Old Town Garage Papercraft In 1/64 Scale - American Wooden Garage For Diecast Dioramas - A Slight Delay For A Good Reason

As I had promised to publish the Old Town Garage model last week, I thought it would be better to leave a quick update for those who are following the project.

I ended up spending more time than expected refining the templates. While reviewing the parts, I realized I could improve the layout on the sheets and also adjust some details that would make a difference in the final result, keeping the original idea of the garage but making the whole set cleaner and easier to build.

I also decided to include a few extras that were not part of the initial plan, such as a wooden fence for the back of the garage and several vintage advertising signs inspired by the 1940s and 1950s, some based on real signs and others completely invented, all meant to add more character to the scene.

To give you an idea of what I am still finishing, I am leaving the images that illustrate this post, already showing these improvements and additions in progress.

In the end, I felt it was worth delaying one or two days to deliver something more polished instead of releasing the model in a rush. The idea is that the final result will make up for this short delay.

If everything goes as planned, the model will be ready for download by Tuesday.

Como eu havia prometido publicar o modelo Old Town Garage ainda na semana passada, achei melhor deixar uma pequena atualização para quem está acompanhando.

Acabei passando mais tempo do que o previsto ajustando os templates para melhorá-los. Enquanto revisava as peças, percebi que dava para organizar melhor o layout nas folhas e também refinar alguns detalhes que fariam diferença no resultado final, mantendo a proposta original da garagem e deixando o conjunto mais limpo e fácil de montar.

Além disso, resolvi incluir alguns extras que não estavam no plano inicial, como uma cerca de madeira para o fundo da garagem e várias placas de propaganda inspiradas nas décadas de 40 e 50, algumas baseadas em placas reais e outras completamente inventadas, pensadas para enriquecer o cenário e dar ainda mais personalidade ao modelo.

Para dar uma ideia do que ainda estou finalizando, deixo as imagens que ilustram este post, já mostrando essas melhorias e adições em andamento.

No fim, achei que valia mais a pena atrasar um ou dois dias e entregar algo mais bem resolvido do que publicar o modelo correndo. A ideia é que o resultado final compense essa pequena espera.

Sci-Fi Buildings Papercraft For Tabletop Wargames - by TheFlyingKick

This set of sci-fi buildings papercraft, created by Reddit user TheFlyingKick, was designed especially for tabletop games such as Battletech, where terrain is an essential part of the experience. Inspired by futuristic structures from the Battletech universe, the models work as low-cost scenery pieces that can quickly transform a simple game board into a small sci-fi battlefield.

The design is clean, practical and very effective. The buildings use simple geometric shapes, but the textures make all the difference, with metal panels, vents, hatches, windows, warning markings and industrial details. Eastern European Tourist House Hand Drawn Papercraft by Somodi Zoltán

Directly from Hungary, this papercraft of a tourist house, or rural refuge, created by Hungarian model maker Somodi Zoltán, is one of those models that immediately catches the eye because it is quite different from the most common style we see today. Offered for free on the author’s own blog, the model called Túristaház 2013 started from an old drawing that he had kept for years and finally decided to finish without worrying too much about saving pages or making it overly simple.

The result is a very detailed model, clearly made more as a real paper modeling project than something quick to assemble. The author himself comments that it is not exactly recommended for classroom use, precisely because it requires more time and patience. The building reminds us of rural houses from Eastern Europe, very typical of Hungary and nearby countries, with its sloped roof, simple volumes and a very characteristic look.

One of the nicest things here is that this papercraft was hand drawn by the author himself, and this is very clear when looking at the templates. The lines are not perfectly polished like modern vector models, and that gives the whole thing a special charm, almost like those old European bastelbogen paper models. The textures also follow this more direct and handmade style, without that super polished digital finish, which gives the model a very unique identity.

The model is offered in two versions, one already colored and ready to build, and another without colors, perfect for anyone who wants to paint it in their own way and create something truly unique. The entire model occupies three printed sheets, and the parts are relatively large and well-distributed. There is no exact scale informed, but judging by the size of the pieces, it seems to be around 1/64 scale or even larger, depending on how it is printed, which makes it work very well both for dioramas and as a standalone display piece.

The site where the model is hosted is a simple and direct blog, maintained by Somodi Zoltán himself, where he shares his works for free. He is from Hungary, more specifically from Szolnok, and makes it clear that his models are aimed at people who really enjoy the hobby and have the patience to build calmly.

This model was originally published in 2013, and since 2022 the author has not published anything new on the blog. I really hope he is doing well. I have known his work for many years, I have already shared several of his models here on Papermau, and I can say that he is one of my references when it comes to creating papercrafts. This more human, handmade side of his work has always caught my attention.

Overall, Túristaház 2013 is the kind of papercraft with personality, one that moves away from the more digital style and brings a much more artistic and traditional feeling. For those who enjoy something different, with a hand drawn look and a story behind it, this is definitely a model worth downloading and building.

