WW2´s British Cruiser Tank A34 Comet Paper Model - by PR Models

Created by Czech designer and modeler Michal "Pařan" Tichý, from PR Models website, here is a miniature paper model of the Cruiser Tank A34 Comet in 1/100 scale. The Cruiser Tank A34 Comet was a British cruiser tank that first saw use near the end of World War II. It was designed as an improvement on the earlier Cromwell tank, mounting the new 77 mm HV gun in a new lower profile and part-cast turret. This gun was effective against late-war German tanks, including the Panther at medium range, and the Tiger. The tank was widely respected as one of the best British tanks of the war, and continued in service afterwards. The Comet saw action in the closing stages of World War II and remained in British service until 1958. In some cases, Comets sold to other countries continued to operate into the 1980s.

O Tanque Cruzador Comet foi um tanque britânico que foi usado pela primeira vez no final da Segunda Guerra Mundial. This is the Sinking Battleship Yamato with Sunset Background, a paper model offered by Paper Model Studio, Japanese website. Yamato was the lead ship of her class of battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) shortly before World War II. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed, displacing 72,800 tonnes at full load and armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 in) Type 94 main guns, which were the largest guns ever mounted on a warship. Named after the ancient Japanese Yamato Province, Yamato was designed to counter the numerically superior battleship fleet of the United States, Japan's main rival in the Pacific. She was laid down in 1937 and formally commissioned a week after the Pearl Harbor attack in late 1941. On 7 April 1945 she was sunk by American carrier-based bombers and torpedo bombers with the loss of most of her crew.

About Toys In The Attic by Papermau:

Toys in the Attic is the third album by American rock band Aerosmith, released in April 1975. Is also a name of a 1963`s drama movie with Dean Martin and Geraldine Page. Now, because this is a really nice name, this will be the name of a new session of Papermau`s blog. In this session I will share old original and exclusive paper models posted more than a year here in the blog. It's a way of not letting these models get lost among over 3,000 posts in a year and a half of existence of the blog.

Toys in the Attic (Brinquedos no Sotão) é o nome do terceiro album da banda norte-americana de rock Aerosmith, lançado em 1975. É também o nome de um drama para o cinema de 1963 chamado aqui no Brasil de Na Voragem das Paixões, que contava no elenco com Dean Martin (o parceiro do Rat Pack e de Jerry Lewis) e Geraldine Page. Agora, porque eu acho esse um título muito legal, Toys in the Attic será o nome de uma nova sessão do blog Papermau. Nesta sessão eu publicarei antigos modelos de papel originais e exclusivos postados há um ano ou mais. The Real Thing

This is the Mitsubishi A6M Zero Aircraft, here in a very well done paper version in 1/48 scale, created by Japanese designer Mr. Cube, from Lazy Life website. The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a long-range fighter aircraft, manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940 to 1945. The A6M was designated as the Mitsubishi Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter, and also designated as the Mitsubishi A6M Rei-sen and Mitsubishi Navy 12-shi Carrier Fighter. The A6M was usually referred to by its pilots as the "Reisen",{zero fighter},"0" being the last digit of the Imperial year 2600 (1940) when it entered service with the Imperial Navy. The official Allied reporting name was "Zeke", although the use of the name "Zero" was later commonly adopted by the Allies as well. When it was introduced early in World War II, the Zero was considered the most capable carrier-based fighter in the world, combining excellent maneuverability and very long range. In early combat operations, the Zero gained a legendary reputation as a dogfighter, achieving the outstanding kill ratio of 12 to 1, but by mid-1942 a combination of new tactics and the introduction of better equipment enabled the Allied pilots to engage the Zero on generally equal terms. The Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service ("IJNAS") also frequently used the type as a land-based fighter. By 1943, inherent design weaknesses and the failure to develop more powerful aircraft engines meant that the Zero became less effective against newer enemy fighters, which possessed greater firepower, armor, and speed, and approached the Zero's maneuverability. Although the Mitsubishi A6M was outdated by 1944, design delays and production difficulties of newer Japanese aircraft types meant that it continued to serve in a front line role until the end of the war. During the final years of the War in the Pacific, the Zero was also adapted for use in kamikaze operations. During the course of the war, Japan produced more Zeros than any other model of combat aircraft.

