The entrance to the port of Lindau, in Germany, is like the landmark of the city, certainly one of the most beautiful port entrances in Europe.
The 6m-tall Bavarian lion can be seen from the east pier to the lake and has about 50 tons of sandstone, and pairs the 33m-high beacon. It is the southernmost lighthouse in Germany, at the same time the only one in Bavaria and one of the few with a clock.
It was commissioned in 1856 as the successor to the old lighthouse (Mangturm). In the first 6 years, the lighthouse was lit by burning oil in large pots, then with kerosene, then with gas and since 1936 it has been powered by electricity.
Since the early 1990s, the beacon in the form of two parabolic rotary mirrors for ships, can be activated by radio and flashes every 3 seconds.

O leão bávaro de 6 metros de altura pode ser visto do píer leste até o lago e tem cerca de 50 toneladas de arenito, e faz par ao farol de 33m de altura. É o farol mais meridional da Alemanha, ao mesmo tempo o único na Baviera e um dos poucos com um relógio.
Foi encomendado em 1856 como o sucessor do antigo farol (Mangturm). Nos primeiros 6 anos, o farol foi iluminado pela queima de óleo em grandes panelas, depois com querosene, depois com gás e desde 1936 é alimentado por eletricidade.
Desde o início dos anos 90, o farol na forma de dois espelhos parabólicos rotativos, pode ser ativado por rádio e pisca a cada 3 segundos.
