About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years. I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo. Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos. Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:

The Ephemeral Museum - The Red Brick House Paper Model Assembled by Aaron Akselrud

My friend, the North American modeler Aaron Akselrud built the Red Brick House paper model and kindly sent me a photo of his nice work. I know it will be repetitive, but I have to say that is always a good feeling see one of my models assembled by a friend modeler, and from so a distant country here from Brazil. Ray O`Bannon, from Ravensblight website, the North American designer of these cool and very original diorama, says: - "These three robots will serve as excellent minions to assist you in whatever diabolical plans you might be considering. They stand a little over five inches tall, they're easy to assemble and their various parts are seperate and interchangeable, so you can rebuild them in lots of different ways. Of course, robot minions have often been known to turn against their masters, but these machines would probably never actually try to destroy you. Honest... like totally probably never..."

Ray O`Bannon, do site Ravensblight, o designer norte-americano deste diorama super original, diz: - "Esses três robôs servirão como excelentes servos para ajudá-lo em quaisquer planos diabólicos que você possa estar arquitetando. Eles têm um pouco mais de 15 cm de altura, são fáceis de montar e suas várias partes são separadas e intercambiáveis, para que você possa reconstruí-los de várias maneiras diferentes. Obviamente, sabe-se que lacaios-robôs se voltam contra seus mestres, mas essas máquinas provavelmente nunca tentariam realmente destruí-lo. Honesto ... provavelmente quase nunca ..."

Here are three vintage paper models preserved and shared by The CMN, a collector and enthusiast of these ephemeral things. The CMN says: - "I started using Flickr to share moving paper toys by Dan Rudolph that were printed in newspapers between 1918 and 1923. In addition to the 29 toys that can be found on the Barnacle Press website, I have found and am in the process of cleaning up and sharing at least 30 more toys. I love vintage images. Before digital images were readily available, I collected rubber stamps that enterprising folks made, often using vintage images from old print sources. Also before digital images, I found the Dover Publishing Pictorial Archive and used their images in various projects. Now, with the amazing number of places that are preserving our history by digitizing their holdings I am searching out and sharing illustrations that many people might otherwise not see. I want to foster an appreciation of all the men and women whose artwork illuminated our lives before the invention and widespread use of photography."

Aqui estão três modelos de papel antigos preservados e compartilhados por The CMN, um colecionador e entusiásta dessas coisas efêmeras. Created by North American designer and modeler Ray Keim from Haunted Dimensions website and based on the classic 1964 TV series "The Addams Family", here is the "Neet Sweet Petite", the iconic home of the darkest family in pop culture. 

Mr. Keim says: - "Based solely on the single reference of the house shown in the Addams Family TV show opening. It was a originally just a matte painting. I made up the rest. My primary goal was to recreate the iconic front of the house."

This is the Getter Robot in a detailed and articulated paper model version created by Japanese designer and modeler Shunichi Makino, from Sc-Fi Papercraft website. Getter Robo, typically romanized as Getter Robot in various mangás, is a Super Robot mangá series created by Ken Ishikawa and Go Nagai, as well as an anime series produced by Toei Animation. The series was broadcast on Fuji TV from April 4, 1974 to May 8, 1975, with a total of 51 episodes. The manga was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday from April 7, 1974 to August 24, 1975.

Potala Palace Pop-Up Paper Model - by Takumi Fukushima

Created by Japanese designer Takumi Fukushima, this is the pop-up paper model version of the Potala Palace, a dzong fortress in the city of Lhasa, in Tibet. It was the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959, has been a museum since then, and is a World Heritage Site since 1994. The palace is named after Mount Potalaka, the mythical abode of the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. The 5th Dalai Lama started its construction in 1645 after one of his spiritual advisers, Konchog Chophel (died 1646), pointed out that the site was ideal as a seat of government, situated as it is between Drepung and Sera monasteries and the old city of Lhasa. It may overlay the remains of an earlier fortress called the White or Red Palace on the site, built by Songtsen Gampo in 637.

Criado pelo designer japonês Takumi Fukushima, este é o modelo de papel em estilo pop-up do Palácio de Potala. Ele está localizado em Lassa, no Tibete, ocupado pela China em 1950. Foi a principal residência do Dalai Lama, até à fuga do 14º Dalai Lama para Dharamsala, Índia, depois de uma revolta falhada, em 1959. Atualmente o palácio é um museu estadual da China. Recebeu o nome em referência ao Monte Potala, a morada de Cherenzig, ou Avalokiteshvara. O Palácio de Potala foi inscrito pela UNESCO no Património Mundial da Humanidade em 1994.
