi lançado em 1996 para o PlayStation e faz parte da famosa série de jogos de corrida iniciada com Ridge Racer. Diferente de simuladores realistas, o jogo segue um estilo totalmente arcade, com corridas rápidas, pistas cheias de curvas e carros fictícios de design bastante exagerado. Cada veículo tem características próprias de desempenho e aparência, e muitos deles ficaram gravados na memória de quem jogou o título na época.
Para criar este papercraft, eu peguei o modelo 3D disponível no site e o abri no programa Pepakura Viewer. Usando as ferramentas do programa, literalmente explodi o modelo, desmontando a malha tridimensional em várias partes planas.
A partir daí começou o trabalho de organizar cada peça nas folhas de forma que pudessem ser impressas, recortadas e montadas da maneira mais simples e prática possível. Depois de posicionar todas as peças, criei as abas de colagem e preparei o arquivo para a primeira montagem de teste.
Durante esse processo também precisei fazer uma alteração nas cores do modelo. As texturas originais eram muito escuras e, quando fiz a primeira impressão, os detalhes praticamente desapareceram no papel. Para resolver isso, mudei a cor do carro para um tom de roxo bem intenso que acabou lembrando aquele clássico forro de caixão. Apesar da comparação curiosa, a cor combinou bem com o estilo agressivo e futurista do veículo e ajudou bastante a destacar as formas da carroceria.
O resultado final é o modelo que você vê nas imagens deste post.
O carro tem uma carroceria larga e angular, com para-lamas bem pronunciados, rodas parcialmente carenadas e um grande bloco frontal que lembra motores superalimentados típicos de carros de corrida estilizados. As pequenas asas laterais e o formato robusto dão ao veículo um visual quase de carro blindado, algo muito característico do design exagerado dos jogos de corrida arcade da década de 1990.
O template final ficou distribuído em quatro folhas. Quando impresso e montado, o modelo mede aproximadamente 18 centímetros de comprimento, 8 centímetros de altura e cerca de 10 centímetros de largura, um tamanho que permite apreciar bem os detalhes sem tornar a montagem complicada.
Estou disponibilizando o modelo em dois formatos diferentes. O primeiro é o PDF, pronto para impressão. O segundo é o arquivo PDO do Pepakura, que pode ser usado como guia de montagem, já que nele é possível visualizar o modelo em 3D e girá-lo para entender melhor como cada peça se encaixa.
