Along with Byodo-in Temple Ho-o-do (Phoenix Hall),
Chuson-ji Temple Konjiki-do (Golden Hall) is one of the most famous structures from the late
Heian period. It is a brilliant
Buddhist temple with a hall that is embossed with gold leaf on both the interior and exterior. It was built in
1124 by
Oshu Fujiwara-shi (the
Northern Fujiwara clan) as a corner of
Chuson-ji in Hiraizumi, Nishiiwai District, Iwate Prefecture. It is a small
Buddhist temple measuring about 5.5 meters on each side. It originally sat outdoors in the open air, but it is now enclosed in a wooden building that was built around it to prevent further deterioration.
Chuson-ji Temple Konjiki-do was listed as a
World Heritage Site in
2011. -

Unesco (Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, Ciência e Cultura). Um destes pontos entrou na lista em junho passado:
Hiraizumi.
Hiraizumi é uma das muitas cidades com templos históricos do
Japão. Fundada no
século 12, era um centro político e comercial na região norte do arquipélago. A
Unesco reconheceu o legado da
família Fujiwara, que rivalizava
Kyoto, então capital, e estabeleceu uma central de poder com as melhores técnicas artísticas e arquitetônicas da época. O sinal mais significativo do passado de poder local é o
templo de Chusonji, com peças elaboradas de um rico design do auge de
Hiraizumi. Konjikido, literalmente traduzido como
Hall Dourado, foi a única estrutura original a sobreviver por guerras e incêndios.
Konjikido é toda coberta por folhas douradas por dentro e por fora, cheia de estátuas de
Buda no altar. Apesar e estar na região noroeste do Japão, felizmente não foi afetada pelo terremoto deste ano. -
