Globe Slicers Facade Paper Model - by Papermau - Test Assembly Completed

I just finished the Beta assembly of the Globe Slicers facade and everything fit together perfectly, as you can see in the photos in this post. 

The only things that are not made of paper in the model are the side panel support and the wire coming out of the air conditioning, which were made with a toothpick and gardening wire. 

This model was made from a front photo of the Globe Slicers facade. I took this photo, opened it in MsPaint and "cut out" each part that could be detached, both inside (doors and windows) and outside the facade (panels and air conditioning). 

Once everything was separated, all that was left was to create the tabs and try to organize everything on the sheets for printing (which I'm still doing). 

In this test assembly, the way I arranged the pieces on four A4 sheets made the finished model approximately 1/35 scale. More soon.

Acabei de concluir a montagem Beta da fachada da Globe Slicers e tudo se encaixou com perfeição, como pode ser visto nas fotos deste post. 

As únicas coisas que não são feitas de papel no modelo são o suporte da placa lateral e o fio que sai do ar condicionado, que foram feitos com um palito de dentes e arame de jardinagem. 

Este modelo foi feito a partir de uma foto frontal da fachada da Globe Slicers. Eu peguei essa foto, abri no MsPaint e fui "recortando" cada parte que poderia ser destacada, tanto para dentro (portas e janelas) quanto para fora da fachada (placas e ar condicionado). 

Depois de tudo separado, foi só criar as abas e tentar organizar tudo nas folhas para impressão (o que ainda estou fazendo). 

Nessa montagem de teste, o modo como arranjei as peças em quatro folhas de formato A4 fez com que o modelo terminado ficasse em uma escala aproximada de 1/35. Mais em breve.

Globe Slicers Facade Paper Model - by Papermau - A Work In Progress

I'm working on a papercraft of the Globe Slicers storefront, a shop that frequently appears in searches for classic New York façades. 

Globe Slicers is a company specializing in restaurant equipment, founded in 1947. For decades, it has stood out in the sale and maintenance of meat slicers, grinders, and other industrial kitchen tools. 

Today, it operates at 266 Bowery, New York, providing services and selling parts for commercial kitchen machines. 

In the 1970s, the upper floor of this building was home to Chris Stein, guitarist of Blondie, and vocalist Debbie Harry. 

The space served as a small creative hub, frequented by artists and musicians from the punk and new wave scenes. 

Many people believe that Globe Slicers was already operating at this location during that time, associating it in some way with Blondie. 

However, the ground floor of the building actually housed a liquor store back then. Globe Slicers only moved to 266 Bowery later, relocating from a nearby address. 

Today, in addition to being a well-established business in the kitchen equipment industry, the location holds a piece of New York's musical history. 

For this papercraft, I chose to use a reference photo showing Globe Slicers with its doors closed. 

I believe the image was taken in the 1980s, but I’m not entirely sure. More soon.

Estou trabalhando em um papercraft da fachada da Globe Slicers, uma loja que sempre aparece em pesquisas sobre fachadas clássicas de Nova York. 

A Globe Slicers é uma empresa especializada em equipamentos para restaurantes, fundada em 1947. Há décadas, se destaca na venda e manutenção de fatiadores de carne, moedores e outros utensílios industriais. 

Atualmente, opera no 266 Bowery, Nova York, onde presta serviços e vende peças para máquinas de cozinha comercial. 

Na década de 1970, o andar superior desse prédio foi a residência de Chris Stein, guitarrista do Blondie, e da vocalista Debbie Harry. 

O espaço servia como um pequeno centro criativo, frequentado por artistas e músicos da cena punk e new wave. 

Muitas pessoas acreditam que a Globe Slicers já operava nesse local na época, associando-a de alguma forma ao Blondie, mas, na verdade, o térreo do prédio abrigava uma loja de bebidas alcoólicas naquele período. 

A Globe Slicers só se estabeleceu no 266 Bowery posteriormente, após se mudar de um endereço próximo. 

Hoje, além de ser uma empresa tradicional no ramo de equipamentos de cozinha, o local carrega um pedaço da história musical de Nova York. 

Para este papercraft, escolhi como referência uma foto que mostra a Globe Slicers com as portas fechadas. 

Acredito que essa imagem tenha sido tirada na década de 1980, mas não tenho certeza. Mais em breve.

Block Drugstore & Zig Zag Records 3D Models For Sketchup by Papermau - Download Now!

While working on the papercraft of the Block Drugstore facade, I decided to see how it would look next to the Zig Zag Records, another papercraft I’ve already published here on the blog (link at the end of this post). 

The result pleased me quite a lot, so I’m making the 3D model of both facades available, even though they were never neighbors in real life. 

