This is the Old Brazilian Sobrado. This model was one of the first paper models that I drew. It was totally created and textured in MsPaint. it was originally posted here on the blog on June 25, 2011.

Este é o Velho Sobrado Brasileiro. Este modelo de papel foi um dos primeiros modelos que eu desenhei. Ele foi totalmente criado e texturizado no MsPaint e foi originalmente postado aqui no blog em 25 de Junho de 2011.

Before the model was separated into multiple sheets in JPG format. Now they were all gathered in a single file in PDF format. This eliminates the possibility of print in different resolutions, which affects the size of the pieces.

About Toys In The Attic by Papermau:

Toys in the Attic is the third album by American rock band Aerosmith, released in April 1975. Is also a name of a 1963`s drama movie with Dean Martin and Geraldine Page. Now, because this is a really nice name, this will be the name of a new session of Papermau`s blog. In this session I will share old original and exclusive paper models posted more than a year here in the blog. It's a way of not letting these models get lost among over 7.000 posts in the four years of the blog.


Toys in the Attic (Brinquedos no Sotão) é o nome do terceiro album da banda norte-americana de rock Aerosmith, lançado em 1975. É também o nome de um drama para o cinema de 1963 chamado aqui no Brasil de Na Voragem das Paixões, que contava no elenco com Dean Martin (o parceiro do Rat Pack e de Jerry Lewis) e Geraldine Page. Agora, porque eu acho esse um título muito legal, Toys in the Attic será o nome de uma nova sessão do blog Papermau. Nesta sessão eu publicarei antigos modelos de papel originais e exclusivos postados há um ano ou mais. Esta é a maneira que encontrei para que estes modelos não fiquem perdidos e esquecidos entre mais de 7.000 postagens feitas em quatro anos de existência do blog.

Inca Mythology - Viracocha Mask Paper Model - by Atlas Digital & Cubotoy

Occupying only three printed sheets, this very original decorative paper model of a Viracocha Mask was created by designers Atlas Digital and Cubotoy for Canon Japan website.

Viracocha is the great creator deity in the pre-Inca and Inca mythology in the Andes region of South America. Full name and some spelling alternatives are Wiracocha, Apu Qun Tiqsi Wiraqutra, and Con-Tici (also spelled Kon-Tiki, the source of the name of Thor Heyerdahl's raft). Viracocha was one of the most important deities in the Inca pantheon and seen as the creator of all things, or the substance from which all things are created, and intimately associated with the sea. Viracocha created the universe, sun, moon, and stars, time (by commanding the sun to move over the sky) and civilization itself. Viracocha was worshipped as god of the sun and of storms. He was represented as wearing the sun for a crown, with thunderbolts in his hands, and tears descending from his eyes as rain.

Ocupando apenas três folhas impressas, este modelo de papel decorativo muito original de uma Máscara Viracocha foi criado pelos designers Atlas Digital e Cubotoy para o site da Canon Japão.

Viracocha é a grande divindade criadora da mitologia pré-Inca e Inca na região dos Andes da América do Sul. O nome completo e algumas alternativas de ortografia são Wiracocha, Apu Qun Tiqsi Wiraqutra e Con-Tici (também escrito Kon-Tiki, a fonte do nome da balsa de Thor Heyerdahl). Brick Street Diorama Paper Model - Revised Version - by Papermau Download Now!

This was the third original Papermau model posted here on the blog in the distant year of 2011. I really like this diorama because it was created in MsPaint, a very simple program, at a time when things were much simpler. I have a lot of good memories from that time when I had less responsibility and the days seemed longer and sunnier. I believe I don't have more the time or patience to create things like this and not even the same pleasure as before. Anyway, here's the model for those who want to assemble. No instructions. Look at the pictures, it's not that hard. I passed the templates to a single PDF which makes it easy to print and also, on request, hosted this PDF on Google Drive and no longer on the infamous AdFly, with its malware traps. I'm slowly moving all my models to Google Drive, so I advise blog friends to expect their favorite model to be available there, ok? Good Sunday everyone!

Este foi o terceiro modelo Papermau original postado aqui no blog, no longinquo ano de 2011. Eu gosto muito deste diorama pois foi criado no MsPaint, um programa bem simples, em um tempo em que as coisas eram bem mais simples. Tenho muitas lembranças boas dessa época, quando eu tinha menos responsabilidades e os dias pareciam mais longos e ensolarados. Eu acredito não ter mais tempo ou paciência para criar coisas assim e nem mesmo o mesmo prazer de antes. De qualquer forma, eis aí o modelo para aqueles que quiserem montar. Sem instruções. Olhem as fotos, não é tão difícil assim. Passei os templates para um único PDF o que facilita a impressão e também, atendendo a pedidos, hospedei este PDF no Google Drive e não mais no famigerado AdFly, com suas armadilhas de malwares. Estou aos poucos passando todos meus modelos para o Google Drive, então aconselho aos amigos do blog esperarem seu modelo favorito estar disponível lá, ok? Bom domingo a todos!

Dome Of The Rock Of Jerusalem Paper Model - by Secanda

This is the Dome of the Rock of Jerusalem, the newest paper model created by my friend, the French designer and modeler Secanda. The Dome of the Rock is an Islamic shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. It was initially completed in 691–92 CE at the order of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik during the Second Fitna on the site of the Second Jewish Temple, destroyed during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE. The original dome collapsed in 1015 and was rebuilt in 1022–23. The Dome of the Rock is in its core one of the oldest extant works of Islamic architecture. - You will find many other unique paper models there, as can be seen on the images of this post.

Some curiosities about Secanda and his creative process, in his own words: - "Secanda means "stuff to cut" in Latin language. I use just an old basic multilayer photo editor, that I use as a paper with pencil and compass. I don't use 3D editors because first I don't know at all how to use them and then I don't like very much the paper models made only with 3D tools. For my taste, they look often as nightclub mirror balls... For my taste again, it's better to feel the hand of the drawer even if the result is rougher and less perfect. However the real reason is maybe I'm too lazy or too stupid or too old, or the three in the same time, to learn how to use a 3D editor."

Esta é a Cúpula da Rocha em Jerusalém, o mais novo modelo de papel criado por meu amigo, o designer e modelista francês Secanda. A Cúpula da Rocha é um templo situado no monte do Templo, na Cidade Velha de Jerusalém, construído no século VII, sendo um dos sítios mais sagrados do Islã e uma das grandes obras da arquitectura islámica. Sua vistosa cúpula dourada é um dos pontos mais emblemáticos da cidade. O santuário é parte integrante do centro histórico de Jerusalém, declarado Patrimônio da Humanidade pela UNESCO em 1981. - Você vai encontrar muitos outros modelos exclusivos lá, como pode ser visto nas imagens deste post.

Algumas curiosidades sobre Secanda e seu processo criativo, nas palavras do próprio: - "Secanda significa "coisas para cortar" em latim. Eu uso apenas um velho editor de fotos básicas multicamadas, que uso como papel, lápis e compasso. Eu não uso editores 3D porque primeiro eu não sei como usá-los e eu não gosto muito dos modelos de papel feitos apenas com ferramentas 3D. Para o meu gosto, eles parecem frequentemente com bolas espelhadas de discoteca ... Na minha opinião novamente, é melhor sentir a mão no desenho, mesmo se o resultado for mais rude e menos perfeito. No entanto, a verdadeira razão é que talvez eu seja muito preguiçoso ou muito estúpido ou muito velho, ou os três ao mesmo tempo, para aprender como usar um editor 3D."
