The Ephemeral Museum - Batcave Playset Diorama Paper Model
Assembled by Bill Thompson

A few days ago I published (or rather, republished, as the original link had expired) here on the blog a diorama/playset of the Batcave, the version that appeared in the 1966 Batman television series, created by British designer Philip Lawrence, from Action Figure Theater website.

I received some emails saying that instructions or assembly tips would be welcome, as the parts are not numbered and there is no type of guidance other than a 3D image.

Well, I found this model of the Batcave put together by an American modeler called Bill Thompson and as you can see, he did an incredible job, didn't he?

From this photo I believe that friends interested in assembling their own Batcave will have fewer difficulties, as it is very clear where the various pieces designed by Mr. Lawrence go. The link to download the Batcave will be below, at the end of this post.

Now, about Bill, who assembled the Batcave in the photo, he is not just a model maker. Bill is, in his own words, a "computer professional, motorcycle enthusiast, website designer, amateur magician and mad scientist."

He has a really nice website called Weird Fantastic Toys Adventures (print screen below), which, also in his words, "is a diary chronicling the adventures of my toys and anything else that might be on my mind. If you love toys, cartoons, comics, movies, TV shows, pop culture, and Gen X nostalgia from the '70s and '80s, then this is the place for you!"

Bill's website is well worth a visit. You will even find some exclusive papercrafts created by him there. The link is also below.

About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents

I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like.

With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation.

Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years.

I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

mautherous@gmail.com

All who submit their work will be published, without exceptions.

Farmhouse And Garden - A Vintage Miniature Diorama Papercraft
by A. M. Davis – via Open House Miniatures

Elizabeth, from Open House Miniatures, is a British designer, model maker, dollhouse enthusiast and collector of old papercrafts. She preserved and now shares this beautiful and rare papercraft of a farmhouse with its flowery yard, published by A. M. Davis, Quality Cards & Co (London).

She says that the set is undated and that she has no further information about the original publisher, but I would venture to say that this papercraft was originally printed sometime between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

She also says the farmhouse is something she was experimenting with and that, as she struggled with a cutting blade that kept breaking, paper that threatened to tear, and her concerns about the way the cardboard was absorbing sugar-based glue. water like a soaked sponge, even so she thought the assembly was relatively simple and that this little house would look good in a doll diorama in a nursery, school or miniature shop.

The original card was printed in the approximate size of an A5 sheet. This would be too small if scaled down to 1/12 scale, so this model is not 1/12 scale, but rather just a compatible size for a dollhouse.

Miniature Refrigerator Paper Model In 1/12 Scale - by Paperish

This tiny paper model of a refrigerator in a beautiful retro style is offered by the website Paperish Printables. The whole model only takes up two printed sheets and is in the 1/12 scale, a very popular scale among dollhouse enthusiasts.

The dollhouse hobby is a pastime in which enthusiasts create miniatures of houses, furniture, and accessories on a reduced scale, usually in the 1/12 scale.

These models are often used to create realistic scenes of a miniature house, with precise details and decorations.

The hobby involves a variety of skills, from carpentry to sewing, and can be a creative and relaxing way to pass the time.

Some people collect miniature dollhouses, while others create their own unique pieces to display or play with.

Super-Powers - Clark Kent's Office Playset Diorama Paper Model
by Weird Fantastic Toys

Created by North American designer and toy enthusiast Bill, from Weird Fantastic Toys website, here is a really nice playset diorama.

Bill said: - "Thanks for featuring Clark Kent's office diorama, here on your Blog! I would encourage everyone to take a look at Weird Fantastic Toys as there are many more dioramas and diorama plans featured there including plans to make a telephone booth for Clark Kent to change into Superman in! Enjoy!

Its Clark Kent in his office at the Daily Planet! Based mainly on the office set featured in the 1950s TV show "The Adventures of Superman" and also seen briefly in the first episode of the cartoon "Challenge of the Super Friends" entitled "Wanted: The Super Friends", this diorama is scaled at 1:16 and is suitable for use with 4.5" Kenner Super Powers Figures."

I added two more links: one for the desk, which appears in the photo but was not included on the templates and another for a bookcase.
