The Carnival of Barranquilla is one of Colombia's most important folkloric celebrations, and one of the biggest carnival in the world. The carnival has traditions that date back to the 19th century. Four days before Holy Month, Barranquilla decks itself out to receive national and foreign tourists and joins together with the city's inhabitants to enjoy four days of intense festivities. During the carnival, Barranquilla's normal activities are paralyzed because the city gets busy with street dances, musical and masquerade parades.
O Carnaval de Barranquilla é uma das celebrações folclóricas mais importantes da Colômbia e uma das maiores do mundo. O carnaval tem tradições que datam do século XIX. Quatro dias antes do mês sagrado, Barranquilla se prepara para receber turistas nacionais e estrangeiros que se unem aos habitantes da cidade para desfrutar de quatro dias de intensas festividades. Durante o carnaval, as atividades normais de Barranquilla são paralisadas porque a cidade se ocupa de danças de rua, desfiles musicais e bailes de máscaras.
