Thirteenth day of quarantine. In official numbers, Brazil has 163 deaths and 4,630 cases of Covid 19. There are certainly more cases, as in the whole world. There is no way to test everyone, it is impossible, even for first world countries. Many people are infected and do not even know, have no symptoms and will not. In the United States, the quarantine was extended until the end of April. If this is done in Brazil, with the economic conditions that we live in, at the end of the quarantine we will have 40 million unemployed. Dilemma. How many will die from the virus and how many will die from the recession / depression?
Yesterday was Sunday. Today is Monday but it looks like Sunday. Every day feels like a long, cloudy Sunday. The mainstream media preaches total and mandatory confinement and continues the President's frying process. The President insists that the country cannot stop. A "Sofia's Choice" of continental proportions with unpredictable results. It cannot be compared to the Plague of the Middle Ages, as there was no mobility as it is today and it was propagated by the flea of rats and not by a virus. The closest we have is the Spanish Flu (Influenza) of 1918 that killed 50 million people worldwide and even victimized President Rodrigues Alves, here in Brazil. The epidemic grew until the end of 1918 and from then on, it started to fall all over the world. One explanation for the rapid decline of the disease is that doctors have become more effective in preventing and treating pneumonia that developed after the virus contracted. Another theory holds that the virus has mutated extremely quickly to a less lethal form. Hopefully it will be like that with Covid 19 as well.
Here at home, many doubts about the future. Brazil is a poor country, many people live off the money earned today to eat tomorrow. Sofia's Choice hangs over our heads.

Décimo terceiro dia da quarentena. Em números oficiais, o Brasil tem 163 mortos e 4.630 casos de Covid 19. Há muito mais casos, com certeza, como em todo o mundo. Não há como testar todas as pessoas, é impossível, mesmo para países de primeiro mundo. Muitas pessoas estão infectadas e nem sabem, não apresentam sintomas e nem apresentarão. Nos Estados Unidos a quarentena foi ampliada até o final de Abril. Se isso for feito no Brasil, com as condições econômicas que vivemos, no final da quarentena teremos 40 milhões de desempregados. Dilema. Quantos morrerão pelo vírus e quantos morrerão devido à recessão/depressão?
Ontém foi Domingo. Hoje é Segunda mas parece Domingo. Todos os dias parecem um Domingo longo e nublado. A grande mídia prega o confinamento total e obrigatório e continua o processo de fritura do Presidente. O Presidente insiste que o país não pode parar. Uma "Escolha de Sofia" de proporções continentais com resultados imprevisíveis. Não se pode comparar à Peste da Idade Média, pois não havia mobilidade como nos dias de hoje e ela era propagada pela pulga dos ratos e não por um vírus. O mais próximo que temos é a Gripe Espanhola (Influenza) de 1918 que matou 50 milhões de pessoas em todo o mundo e inclusive vitimou o Presidente Rodrigues Alves, aqui no Brasil. A epidemia cresceu até o final de 1918 e a partir daí, começou a cair em todo o mundo. Uma das explicações para o rápido declínio da doença é a de que os médicos se tornaram mais eficazes na prevenção e tratamento da pneumonia que se desenvolvia após a contração do vírus. Outra teoria sustenta que o vírus sofreu uma mutação extremamente rápida para uma forma menos letal. Esperemos que seja assim também com o Covid 19.
Aqui em casa, muitas duvidas quanto ao futuro. O Brasil é um país pobre, muitas pessoas vivem do dinheiro ganho hoje para comer amanhã. A Escolha de Sofia paira sobre nossas cabeças.