Diretamente da Hungria, este papercraft de uma casa de turismo, ou refúgio rural, criado pelo modelista húngaro Somodi Zoltán, é daquelas coisas que chamam atenção logo de cara por ser bem diferente do padrão mais comum que vemos hoje. Disponibilizado gratuitamente no blog do próprio autor, o modelo chamado Túristaház 2013 surgiu a partir de um desenho antigo que ele guardou por anos e resolveu finalizar sem se preocupar muito com economia de páginas ou simplificações.

O resultado é um modelo bem detalhado, claramente pensado mais como um projeto de modelismo mesmo do que algo rápido de montar. O próprio autor comenta que não é exatamente indicado para uso em sala de aula, justamente por exigir mais tempo e paciência. A construção lembra aquelas casas rurais do leste europeu, bem típicas da Hungria e arredores, com telhado inclinado, volumes simples e um visual bem característico.

Um dos pontos mais legais aqui é que este papercraft foi desenhado à mão pelo próprio autor, e isso aparece claramente nos templates. As linhas não são perfeitinhas como nos modelos digitais feitos em vetor, e isso dá um charme especial, quase como aqueles antigos bastelbogen europeus. As texturas também seguem esse caminho mais direto e artesanal, sem aquele acabamento digital super polido, o que acaba deixando tudo com uma identidade bem única.

O modelo é oferecido em duas versões, uma já colorida, pronta para montar, e outra sem cores, ideal para quem quiser pintar do seu próprio jeito e criar algo realmente único. O modelo todo ocupa três folhas impressas e as peças relativamente grandes e bem distribuídas. Não há uma escala exata informada, mas pelo tamanho das peças dá para imaginar algo em torno de 1/64 ou até maior, dependendo da impressão, o que funciona muito bem tanto para dioramas quanto para exibição individual.

O site onde o modelo está hospedado é um blog simples, direto, mantido pelo próprio Somodi Zoltán, onde ele compartilha gratuitamente seus trabalhos. Ele é da Hungria, mais especificamente de Szolnok, e deixa claro que seus modelos são voltados para quem realmente gosta do hobby e tem paciência para montar com calma.

Esse modelo foi publicado originalmente em 2013, e desde 2022 o autor não publica mais nada no blog. Eu realmente espero que ele esteja bem. Conheço o trabalho dele há muitos anos, já publiquei vários modelos dele aqui no blog Papermau, e posso dizer que ele é uma das minhas referências quando o assunto é criação de papercrafts. Esse lado mais humano, mais artesanal, sempre me chamou atenção no trabalho dele.

No geral, o Túristaház 2013 é aquele tipo de papercraft com personalidade, que foge do padrão mais digital e traz um clima bem mais artístico e tradicional. Old Town Garage Papercraft In 1/64 Scale - American Wooden Garage For Diecast Dioramas - This Week At Papermau

This small two-story garage papercraft looks like it came straight from a forgotten American town, the kind of place where simple wooden buildings still stand quietly against time, weather and change.

Inspired by these traditional structures, this garage combines practical design with small details that suggest stories. The worn wooden front doors point to constant use, while the upper level reveals something more interesting: a side opening with a platform, ladder and a simple beam with a rope used to lift heavy loads.

It is easy to imagine what has passed through that opening. Toolboxes, engine parts, maybe an old 1930s Ford engine slowly being pulled upstairs, or even, perhaps, a few hidden crates during the Prohibition era, when buildings like this often had more than one purpose.

The building follows a typical small-town American functional style, with a wooden frame, simple horizontal siding and a sloped roof covered with aged shingles. Structures like this can still be found today in rural areas and small towns, often used as workshops, storage spaces or independent garages.

This paper model was designed especially for 1/64 scale dioramas, making it a perfect companion for diecast vehicles from brands such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox, GreenLight and others. Its compact size and straightforward layout allow realistic scenes without taking too much space.

The images of this post show the model in development, including a preview of the parts still being organized. Since the project is not fully finalized yet, the total number of pages and some details may be slightly adjusted before the final release.

Esta pequena garagem de dois andares em papercraft parece saída de uma cidade esquecida no tempo, daquelas que ainda resistem em regiões do interior dos Estados Unidos, onde construções simples de madeira continuam de pé apesar dos anos, do sol forte e das mudanças ao redor.

Inspirada nesses edifícios típicos, esta garagem mistura elementos práticos com detalhes que contam histórias. A fachada frontal com suas grandes portas de madeira já gastas sugere um espaço de trabalho constante, enquanto o andar superior revela algo mais interessante: uma abertura lateral com plataforma, escada e uma viga simples com corda, usada para içar cargas.

É fácil imaginar o que já passou por ali. Caixas de ferramentas, peças de motores, talvez o velho motor de um Ford dos anos 30 sendo puxado lentamente para o andar de cima, ou até, quem sabe, algumas caixas escondidas durante os tempos da Lei Seca, quando muitas dessas construções serviam para muito mais do que aparentavam.

