This very interesting 1/64 scale papercraft reproduces the Super Ambulance, a special emergency vehicle operated by the Tokyo Fire Department in Japan.
Unlike a conventional ambulance, this impressive vehicle was designed to deal with large-scale disasters and accidents involving many casualties. In addition to transporting patients like a normal ambulance, when necessary its body can expand sideways, considerably increasing the usable space inside.
With both sides extended, the real Super Ambulance can be transformed into a mobile emergency medical station, with space for eight folding treatment beds. This makes it possible for medical teams to provide assistance directly at the scene of a major emergency.
The paper model was created by Japanese designer Masahiro Kushima, from the Kamimokei Koubou website, and is presented in 1/64 scale, which makes it especially interesting for collectors of miniature vehicles in the same scale, such as Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Majorette and similar models.
There are two versions available for free download. The first represents the Super Ambulance in its normal configuration and is surprisingly simple: the entire vehicle fits on a single A4 sheet and the main body is basically one piece, requiring only cutting, folding and gluing the corresponding tabs.
The second version is much more unusual and shows the vehicle in its fully expanded emergency configuration. The side compartments are opened and a ramp is added to the rear entrance, reproducing the Super Ambulance when it is being used as a mobile medical station. This version uses three A4 sheets.
The website also provides useful information about the symbols used on the templates, mountain and valley folds, cutting points and recommended paper thickness.
For those who collect 1/64 scale vehicles or enjoy building unusual emergency vehicles, this is certainly a very interesting model.
Este papercraft muito interessante em escala 1/64 reproduz a Super Ambulance, uma ambulância especial utilizada pelo Corpo de Bombeiros de Tóquio, no Japão.
Diferente de uma ambulância convencional, este impressionante veículo foi projetado para atuar em grandes desastres e acidentes envolvendo muitas vítimas. Além de poder transportar pacientes como uma ambulância normal, quando necessário sua carroceria pode se expandir lateralmente, aumentando consideravelmente o espaço disponível em seu interior.
Com as duas laterais abertas, a Super Ambulance real pode ser transformada em um posto médico móvel de emergência, com espaço para oito macas de atendimento dobráveis. Desta forma, equipes médicas podem prestar atendimento diretamente no local de uma grande emergência.