Este é o avião Mitsubishi A6M Zero, aqui em uma bela versão em papel na escala 1/48, criada pelo designer japonês Mr. Cube, do site Lazy Life. O Mitsubishi A6M Zero foi o principal caça da marinha japonesa durante toda a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Ganhou reputação de invencível no início da participação nipônica no conflito, com poder de manobra, alcance e razão de subida inigualáveis por qualquer caça ocidental, tanto de terra quanto embarcado. Foi também o avião usado tanto por Hiroyoshi Nishizawa o maior piloto japonês desta guerra; quanto por Saburo Sakai, o maior ás japonês que sobreviveu ao conflito. Tinha um defeito fundamental: para que pudesse ter a leveza e o poder de manobra que tinha, era privado de blindagem em relação à cabine do piloto e ao tanque de combustível, o que a exemplo de outros aviões de guerra japoneses do início do conflito, o tornava extremamente vulnerável ao fogo inimigo. Vulnerabilidade esta, típica desses vários modelos de aviões de combate japoneses, responsável pela morte de muitos tripulantes que ao longo do conflito fizeram falta pela sua quantidade e experiência em momentos críticos para o Japão. Embora insuperável no combate individual, os aliados ainda em 1942 desenvolveram táticas de combate aéreo em grupo que cedo começaram a anular tal vantagem. E logo que modelos aliados equivalentes ou mais aperfeiçoados começaram a entrar em serviço ao final de 1943, foi superado, sendo porém mantido como principal caça nipônico na linha de frente por falta de uma política industrial que produzisse em grande escala algum de seus substitutos que já estavam disponiveís em meados de 1944, como entre outros o Kawanishi N1K ou Shiden (também apelidado pelos pilotos ocidentais de ``George´´). O Zero foi muito famoso também por ter sido o principal avião utilizado pelos Kamikazes, sendo considerado ainda hoje uma obra incrível de engenharia que marcou o início da tecnologia de alta precisão japonesa. Akitsu Maru was a Japanese landing craft depot ship and escort aircraft carrier operated by the Imperial Japanese Army. In some sources Akitsu Maru and her sister ship Nigitsu Maru are also considered to be the first amphibious assault ships. Akitsu Maru was a passenger liner taken over before completion by the Imperial Japanese Army. The ship was fitted with a flight deck above the hull, but had no hangar so the aircraft were stored below the flight deck on the original main deck. Conventional aircraft were able to fly off from her deck but could not land aboard due to the short deck length and lack of landing mechanisms, although in July 1944 KX arresting gear was fitted on the flight deck. On Thursday 18 November 1943 Akitsu Maru, while in company with the torpedo boat Tomozuru, was torpedoed off the entrance to Manila Bay by the United States submarine Crevalle. Crevalle incorrectly reported Akitsu Maru as sunk. Akitsu Maru was sunk by the United States submarine Queenfish on 15 November 1944. There were 2,046 men, mainly of the IJA's 64th Infantry Regiment, who were killed. Her sister ship Nigitsu Maru was sunk by the submarine Hake on 12 January 1944, with the loss of 574 men.

Em algumas fontes, Akitsu Maru e seu navio irmão Nigitsu Maru também são considerados os primeiros navios de assalto anfíbio. About Toys In The Attic by Papermau:

Toys in the Attic is the third album by American rock band Aerosmith, released in April 1975. Is also a name of a 1963`s drama movie with Dean Martin and Geraldine Page. Now, because this is a really nice name, this will be the name of a new session of Papermau`s blog. In this session I will share old original and exclusive paper models posted more than a year here in the blog. It's a way of not letting these models get lost among over 7.000 posts in the four years of the blog.


Toys in the Attic (Brinquedos no Sotão) é o nome do terceiro album da banda norte-americana de rock Aerosmith, lançado em 1975. É também o nome de um drama para o cinema de 1963 chamado aqui no Brasil de Na Voragem das Paixões, que contava no elenco com Dean Martin (o parceiro do Rat Pack e de Jerry Lewis) e Geraldine Page. Agora, porque eu acho esse um título muito legal, Toys in the Attic será o nome de uma nova sessão do blog Papermau. Nesta sessão eu publicarei antigos modelos de papel originais e exclusivos postados há um ano ou mais. Esta é a maneira que encontrei para que estes modelos não fiquem perdidos e esquecidos entre mais de 7.000 postagens feitas em quatro anos de existência do blog.

WW2`s Morane-Saulnier M.S.406 Aircraft - A Vintage Paper Model by Thecmn

Originally published during World War II by French publisher Marabout Junior, this easy-to-build vintage paper model of the Morane-Saulnier M.S.406 Fighter was preserved and is now shared by Thecmn, a collector of old papercrafts. The M.S.406 was a French Air Force fighter aircraft built by Morane-Saulnier starting in 1938. Numerically, it was France's most important fighter during the opening stages of World War II.

This very well done paper model version of the Yokosuka K5Y 'Willow' Type 93 aircraft was created by Japanese designer and modeler Hiroshi Tozawa. You will find the model in two versions: regular and amphibious. The Yokosuka K5Y 'Willow' Type 93 Intermediate Trainer was the most widely produced training aircraft produced in Japan, and remained in production from 1933 to 1945.

This very well done paper model version in 1/100 scale of the WW2`s Nakajima Kikka aircraft was created by Japanese designer Etsutan.
The Nakajima Kikka (Orange Blossom in Japanese) was Japan's first jet aircraft. It was developed late in World War II and the first prototype had only flown once before the end of the conflict. It was also known as Kōkoku Nigō Heiki (Imperial Weapon No.2). Several engineering problems made it difficult to finalize the project, but by mid-1945, the Kikka project was progressing well and, at this stage, reflecting the deterioration of the war situation, it is possible that the Navy considered employing Kikka as a Kamikaze weapon, but however this perspective has always been questioned due to the high cost and complexity associated with contemporary turbojets engines. - know more at Nakajima.Kikka.at.Wikipedia

Japanese designer Taki, from Paper Factory website, said: - "These are not accurate models. They are called SD (super deformed) models. Although it's basically a paper job, you can use toothpicks and bamboo chopsticks in addition to paper. For anyone who has never set up a paper model, it may be a bit difficult the first time, but if you put some machines together you end up getting the hang of it. The development is basically handmade. Do not worry about failures and mistakes. Do this as fun and not as an obligation."

O designer japonês Taki, do site da Paper Factory, disse: - "Estes não são modelos precisos. São chamados de modelos SD (super deformados). Ainda que seja basicamente um trabalho em papel, você pode usar palitos de dente e pauzinhos de bambu, além do papel. Para quem nunca montou um modelo de papel, pode ser um pouco difícil na primeira vez, mas se você montar algumas máquinas você acaba pegando o jeito. O desenvolvimento é basicamente artesanal. Não se preocupe com falhas e erros. Faça isso como diversão e não como obrigação.
