The Ephemeral Museum - Copacabana Auto Service And The Old Garage Paper Models - Assembled by SergentFido

SergentFido is a Hot Wheels miniature collector and an active member of the BeamNG forum, the official community for the game BeamNG.drive, a realistic vehicle physics simulator known for its advanced damage modeling, collisions, and real-time physics. 

The forum is the main hub for players, modders, and developers to share ideas and projects. 

That’s where SergentFido started a thread called "My Little Die Casts and Town Project", where he posted the photos you see in this post. 

In them, you’ll spot the "Copacabana Auto Service" and "The Old Garage", two original papercraft models by Papermau, released between 2015 and 2017.

Both are in 1/64 scale, making them perfect for die-cast miniatures like Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, Johnny Lightning, and Greenlight Collectibles.

About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. 

I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. 

With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. 

Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years.

I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. 

Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo. 

Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. 

Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos. 

Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:

The Ephemeral Museum - Ravnerede Castle Vintage Papercraft Assembled by John Dunn

My friend John Dunn, from the USA, assembled this beautiful vintage paper model of a fictional castle, Ravnerede (Raven’s Nest). 

He kindly sent me some photos of his excellent work, and it is a pleasure to share them here on the blog. 

John said: - "This fantasy castle, Ravnerede, was printed in a Danish weekly, Illusteret Familie-Journal, in the early 1930s. 

The Great Depression was a world event and Europe was impoverished. Paper modeling was popular because even the poorest could afford it. 

This print was preserved and shared by Esben Rasmussen. We are so lucky to have these images preserved and shared. 

This is an easy build, and a good starter model. I always suggest a good base. Glue the printed base to some heavy cardboard or poster board. Press under weights for a day or two until totally dry and flat. 

This build goes easily, but there is a slight correction on the little tower by the bridge. You will find it easily if you size and dry fit.... 

When you download the files, get the original file with the highest resolution. This was printed on card stock, 8.5 x 11, laser printer." 

The Ravnerede paper model was originally published in Denmark and several other European countries by the magazine Illustreret Familie-Journal. 

Thanks to the work of Esben Rasmussen, a paper modeling enthusiast dedicated to preserving and digitizing historical cutouts, this rare piece has been rescued and made available for sharing.

Illustreret Familie-Journal was a highly influential Danish magazine, published between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 

Founded in 1877 by Carl Aller, the magazine featured a variety of content, including serialized stories, illustrations, informative articles, and, often, cutouts and paper toys for its readers. 

Due to its affordable price, the publication became extremely popular among middle-class and working-class families, establishing itself as a landmark in the Danish publishing industry and European popular culture of the time. 

John Dunn is a longtime friend of this blog and has contributed numerous works to the Ephemeral Museum.

Meu amigo John Dunn, dos EUA, montou este belo modelo de papel antigo de um castelo fictício, o Ravnerede (Ninho do Corvo). 

Ele gentilmente me enviou algumas fotos de seu excelente trabalho, e é um prazer compartilhá-las aqui no blog. 

John comentou: - "Este castelo de fantasia, Ravnerede, foi publicado em um semanário dinamarquês, o Illustreret Familie-Journal, no início da década de 1930. 

Naquela época, a Grande Depressão afetava o mundo inteiro, e a Europa estava empobrecida. A modelagem em papel era uma opção acessível, já que até os mais pobres podiam se dar ao luxo de montar esses modelos. 

Esta impressão foi preservada e compartilhada por Esben Rasmussen, e temos muita sorte de contar com essas imagens digitalizadas e disponíveis para todos. 

A montagem deste modelo é simples, sendo uma ótima opção para iniciantes. Sempre recomendo começar com uma boa base: cole a base impressa em um papelão grosso ou papel-cartão, pressionando-a sob pesos por um ou dois dias para que seque completamente e fique plana. 

Embora seja uma construção fácil, há uma pequena correção na torre menor, próxima à ponte. Você a identificará facilmente ao ajustar as peças a seco antes de colar. 

Para garantir a melhor qualidade, baixe o arquivo original na resolução mais alta disponível. O modelo foi impresso em papel-cartão, usando uma impressora a laser no formato 8,5 x 11 polegadas." 

O modelo de papel do castelo Ravnerede foi originalmente publicado na Dinamarca e em diversos países da Europa pela revista Illustreret Familie-Journal. 

Graças ao trabalho de Esben Rasmussen, um entusiasta da modelagem em papel dedicado à preservação e digitalização de recortáveis históricos, essa peça rara pôde ser resgatada e compartilhada.

The Ephemeral Museum - The Warehouse Paper Model For Dioramas, RPG And Wargames - Assembled by Hot Wheels Forever

A friend of the blog who introduced himself only as Hot Wheels Forever, from Italy, who by the name we can already tell is a big fan of Hot Wheels miniatures, kindly sent me by email some photos of the assembly he made of the papercraft of the Warehouse, an original Papermau paper model that is easy to assemble and takes up only two printed sheets.

If printed in A4 or Letter format, the Warehouse will be in a perfect scale for 1/64 scale vehicle miniatures, such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox and similar. 

I revised this model in 2023 and republished it here on the blog and if you liked it, you can easily and safely download it, directly from Google Drive in PDF format. 

If you want to download the PDO format (which can be opened and modified in Pepakura), you can do so directly on the official Pepakura Gallery website. 

If you choose the PDO (Pepakura format) model to view and print it, you will need the Pepakura Viewer Free Version (link at the end of this post). Have fun.

Um amigo do blog que se apresentou apenas como Hot Wheels Forever, da Itália, que pelo nome já percebemos que é um grande fã de miniaturas Hot Whells, gentilmente enviou-me por e-mail algumas fotos da montagem que ele fez do papercraft do Armazém, um modelo de papel original Papermau que é fácil de montar e ocupa apenas duas folhas impressas.

Se impresso em formato A4 ou Carta, o Armazém ficará em uma escala perfeita para miniaturas de veículos na escala 1/64, tais como Hot Wheels, Matchbox e similares. Eu revisei este modelo em 2023 e republiquei aqui no blog e se você gostou, pode baixá-lo facil e seguramente, direto do Google Drive no formato PDF.

The Ephemeral Museum - Flying A Garage Stand Paper Model Assembled by Thmini775

All the photos you see in this post are by Thmini775, a friend here from Brazil who is a digital content creator and collector of 1/64 scale miniatures, such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox and similar.

Attention: If you want to build your own "Flying A Garage", know that, for now, I have only published the 1/43 scale version for download.

So, if you want to do like Thmini775 and set up the garage for the size of 1/64 miniatures, you will have to program your printer to reduce the size of the sheet by more or less 20% at the time of printing or do this process in an image editor.
