New York Subway Station Diorama Papercraft With Alstom R160A Trains in 1/140 Scale - by Paper Diorama

Created by the talented design team from the Italian website Paper Diorama, this is an amazing 1/140 scale papercraft of a subway station. More specifically, it represents the MTA, L Line 14th St./Canarsie 1st Ave. Station – New York, as it was in 2010. 

The complete model takes up only four printed sheets and includes four Alstom R160A subway trains, allowing you to build a detailed and realistic station. 

The Alstom R160A is a model of the New York subway train manufactured by Alstom, in partnership with Kawasaki. It is part of the R160 series, introduced between 2006 and 2010, to replace older trains on the MTA system and modernize the subway network. 

On the L Line, which connects 14th Street (Manhattan) to Canarsie (Brooklyn), the R160A trains played a key role in upgrading the service, bringing air conditioning, automated announcement systems, and regenerative braking. 

In 2010, the line was already using CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) technology, allowing for greater operational efficiency and safety. 

The 1st Ave. Station is the last underground stop on the L Line in Manhattan. After this station, the trains cross the East River through the Canarsie Tunnel, heading toward Brooklyn. 

Below, I’ve found some legends and curiosities about this station: 

Canarsie Tunnel Ghosts - Some urban explorers and subway enthusiasts believe that workers who helped build the Canarsie Tunnel still "haunt" the station. There are reports of mysterious sounds and shadows at the end of the platforms, fueling urban legends among passengers. 

Hidden Tunnels - Rumors suggest the existence of forgotten underground passages beneath the 1st Ave. Station, possibly connected to old city structures. Although the MTA denies their existence, the idea of secret tunnels continues to intrigue New Yorkers. 

The Millionaire Rat - One of the most curious stories about this station happened when a passenger dropped a dollar on the floor and a rat was caught "stealing" the bill and disappearing down the tracks. The video went viral, turning into a famous meme among L Line riders.

O Rato Milionário - Uma das histórias mais curiosas envolvendo essa estação aconteceu quando um passageiro deixou cair um dólar no chão e um rato foi flagrado "roubando" a nota e desaparecendo nos trilhos. O vídeo viralizou, tornando-se um meme famoso entre os usuários da Linha L.

Dodge "RENFE" WC 214 Truck Miniature Paper Model - by Asociacion Cultural Mesaches

This 1941 Dodge WC-214 truck paper model is offered by the Asociación Cultural Mesaches, from Spain, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of Renfe (Red Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Españoles), the country's main railway operator. 

Founded in 1941, Renfe is responsible for passenger and freight transportation in Spain. 

Today, it primarily operates high-speed (AVE), regional, and suburban services and is recognized for its modern trains and extensive high-speed rail network, one of the fastest in the world. 

The paper model replicates the Dodge WC-214 version used by Renfe, featuring the company’s colors and logo. 

In 1952, Renfe acquired five units of this vehicle. Originally designed as an American military truck from the Dodge WC series, used during World War II, these vehicles were adapted for railway services, being employed for track maintenance and inspection. 

Before arriving in Spain, the vehicles underwent modifications, including replacing their gasoline engines with diesel engines. 

Additionally, they were fitted with special wheels capable of running both on railway tracks and regular roads, providing greater versatility for transportation and railway maintenance.

The Colonius Television Tower is a telecommunications tower located in Cologne, Germany. 

Inaugurated in 1981, it stands 266 meters tall and is primarily used for transmitting radio, TV, and telecommunications signals. 

It is the tallest structure in Cologne, providing a visible landmark from various parts of the city. 

The tower is one of the modern landmarks of Cologne, contrasting with the city's historic architecture, such as the famous Cologne Cathedral. 

When it was inaugurated, the Colonius represented the pinnacle of modernity, equipped with cutting-edge transmission technologies of the time. 

During the Cold War, the Colonius was outfitted with antennas that could be used for military communication in emergencies. 

It plays a crucial role in transmitting both digital and analog signals to the region, remaining a vital infrastructure to this day. 

Although it was designed to include a revolving restaurant and an observation deck, these areas have been closed to the public since 1992. 

Despite its tourist potential, the observation deck and restaurant have never been reopened due to high operational costs and low demand. 

Since then, despite occasional proposals to reopen these areas, they remain inaccessible, and the tower is used exclusively for telecommunications. 

While not associated with major crimes, there have been reports of intruders attempting to climb the tower over the years, putting their lives at risk. 

These acts, usually committed by adventurers or extreme sports enthusiasts, are illegal and treated as invasions.
