Mr. Luiz Leopoldo is a modeling enthusiast here in Brazil who sent me some photos of a beautiful project he completed based on an original model by the Japanese designer and modeler Masahiro Kushima from the Paper Model Studio website.
Mr. Leopoldo enlarged this aircraft carrier, focusing only on the bridge and the rear deck, at a 1/72 scale.
I asked him to write a few lines for this post, and he kindly provided the following text:
"As an aviation enthusiast for several decades, I saw the expanded construction of the CVN-78 as a challenge. I focus more on reading about the subject, consulting, and translating various aviation magazines.
As for papercraft, I had seen it on the internet before, with some websites offering these models for download and assembly, but I had never had an interest in delving into the subject.
About six months ago, I downloaded the papercraft file for the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), which I found very interesting. From there, I started imagining how to assemble it, but in a 1:72 scale, as I had seen others do with the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier, which is on display at the Musée de l’Air in Le Bourget, Paris, France, and others that appeared in FineScale magazine.
So, I took the initiative to build the bridge of the USS Gerald R. Ford.
Using the scaling factor of 4.8611, obtained by dividing 350 by 72, I began printing the sheets of the bridge of interest, improving the print quality by using 300 DPI. I printed everything on A4 paper, and I printed a portion of an image on adhesive paper to later attach it to cardboard.
If you have access to a plotter and adhesive paper, it would make the process much easier.
The rest involves creativity, patience, calm, and hard work to achieve the final result. It's a challenge I enjoyed, and there are already others in progress."

O Sr. Luiz fez uma ampliação desse porta-aviões, mas somente da ponte e do convés traseiro, na escala 1/72.

"Sendo entusiasta de aviação, já a algumas décadas, vi como um desafio a construção ampliada do CVN-78.
Me dedico mais a ler sobre o assunto, consultando e traduzindo várias revistas de aviação.
Quanto ao assunto papercraft, já tinha visto antes na internet, alguns site que dispõe esses modelos para abaixar e montar, mas nunca tive interesse em mergulhar no assunto.
Uns seis meses atrás, eu abaixei o arquivo papercraft do USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), na qual eu achei muito interessante, e dai fiquei imaginando como seria montar ele, mas na escala 1:72, na qual já tinha visto outras pessoas fazerem isso com o porta-aviões USS Enterprise, na qual tem um no Musée de l’Air, em Le Bourget, em Paris, na França, e outros, que apareceu na revista FineScale.
Então tomei a iniciativa de montar a ponte do USS Gerald R. Ford.
Usando o valor de 4,8611, para ampliação, dividindo 350 por 72. Comecei a imprimir as folhas de interesse da ponte, mas melhorando a qualidade da impressão, usando 300ppp, tudo impresso em impressora A4, imprimindo em folha adesiva parte de uma imagem, para depois colar em cartolina.
Se tiver como imprimir em plotter com folha adesiva, facilitaria muito mais.
O resto é criatividade, paciência, calma e trabalho, para obter esse resultado final. Um desafio que gostei, e já tem outros a caminho..."

About the Ephemeral Museum:
I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents.
I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like.
With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation.
Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years.
I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal.
Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo.
Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração.
Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos.
Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:
