Straight from a time when video games still relied heavily on style and personality, and more specifically from the world of Metal Slug 3, here is the papercraft version of the Rebel Flame Tank, a small flamethrower-equipped vehicle that carries the distinctive and memorable look typical of the series.
I created this model using the original 3D model extracted from the game itself, which is available on the website The Models Resource, a well-known repository that gathers 3D assets extracted from both classic and modern video games, widely used by artists, fans and modelers as reference material for all kinds of projects.
Based on that model, I carefully adapted the shapes for papercraft, aiming to preserve the original proportions and overall look of the vehicle while simplifying the structure just enough to keep the assembly practical and accessible. I also chose to keep the original in-game textures, which is why some areas show noticeable pixelation. This was an intentional decision, meant to preserve the authentic appearance of the model, including the technical limitations of the era in which the game was produced.
The result is a well-balanced model with a good level of detail, especially in the tracks, the base structure and the flamethrower assembly, giving it a strong visual presence without making the build overly complex.
The model is made up of 67 individual parts, distributed across 17 printable pages, along with six pages of illustrated instructions that help guide the building process in a clear and straightforward way. Completing the set, there are also two additional pages, one in English and one in Portuguese, featuring general tips and basic information that make the model more accessible to both beginners and experienced modelers.
When printed at 100% scale on A4 or Letter size paper, the finished model measures approximately 17 to 18 cm in length, resulting in an approximate 1/24 scale. This makes it a great display piece, especially when placed alongside small figures, as shown in the third photo, where you can see the model still being assembled.

Direto da era em que os videogames ainda apostavam em estilo e personalidade acima de tudo, e mais precisamente do universo de Metal Slug 3, eis aqui a versão em papercraft do Rebel Flame Tank, um pequeno tanque equipado com lança-chamas que carrega aquele visual marcante e cheio de identidade típico da série.
Eu criei este modelo usando como base o modelo 3D original extraído do próprio jogo, que está disponível no site The Models Resource, um conhecido repositório que reúne modelos tridimensionais extraídos de videogames clássicos e modernos, muito utilizado por artistas, fãs e modelistas como referência para diversos tipos de projetos.
A partir desse modelo, adaptei cuidadosamente as formas para o formato em papel, buscando preservar as proporções e o visual geral do veículo original, ao mesmo tempo em que simplifiquei a estrutura na medida certa para manter a montagem prática e acessível. Optei também por manter as texturas originais do jogo, por isso em algumas partes a pixelização fica mais evidente. Essa escolha foi intencional, como uma forma de preservar o visual autêntico do modelo e até mesmo as limitações técnicas da época em que o jogo foi produzido.
O resultado é um modelo equilibrado, com bom nível de detalhamento, especialmente nas esteiras, na base e no conjunto do canhão, garantindo presença visual sem se tornar excessivamente complexo.
O modelo é composto por 67 peças individuais, distribuídas em 17 páginas com partes para impressão, além de seis páginas com instruções ilustradas que ajudam a entender o processo de montagem de forma clara e objetiva. Completando o conjunto, há ainda duas páginas adicionais, uma em inglês e outra em português, trazendo dicas de montagem e algumas informações gerais que tornam o modelo mais amigável tanto para iniciantes quanto para modelistas mais experientes.
Quando impresso em escala 100 por cento em papel A4 ou Carta, o modelo final mede aproximadamente entre 17 e 18 centímetros de comprimento, o que corresponde a uma escala próxima de 1/24. Isso faz com que ele funcione muito bem como peça de exibição, inclusive ao lado de pequenas figuras, como mostrado na terceira foto, em que se pode ver o modelo que ainda estou montando.
