The Real Thing

The Douglas F3D Skyknight was the first jet that was designed as a nightfighter. It was successfully flown in combat in the Korea war. After serving mostly as a trainer for radar operators, it was used again during the Vietnam war as an ECM-aircraft. An electronic countermeasure (ECM) is an electrical or electronic device designed to trick or deceive radar, sonar or other detection systems, like infrared (IR) or lasers. - Stahlhart


O Douglas F3D Skyknight foi o primeiro jato desenhado como "caça noturno". Ele serviu com sucesso na Guerra da Corea. Depois de ser usado como avião de treino para operadores de radar, ele novamente entrou em operação na Guerra do Vietnan como um ECM.
