Garage Stand Papercraft For Miniatures In 1/64 Scale - New Layered 3D Version - by Papermau - Download Now!

This 1/64 scale garage papercraft lets you build a realistic layered diorama stand for your diecast cars. This new version is updated with layered details that create a subtle 3D depth effect, making the model more realistic while keeping it simple and easy to build.

The original version, published back in 2021, was a very simple project that stayed on my hard drive for years before I finally decided to share it. To my surprise, it became one of the most viewed and downloaded models on the blog, and it still remains among the top posts of all time.

This new version keeps the same compact format and full compatibility with 1/64 scale diecast cars from brands such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, GreenLight and Majorette, but now includes separate elements like door frames, wall sections and signs that can be cut, reinforced and glued over the main structure, creating a nice layered relief effect.

The technique is simple and widely used in paper models, known as layered papercraft or 2.5D, where selected parts are slightly raised from the surface to add depth without making the build more complicated.

If you want to build your own garage with this 3D effect, the model is, as always, free, and the download is easy and safe, directly from Google Drive.

Another thing people often ask about is the blue car in the photos. It is a custom Hot Wheels Nash Metropolitan, known as the MetroRail version, released in the early 2000s, featuring metallic blue paint, flame graphics and an exposed engine, a classic casting that fits perfectly in garage scenes like this.

Just like the original version, the entire template fits on a single sheet of A4 or Letter size paper, and this time you can build two complete garage stands per page, each with its own extra parts for customization.

If you liked the previous versions, this one offers a small but noticeable upgrade in realism, while keeping the same simple and straightforward building experience.

Esta nova versão mantém o mesmo formato compacto e total compatibilidade com miniaturas na escala 1/64, como as das marcas Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, GreenLight e Majorette, mas agora inclui elementos separados como batentes de portas, partes das paredes e placas, que podem ser recortados, reforçados e colados sobre a base principal, criando um efeito de relevo bem interessante.

A técnica é simples e muito usada em maquetes de papel, conhecida como papercraft em camadas, ou 2.5D, onde algumas peças ficam levemente elevadas em relação à superfície, dando mais vida ao modelo sem complicar a montagem.

Outro detalhe que sempre me perguntam é sobre o carrinho azul das fotos. Ele é um Nash Metropolitan personalizado da Hot Wheels, na versão conhecida como Nash Metropolitan MetroRail, lançado originalmente na década de 2000, com pintura metálica azul, chamas laterais e motor exposto, um daqueles modelos clássicos que combinam muito bem com cenários de garagem.

Assim como na versão original, todo o template cabe em apenas uma folha tamanho A4 ou Carta, e desta vez é possível montar duas garagens completas por página, cada uma com suas próprias peças extras para personalização.

Free Classic Service Station Garage Papercraft For 1/64 Scale Diecast Cars - by Papermau - Download Now!

This free papercraft lets you build a classic 1/64 scale service station garage, perfect for displaying diecast cars like Hot Wheels and Matchbox. 

Inspired by old neighborhood repair shops that crossed decades collecting stories on their walls, this new 1/64 scale building was created especially for those who like to display their miniature cars in a setting that truly does them justice.

The facade combines exposed brick, aged plaster and a generous collection of classic automotive signs, creating that authentic service station look where time seems to have slowed down, leaving character in every detail.

Legendary brands appear side by side on the front and throughout the interior, reinforcing the retro atmosphere that turns this model into a small slice of another era. The real charm lies in the details. The interior is fully textured, with vintage posters, old advertisements and classic metal signs that help tell the story of this place.

The patterned block floor inside and the marked parking area outside complete the scene, transforming the model into a ready-made diorama for photos or a permanent display base for Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Maisto, GreenLight, Johnny Lightning and other 1/64 scale vehicles.

I included several extra elements to enrich the build and allow for different arrangements. There are loose tires, a tire rack, a Coca-Cola vending machine, an ice machine, various signs and signals, workbenches and other accessories that can be placed wherever you prefer. The idea is that each modeler can create a truly exclusive garage, rearranging the items and giving the scene a personal touch.