The model can be opened in SketchUp (version 6 and later) or Trimble. 

Since Trimble no longer offers free versions and SketchUp has been discontinued, I’ve included a Google Drive link at the end of this post with a SketchUp 6 version for those interested.

I’m still working on the Block Drugstore facade and plan to release it in two versions: a narrower one, to pair with the Zig Zag Records, and a wider one, which will include details of the pharmacy’s side wall. More updates coming soon.

Enquanto trabalho no papercraft da fachada da Block Drugstore, decidi verificar como ela ficaria ao lado da Zig Zag Records, outro papercraft que já publiquei aqui no blog (link no final deste post). 

O resultado me agradou bastante, e por isso estou disponibilizando o modelo em 3D das duas fachadas, embora, na vida real, elas nunca tenham sido vizinhas. 

O modelo pode ser aberto no SketchUp (a partir da versão 6) ou no Trimble. 

Como o Trimble não oferece mais versões gratuitas e o SketchUp foi descontinuado, incluí no final deste post um link do Google Drive com uma versão do SketchUp 6, para aqueles que tiverem interesse. 

Continuo trabalhando na fachada da Block Drugstore e pretendo lançá-la em duas versões: uma mais estreita, para ser combinada com a Zig Zag Records, e outra mais larga, que incluirá detalhes da lateral da farmácia. Em breve, mais novidades.

Block Drugstore Facade Paper Model - by Papermau - Next Project

I've already decided what my next project will be: the facade of Block Drugstore, one of the oldest pharmacies in New York. 

Founded in 1885 and always located on the corner of 2nd Avenue and East 6th Street in the East Village, Block Drugstore is known for its iconic facade with vintage neon signs that evoke the charm of the past. 

Despite the changes in the neighborhood and the city over the years, the pharmacy maintains its authenticity and classic style, being a historical and cultural landmark of the region.

In addition to offering traditional products, it also attracts tourists and lovers of retro architecture. 

Today, just a few images. As I develop the model, that I will post here on the blog, I will share more interesting facts about this, the most iconic and nostalgic pharmacy in the East Village.

Já decidi qual vai ser meu próximo projeto: a fachada da Block Drugstore, uma das farmácias mais antigas de Nova York. 

Fundada em 1885 e localizada desde sempre na esquina da 2nd Avenue com a East 6th Street, no East Village, a Block Drugstore é conhecida por sua fachada icônica com letreiros vintage em néon que evocam o charme do passado. 

Apesar das mudanças no bairro e na cidade ao longo dos anos, a farmácia mantém sua autenticidade e estilo clássico, sendo um marco histórico e cultural da região. 

Além de oferecer produtos tradicionais, também atrai turistas e amantes de arquitetura retro. Hoje apenas algumas imagens.

Durante o desenvolvimento do modelo, que irei postando aqui no blog, trarei mais curiosidades sobre esta que é a farmácia mais icônica e nostálgica do East Village.

MTV Logo Decorative Papercraft - by Papermau - Download Now!

MTV (Music Television) was launched on August 1, 1981 in the United States (it only arrived in Brazil in October 1990). 

Originally, the channel was dedicated exclusively to music videos, presented by "video jockeys" (VJs). 

The first song to be broadcast was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the band The Buggles. MTV quickly became a significant cultural force, influencing the music, fashion and behavior of young people around the world. 

The famous MTV logo, designed by Manhattan Design (Pat Gorman and Frank Olinsky), is known for its bold and changeable design. 

The original logo featured the letter "M" in a large, three-dimensional style and the letter "TV" written over it in graffiti. 

This design has allowed for countless variations and customizations over the years, reflecting the dynamic and innovative nature of MTV. 

The MTV logo, created by advertising agency Manhattan Design, debuted alongside the channel on August 1, 1981. 

This distinctive and adaptable logo featured the letter "M" in a large, three-dimensional style, with the letter "TV" written over it in a graffiti style. 

The original design was meant to be flexible and changeable, allowing for frequent variation and customization, which has helped MTV maintain a dynamic, contemporary look over the years. 

In 2009, MTV updated its logo to a more simplified version, removing the three-dimensional details and adjusting the style to reflect the brand's evolution and its focus on a wider range of content beyond music videos.

In 2000, small modifications and variations were made to the logo, maintaining the essence of the original design, but in 2009 a more significant update was made, simplifying the design and adapting it for the digital and high-definition world. 

I created this papercraft using the 1981 version as a base. The entire model takes up just one printed sheet and is not difficult to assemble. 

In addition to the papercraft, I am also making a 3D model available that can be viewed and manipulated virtually using Sketchup. Both downloads are easy and secure, directly from Google Drive. Have fun.
