This paper model of a Saber-Tooth Tiger (Smilodon) was created by Japanese designer Katsuyuki Shiga Pinoart and is part of the "Prehistoric Animals" series.
Smilodon is a genus of the extinct machairodont subfamily of the felids. It is one of the most famous prehistoric mammals, and the best known saber-toothed cat. Although commonly known as the saber-toothed tiger, it was not closely related to the tiger or other modern cats. Smilodon lived in the Americas during the Pleistocene epoch (2.5 mya–10,000 years ago).

Smilodon (Esmilodonte-PT) é um gênero extinto de felídeo da subfamília Machairodontinae. É o mais conhecido dos dentes-de-sabre e viveu durante o Pleistoceno (há entre 2,5 milhões e 10 mil anos). Mais especificamente, Esmilodontes percorriam a América do Sul e Norte há cerca de 700.000 anos a 11.000 anos atrás.