Another interesting feature is that, depending on which side you choose to highlight, front or back, the diorama changes completely. The front suggests a classic service station with fuel pumps and a sign-covered facade, while the reverse reveals a more intimate workshop environment, perfect for maintenance or storage scenes, as shown in the photos. It is practically two different settings in a single model.

The assembly is simple and straightforward, yet the final result has strong presence and personality. The complete model fits on five printed sheets, with all parts organized in a single PDF file. As always here on the blog, the download is free, easy and safe, hosted directly on Google Drive.

For this specific model, I recommend, from my own experience, using heavier paper, around 160 to 180 gsm. Because this garage has larger structural parts, a thicker paper helps the walls, base and facade keep their shape better, giving the finished model a stronger and cleaner look.

Using lighter paper does not make the build impossible, of course. But in that case, a good alternative is to glue the printed sheets onto a thicker backing paper, such as cardboard from cereal boxes or frozen food packaging. It is a simple solution that works very well and can make a big difference in the final result.

Para este modelo em específico eu recomendo, por experiência própria, usar um papel mais encorpado, por volta de 160 ou 180 gramas. Como esta garagem tem partes estruturais maiores, um papel mais grosso ajuda a manter melhor a forma das paredes, da base e da fachada, deixando o resultado final mais firme e mais bem acabado.

Isso não quer dizer que usar papel mais fino impeça a montagem. De forma alguma. Mas, nesse caso, uma boa solução é colar a folha impressa em um papelão mais rígido, como o das embalagens de cereais ou de alimentos congelados. É um recurso simples, barato e que funciona muito bem na prática.

J.A. Hawkin Car & Truck Repairs Papercraft - A Work In Progress

I am currently working on a new papercraft inspired by an old blueprint of a small garage called J.A. Hawkin Car & Truck Repairs, dated 1909, and in this post I am showing both the original drawing and the model I am developing based on it. 

The blueprint presents the front and west elevations of the building, complete with measurements in feet and inches, the tall false front typical of small American towns from the early twentieth century, a manual gas pump, and even a raised Shell Oil tank beside the structure. 

It is the kind of simple wooden building with horizontal siding that emerged alongside the first automobiles and trucks as they began appearing beyond major urban centers. 

According to the measurements shown in the drawing, the building would have been something between 24 and 30 feet wide and deep, with about 12 to 14 feet in height at the elevated front section. 

Converted to 1/64 scale, which is perfect for diecast cars like Hot Wheels and Matchbox, the model ends up approximately 11 to 14 centimeters wide and about 6 centimeters tall. It is compact, but just the right size to become a focal point in a small urban diorama set between 1900 and 1930. 

As I studied the blueprint more carefully, I started noticing some interesting details. Even though it is dated 1909 and includes technical measurements, the style of the drawing seems to go beyond a simple construction plan for a real building. 

The lettering is perfectly centered and balanced, the brand names such as Shell Oil and Olympic Tyres appear almost like scenic elements placed to tell a story, and the wood shading is rendered with a care that feels more illustrative than purely technical. All of this makes me believe that this blueprint was probably not the exact record of a specific building, but rather a later drawing inspired by real garages from the period, possibly created especially for model railroading or historical illustration. 

In my opinion, that only makes it more interesting. It feels designed to capture the essence of a 1909 repair shop, with harmonious proportions and iconic elements that translate beautifully into a scale model. 

In the images of this post you can see the original blueprint that serves as the foundation, the 3D model I am building with the main volumes and roof already defined, and also some of the artwork I am creating to turn everything into a proper papercraft, complete with aged wood textures, detailed doors, and the classic painted signage on the façade. 

The idea is to preserve the spirit of the original design while adding that Papermau touch, with subtle weathering, a bit of workshop grime, and the feeling of a building that has seen many engines roll through its doors. 

There is still plenty of work ahead refining proportions, doors, windows, and the large front gate so everything works well in 1/64 scale, but the model is already starting to develop its own personality. 

