The Cine Odeon is a papercraft model where I tried to recreate the charm and nostalgic atmosphere of small neighborhood movie theaters from the 1980s.
The building features a three-story red-brick structure with simple windows and a front façade highlighted by a retro-style illuminated sign.
The name Cine Odeon, both on the marquee and on the rooftop, was designed to resemble old neon letters - thick, outlined, and brightly glowing, as if flickering to life at dusk.
On the main façade, the marquee shows a very special lineup: "The Goonies", "Rambo", "E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial", and "The Lost Boys" - all classic films from the 1980s that reinforce the nostalgic spirit of the model and clearly set the period it evokes.
The entrance is decorated with colorful posters from these movies, a central ticket booth, and an old-style mechanical turnstile, inviting the viewer to step into this small temple of pop cinema.
For added realism, I included on the rooftop not only the structure supporting the large sign, but also a skylight and a small utility room - that simple, windowless structure with a single door providing access to the roof.
On the side walls, vintage advertisements for tonics and cereals - such as the famous baby from "Groves Chill Tonic" - complete the retro atmosphere, reminiscent of the poster-covered façades once common in city streets.
Altogether, the Cine Odeon is a tribute to the simple, charismatic architecture of old movie houses and to the golden era of the 1980s, when neon lights and film posters turned local theaters into gathering spots for the whole neighborhood.
I started sketching this model back in 2019 and only finished it today. Sometimes creativity and procrastination walk side by side - ideas need time, they slowly mature... or, honestly, they just get lost through plain laziness, or buried under so many others piling up over time.
In the end, all of this becomes part of the process, and the result feels even more rewarding when it finally takes shape.

O Cine Odeon é um papercraft em que tentei recriar co charme e o clima nostálgico das salas de cinema de bairro dos anos 1980.
A construção apresenta um prédio de tijolos vermelhos de três andares, com janelas simples e fachada frontal destacada pelo letreiro luminoso em estilo retrô.
O nome Cine Odeon, tanto na marquise quanto no topo do edifício, foi desenhado para lembrar as antigas letras de neon - volumosas, contornadas e com brilho intenso, como se piscassem ao cair da noite.
Na fachada principal, uma programação muito especial: “Goonies”, “Rambo”, “E.T. - O Extraterrestre” e “The Lost Boys” - todos clássicos da década de 1980, que reforçam o caráter saudosista do modelo e ajudam a situar o período que ele evoca.
A entrada do cinema é adornada com pôsteres coloridos desses filmes, a bilheteria central e uma porta com uma antiga catraca analógica, convidando o visitante a “entrar” nesse pequeno templo da sétima arte pop.
Para mais realismo, incluí no topo do prédio, além da estrutura que sustenta o grande letreiro, uma claraboia e um volume técnico (aquela pequena estrutura sem janelas, com apenas uma porta, que dá acesso à cobertura).
Nas laterais, anúncios antigos de tônicos e cereais - como o famoso bebê do "Groves Chill Tonic" - completam o clima retrô, remetendo às fachadas cheias de cartazes que se viam nas cidades de antigamente.
Em conjunto, o Cine Odeon é uma homenagem à arquitetura simples e carismática dos cinemas de rua e à era dourada dos anos 80, quando os filmes em cartaz e os letreiros de neon eram o ponto de encontro de toda a vizinhança.
Comecei a esboçar este modelo em 2019 e só hoje finalmente o concluí. Às vezes, criação e procrastinação caminham juntas - as ideias precisam de tempo, amadurecem aos poucos... ou, sinceramente, ficam esquecidas por pura preguiça, ou perdidas em meio a tantas outras que se acumulam umas sobre as outras.
No fim, tudo isso faz parte do processo, e o resultado se torna ainda mais gratificante quando finalmente ganha forma.
