Surrounded by impressive double walls and dozens of towers, Carcassonne is considered one of the best-preserved medieval sites in the world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Miniature Room With Eiffel Tower View Paper Craft - by PWOTD

This small paper diorama shows the view of the Eiffel Tower through the window of what looks like a hotel room or living room. 

The model was created by the South Korean designer known as PWOTD, from the website Paper World On The Desk, and is available for free on his blog. 

The set is made up of three sheets that contain all the parts needed to build the scene: the wall with a large window facing Paris, a patterned floor, curtains, an armchair, a small table, and a cabinet with details such as drawers, a picture frame, and a book with the inscription “I Love Paris.” 

The result is a simple yet realistic scene, nicely balanced and pleasant to look at, giving the impression of quietly watching the city from a hotel room. 

The assembly is straightforward and doesn’t require much experience. The pieces fit together well, making it a great project for anyone who wants to build something quick but decorative.

The author also made a clear and well-produced video tutorial showing each step of the process - where to cut, fold, and glue - which makes it very easy even for beginners. This is a good example of how a simple project can produce a beautiful and interesting result. 

The model can be used as part of a larger diorama, as a background for miniatures, or simply as a small decorative piece that captures a classic Paris view.

O modelo foi criado pelo designer sul-coreano conhecido como PWOTD, do site Paper World On The Desk e está disponível gratuitamente em seu blog. 

O conjunto é composto por três folhas que reúnem todas as partes necessárias para montar a cena: a parede com a grande janela voltada para Paris, o piso com padrão geométrico, as cortinas, uma poltrona, uma pequena mesa e uma cômoda com detalhes como gavetas, um quadro e um livro com a inscrição “I Love Paris”. 

O resultado é um cenário simples mas realista, mas com um visual agradável e bem equilibrado, que transmite a sensação de estar observando a cidade a partir de um quarto de hotel.

Easy-To-Build Classic Citroën Paper Cars - 2CV, BX, Méhari And More by Citroën Japan

Citroën has a Japanese page called "CITROËN At Home" where it offers papercrafts (paper models to cut out and assemble) of several of its cars, as well as coloring sheets. 

The papercrafts include popular models such as the BX, the Méhari, the H-Truck, the classic 2CV, and also the C3, which is more modern. 

There are beginner versions of some of these models with lower complexity, making them accessible for people with little experience in papercraft, as well as more advanced versions (like the C3) for those who enjoy a challenge. 

In addition, the site also provides coloring sheets of the same or other Citroën models. So the initiative is not just about assembly, but also about giving space for creativity, personalization, and hands-on construction. 

Although Citroën is a brand originally from France, this papercraft project is hosted on the Japanese Citroën website and aimed at the Japanese audience. It is a cultural adaptation: even though the product itself is European, the marketing strategy using papercrafts is carried out locally in Japan. 

This shows how papercraft can be a great tool to promote a brand or product, since it allows engagement, gives people the chance to build and customize the model, and reinforces the visual identity of the brand in a playful way.

An Elegant Bathroom Vintage Papercraft - by Illustreret Familie-JournalPreserved And Shared by Esben Rasmussen

Here is a truly charming paper model full of vintage appeal: an elegant bathroom in classic style, featuring a checkered floor, red curtains, golden details, and even a pool where three little paper dolls in swimsuits can enjoy a refreshing dip. 

Published by the Danish magazine Illustreret Familie-Journal, probably in the early 20th century, this diorama was originally designed as part of a set of paper dolls’ playthings, combining scenic elements with interactive features. 

The model consists of two richly illustrated sheets. The first shows the floor of the room, the ornate walls, a red carpet running through the center, and the three small characters ready for their swim. 

The second sheet presents the pool, the washbasin, mirrors, and other elements that complete the composition, all in a decorative style typical of the early 1900s with neoclassical influences. 

According to the original instructions, translated from Danish, the traditional bathtub was replaced by a large pool where all three girls can enter the water at the same time. 

The model is assembled starting with the large piece A, shown on the first sheet, along with other parts located on the second page. 

All parts should be glued onto thick cardstock, carefully cut out, and assembled using fish glue, thick gum, or dextrin. 

By the way, these recommended glues, now little known, were widely used at the time. Fish glue, for example, is a natural adhesive made from fish skin and bones, known for its strength and durability. 

Thick gum and dextrin, both derived from starch, were also popular among bookbinders and modelers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. 

These little details make these old papercrafts even more fascinating, true portraits of a time when even glues had their artisanal charm. 

This model was preserved and is now kindly shared by Esben Rasmussen, a paper model enthusiast who has contributed significantly to preserving and digitizing historic cutouts, including those from Illustreret Familie-Journal.

Eis aqui um modelo de papel realmente encantador e cheio de charme vintage: um elegante banheiro em estilo clássico, com direito a piso quadriculado, cortinas vermelhas, detalhes dourados e até uma piscina onde três bonequinhas em trajes de banho podem tomar um refrescante mergulho. 

Publicado pela revista dinamarquesa Illustreret Familie-Journal, provavelmente no início do século XX, este diorama foi originalmente pensado como parte de um conjunto de brincadeiras com bonecas de papel, combinando elementos de cenário com interação. 

O modelo é composto por duas folhas ricamente ilustradas. A primeira traz o piso do ambiente, as paredes ornamentadas, um tapete vermelho que percorre o centro da sala, além das três pequenas personagens prontas para o banho. 

Já a segunda folha apresenta a piscina, o lavatório, espelhos e outros elementos que completam a composição, tudo em um estilo decorativo típico do início do século passado, com influência neoclássica. 