Soon I will bring more updates about this papercraft and show how it evolves. For now, here are the images of the blueprint, the model in progress, and the artwork that is giving life to this small 1909 garage.

Estou trabalhando em um novo papercraft inspirado em um blueprint antigo de uma pequena oficina chamada J.A. Hawkin Car & Truck Repairs, datada de 1909, e vou mostrar aqui tanto o desenho original quanto o modelo que estou desenvolvendo a partir dele. 

O blueprint apresenta a elevação frontal e lateral do prédio, com anotações em pés e polegadas, a fachada com frontão alto típica das pequenas cidades americanas do início do século passado, a bomba de gasolina manual e até um tanque elevado de Shell Oil ao lado. 

É o tipo de construção simples, toda em madeira com revestimento em tábuas horizontais, que surgiu junto com os primeiros automóveis e caminhões que começavam a circular fora dos grandes centros. 

Pelas medidas indicadas no desenho, o prédio teria algo entre 24 e 30 pés de largura e profundidade, com cerca de 12 a 14 pés de altura na parte frontal mais elevada. 

Convertendo para a escala 1/64, que é perfeita para carrinhos como Hot Wheels e Matchbox, o modelo fica com aproximadamente 11 a 14 centímetros de largura e cerca de 6 centímetros de altura. Um tamanho compacto, mas ideal para se destacar em um pequeno diorama urbano ambientado entre 1900 e 1930. 

Enquanto analisava o blueprint com mais atenção, comecei a perceber alguns detalhes interessantes. Apesar de estar datado como 1909 e trazer todas as cotas técnicas, o estilo do desenho parece ir além de um simples projeto de construção real. 

O letreiro está perfeitamente centralizado e equilibrado, as marcas como Shell Oil e Olympic Tyres aparecem posicionadas quase como elementos de cena, e o sombreamento da madeira tem um cuidado que parece pensado para encantar o observador. Isso me faz acreditar que esse blueprint provavelmente não é o registro exato de um prédio específico, mas sim um desenho criado posteriormente, inspirado em oficinas reais da época, talvez desenvolvido especialmente para modelismo ou ilustração histórica. 

Sinceramente, isso só torna o projeto ainda mais interessante. Ele parece ter sido pensado para capturar a essência de uma oficina de 1909, com proporções harmoniosas e elementos icônicos que funcionam muito bem em maquetes. 

Nas imagens deste post vocês podem ver o blueprint que está servindo de base, o modelo 3D que estou criando com volume, telhado e fachada já definidos, e também algumas das artes que estou desenvolvendo para transformar tudo em papercraft, com texturas de madeira envelhecida, portas detalhadas e o letreiro clássico na frente. 

A ideia é manter o espírito da construção original, mas dar aquele toque Papermau, com leve desgaste, um pouco de sujeira de oficina e aquele ar de prédio que já viu muitos motores passarem pela porta. 

Ainda há bastante trabalho pela frente ajustando proporções, portas, janelas e o portão frontal para que tudo funcione bem na escala 1/64, mas o modelo já começa a ganhar personalidade.

Classic Service Station Garage For 1/64 Diecast Cars This Week At Papermau!

This is the new 1/64 scale garage and workshop that I will be publishing here on the blog later this week. The model was specially designed for those who like to display diecast cars such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Maisto, Greenlight and Johnny Lightning, creating a simple yet character-filled setting inspired by old neighborhood garages and service stations that mix classic and modern automotive brands. 

The construction fits on four or five printed sheets and was designed for an uncomplicated assembly, with a sturdy structure and straightforward tabs, making it suitable for beginners as well as for those already familiar with dioramas. 

The façade combines brick walls with an aged plaster upper section, giving it that timeless local garage look that seems to have survived through the decades. 

The real charm lies in the details. The interior also features full textures, with pin-up posters, retro advertisements and automotive signs. Old and new brands appear side by side, just like in many real workshops where nostalgia and modernity share the same space. 

The interior floor and the exterior area were designed to enhance the display of vehicles, working both as a photographic backdrop and as a fixed base for a collection.