O estilo do edifício segue a arquitetura funcional típica do interior americano, com estrutura de madeira, revestimento simples em tábuas horizontais e um telhado inclinado coberto por telhas envelhecidas. Esse tipo de construção ainda pode ser encontrado em pequenas cidades e áreas rurais, muitas vezes transformado em oficinas, depósitos ou garagens independentes.

Este modelo de papel foi desenvolvido pensando especialmente em dioramas na escala 1/64, sendo ideal para acompanhar miniaturas de marcas como Hot Wheels, Matchbox, GreenLight e similares. O tamanho compacto e o formato simples permitem criar cenas realistas sem ocupar muito espaço.

As imagens deste post mostram o modelo em desenvolvimento, incluindo uma prévia das peças ainda em fase de organização. Como o projeto ainda está sendo finalizado, o número total de páginas e alguns detalhes podem sofrer pequenos ajustes antes da versão final para download.

Desktop Architecture - The Old Church - A 2007 Original Miniature Paper Model - by Papermau - Download Now!

This miniature paper model of a small church was originally created in 2007 and was part of a series called Desktop Architecture.

At the time, I shared it and the rest of the series on some papercraft forums. Then, in 2011, with the creation of the Papermau blog, I published the series again in one or two posts. These posts are still here on the blog, but the download links no longer work.

So far, I have found five parts of this series on old CDs and USB sticks, and not all of them have the same style or scale.

Today I continue publishing these models, this time with this small church surrounded by two leafless trees, giving it a slightly rustic and atmospheric look.

The entire model takes up just one printed sheet, including the base, and is very easy to assemble.

The finished model measures approximately 8 cm wide, 6 cm deep and about 6 cm tall. Because it is so small and delicate, it is perfect for decorating shelves or work desks, which is exactly the idea behind the name Desktop Architecture.

In the third image of this post, you can see the small church displayed alongside another model from the same series, the Village House. The link to this model is available at the end of the post, in the related posts section.

Este modelo em miniatura de uma pequena igreja foi originalmente criado em 2007 e fazia parte de uma série chamada Desktop Architecture.

Na época, compartilhei este modelo e o restante da série em alguns fóruns de papercraft. Depois, em 2011, com a criação do blog Papermau, publiquei novamente essa série em um ou dois posts. Esses posts ainda estão aqui no blog, mas os links para download não funcionam mais.

Até agora encontrei cinco partes dessa série em CDs e pen drives antigos, e nem todas seguem o mesmo estilo ou escala.

Hoje continuo republicando esses modelos, desta vez com esta pequena igreja acompanhada de duas árvores sem folhas nas laterais, o que dá ao conjunto um visual simples e um pouco mais atmosférico.

O modelo completo ocupa apenas uma folha impressa, incluindo a base, e é muito fácil de montar.

O modelo montado mede aproximadamente 8 cm de largura, 6 cm de profundidade e cerca de 6 cm de altura. Por ser pequeno e delicado, é perfeito para decorar estantes ou mesas de trabalho, o que explica o nome Desktop Architecture.

Garage Stand Papercraft For Miniatures In 1/64 Scale - New Layered 3D Version - by Papermau - Download Now!

This 1/64 scale garage papercraft lets you build a realistic layered diorama stand for your diecast cars. This new version is updated with layered details that create a subtle 3D depth effect, making the model more realistic while keeping it simple and easy to build.

The original version, published back in 2021, was a very simple project that stayed on my hard drive for years before I finally decided to share it. To my surprise, it became one of the most viewed and downloaded models on the blog, and it still remains among the top posts of all time.

This new version keeps the same compact format and full compatibility with 1/64 scale diecast cars from brands such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, GreenLight and Majorette, but now includes separate elements like door frames, wall sections and signs that can be cut, reinforced and glued over the main structure, creating a nice layered relief effect.

The technique is simple and widely used in paper models, known as layered papercraft or 2.5D, where selected parts are slightly raised from the surface to add depth without making the build more complicated.

If you want to build your own garage with this 3D effect, the model is, as always, free, and the download is easy and safe, directly from Google Drive.

Another thing people often ask about is the blue car in the photos. It is a custom Hot Wheels Nash Metropolitan, known as the MetroRail version, released in the early 2000s, featuring metallic blue paint, flame graphics and an exposed engine, a classic casting that fits perfectly in garage scenes like this.

Just like the original version, the entire template fits on a single sheet of A4 or Letter size paper, and this time you can build two complete garage stands per page, each with its own extra parts for customization.

If you liked the previous versions, this one offers a small but noticeable upgrade in realism, while keeping the same simple and straightforward building experience.

Assim como na versão original, todo o template cabe em apenas uma folha tamanho A4 ou Carta, e desta vez é possível montar duas garagens completas por página, cada uma com suas próprias peças extras para personalização.