Segundo as instruções originais, traduzidas do dinamarquês, a tradicional banheira foi deixada de lado; em seu lugar, há uma grande piscina onde as três meninas podem entrar na água ao mesmo tempo. 

O modelo é montado a partir da grande peça A, mostrada na primeira folha, junto com outras partes localizadas na segunda página. 

Todas devem ser coladas sobre papel cartão grosso, cuidadosamente recortadas e montadas com cola de peixe, goma espessa ou dextrina. 

Aliás, essas colas recomendadas, hoje pouco comuns, eram amplamente utilizadas na época. A cola de peixe, por exemplo, era um adesivo natural feito a partir da pele e das espinhas de peixe, conhecida por sua força e durabilidade. 

Já a goma espessa e a dextrina, ambas derivadas do amido, também eram populares entre encadernadores e modelistas do século XIX e início do XX. 

São pequenos detalhes como esses que tornam esses antigos papercrafts ainda mais fascinantes, verdadeiros retratos de um tempo em que até as colas tinham seu charme artesanal. 

Este modelo foi preservado e agora é gentilmente compartilhado por Esben Rasmussen, um entusiasta de modelos de papel que tem contribuído significativamente para a preservação e digitalização de recortáveis históricos, incluindo os da Illustreret Familie-Journal.

Paris 1910 Miniature Small Shops Papercraft In HO Scale by Jean-Pierre Larouzé - Free Printable Download

This beautiful Paris 1910 miniature papercraft in HO scale recreates a charming row of small Parisian shops inspired by one of the historic images from the photographic series Petits Commerces Parisiens.

Created under the direction of French banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn in the early 20th century, that visual reference now returns in paper form through the talent of artist and model maker Jean-Pierre Larouzé.

In classic HO scale (1/87), widely used by railway modelers, the model fits on just two printed sheets and features a charming urban façade that could easily have come from a street in Montmartre or Le Marais around the year 1910.

Jean-Pierre Larouzé, whose works have been featured here on Papermau on previous occasions, is a master at capturing the soul of cities through paper. With a style that balances ease of assembly with historical accuracy, his models have the power to transport us to another time.

This model also fits beautifully alongside other Jean-Pierre Larouzé creations already featured here on Papermau, such as the Garage du SUD, the Small French Shoemaking Shop and Le Ferme Du Maitre, all of them sharing that same gift for transforming everyday French architecture into charming miniature scenes full of atmosphere.

Whenever I publish papercrafts by this author, I like to recreate the models in 3D based on the original templates, adding small details such as sidewalks, street lamps and other elements, just to better visualize how these miniature scenes would look when assembled.

In this particular case, his inspiration comes directly from the celebrated autochromes, early color photographs, taken by photographers working under Albert Kahn, who traveled the world on a visionary mission: to document the cultural diversity of the planet before modernity erased it forever.

Between 1909 and 1931, Kahn financed the project known as Archives de la Planète, gathering more than 72,000 color photographs and over 180,000 meters of film footage across dozens of countries.

But he didn’t need to go far to capture the poetry of everyday life, Paris itself, with its small shops, hand-painted signs, and charming storefronts, already offered a visual spectacle.

The images from Petits Commerces Parisiens are a touching portrait of a time when street commerce was an essential part of the city’s social fabric.

Back then, the sidewalk was not just a space for passing by, but an extension of everyday life: shopkeepers would chat with neighbors and customers outside their stores, shop windows invited people to pause and admire, and human interaction unfolded right there, within arm’s reach. It was a living, close-knit Paris, where every shop was also a small meeting point.

By turning one of these scenes into a papercraft model, Jean-Pierre not only pays tribute to Kahn’s visual legacy, but also allows each of us to build and hold in our hands a tangible fragment of this forgotten Paris.

Once assembled, the scene can be used in dioramas, railway layouts, or as a decorative piece, always evoking a time when the city belonged to the people, and the street was the stage of everyday life.

Na clássica escala HO (1/87), muito usada por ferreomodelistas, o modelo ocupa apenas duas folhas impressas e apresenta uma encantadora fachada urbana que poderia perfeitamente ter saído de uma rua qualquer de Montmartre ou do Marais por volta de 1910.

Neste caso específico, sua inspiração vem diretamente das célebres autochromes, fotografias coloridas pioneiras, tiradas por fotógrafos a serviço de Albert Kahn, que percorreu o mundo em uma missão visionária: documentar a diversidade cultural do planeta antes que a modernidade a apagasse para sempre.

Entre 1909 e 1931, Kahn financiou o projeto conhecido como Archives de la Planète, reunindo mais de 72 mil fotografias coloridas e 180 mil metros de filme em dezenas de países.

Mas não foi preciso ir longe para capturar a poesia do cotidiano, Paris, com seus pequenos comércios, seus letreiros pintados à mão e vitrines cheias de charme, já oferecia um espetáculo visual por si só.

As imagens dos Petits Commerces Parisiens são um retrato tocante de uma época em que o comércio de rua fazia parte do tecido social da cidade.

Naquele tempo, a calçada não era apenas um espaço de passagem, mas uma extensão da vida cotidiana: os comerciantes conversavam com vizinhos e clientes do lado de fora, as vitrines convidavam à contemplação, e o contato humano acontecia ali, no dia a dia, ao alcance da mão. Era uma Paris viva, próxima, onde cada loja era também um ponto de encontro.

Ao transformar uma dessas cenas em papercraft, Jean-Pierre não apenas presta homenagem à memória visual de Kahn, como também permite que cada um de nós monte e tenha em mãos um fragmento tangível dessa Paris esquecida.
