The Plague Doctor - Some Curiosities About The Movie

Poveglia Island is where things happen in The Plague Doctor. Poveglia has haunted director Emanuele Mengotti’s dreams since he was a child. Born in Venice in 1986, he visited the island with his father, who mystified him with its terrifying tales and legends. After moving to Los Angeles to further his experience as a director, working tirelessly to transform the island, its atmosphere, and folklore into a feature film. The Plague Doctor is a psychological thriller set in Venice, with dark atmospheres inspired by stories and legends tied in with the mysterious Venetian mask of the plague doctor, and Poveglia, an ancient island of the Venetian Lagoon, known for its gruesome events. Upon being called to care for an elder, a young doctor finds himself trapped by deranged visions. The echoes of a timeless love cause him to mix reality with the obscure legend of a haunted Venetian island and the ancient Italian mask of the plague doctor.

A Ilha de Poveglia é o lugar aonde as coisas acontecem em The Plague Doctor. Poveglia tem assombrado os sonhos do diretor Emanuele Mengotti desde que ele era uma criança. Nascido em Veneza em 1986, visitou a ilha com seu pai, que o deixou impressionado com seus relatos aterrorizantes e lendas. Depois de se mudar para Los Angeles para aprimorar suas experiências como diretor, continuou trabalhando incansavelmente para eternizar a ilha, sua atmosfera e seu folclore em um longa-metragem. The Plague Doctor é um thriller psicológico ambientado em Veneza, de atmosfera sombria, inspirado em histórias e lendas ligadas à misteriosa máscara veneziana do Médico da Peste e a Poveglia, a antiga ilha da Lagoa de Veneza, conhecida por seus horríveis eventos. Ao ser chamado para cuidar de um ancião, um jovem médico encontra-se preso por visões perturbadoras. Os ecos de um amor intemporal fazem com que ele misture a realidade com a obscura lenda da assombrada ilha veneziana e a antiga máscara italiana do Médico da Peste.

This is the Poveglia Island Diorama, a paper model created exclusively for the Plague Doctor Crowdfunding. I recently had the honor of taking part in the project to promote The Plague Doctor movie, by Italian director and actor Emanuele Mengotti, and although my participation was very small and ephemeral (I only created a paper toy of the Plague Doctor and a diorama of the Island of Poveglia), I would like to thank Mr. Mengotti, Miss Sybilla Odenheimer and all the Plague Doctor team for their confidence in letting me create the models. The Plage Doctor paper toy and the Poveglia diorama are now part of the crowding of the movie and I would like to ask everyone who can help, somehow contributing to the crowdfunding, or in publicizing this project on your social networks and the like. Este é o Diorama da Ilha de Poveglia, um modelo de papel criado exclusivamente para o Plague Doctor Crowdfunding.Recentemente eu tive a honra de participar do projeto de divulgação do filme The Plague Doctor, do diretor e ator italiano Emanuele Mengotti, e embora minha participação tenha sido bem pequena e efêmera (eu apenas criei um paper toy do Plague Doctor e um diorama da Ilha de Poveglia), eu gostaria de agradecer ao Sr. Mengotti, Senhorita Sybilla Odenheimer e toda a equipe de The Plague Doctor em confiar-me a tarefa de criar os modelos. Mabinogi World - Guild Stone Of Hope Paper Model - by Nozaranto

With 14 cm tall and in 1/8 scale, this is the paper model version of the Guild Stone of Hope, from the videogame Mabinogi World. 

This paper model was created by Japanese designer Nozaranto, from PaperWorks website. A good model for Dioramas RPG and Wargames.  

To view and print this model you will need Pepakura Viewer Free Version (link at the end of this post). 

When the file opens, you will be asked for a password. Just ignore it and click on the option "open with Pekaura Viewer" that appears right below the password space.

Roman Cubiculum From Villa Of P. Fannius Synistor at Boscoreale by Papermau - Next Project

My next project is this Roman Cubiculum. This is the Room M of the Villa of P. Fannius Synistor at Boscoreale, buried and preserved by the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D. 79, and functioned as a bedroom. The rear wall shows rocky terrain with balustrades and an arbor above, a small cave or grotto sheltering a fountain. In the center of the wall, between two columns, a parapet embellished with a yellow monochrome landscape supports a glass bowl filled with fruit. The side walls of the room are symmetrical. Each wall is subdivided into four sections by a pilaster that defines the area of the couch and by two ornate columns. The paintings depict enclosed courtyards in which we glimpse the tops of statuary, rotundas, and pylons as well as vegetation. These precincts alternate with townscapes combining colonnaded buildings and projecting terraces. - MET Museum

Meu próximo projeto é este Cubículo Romano. Este é o Aposento M da Vila de P. Fannius Synistor em Boscoreale, enterrado e preservado pela erupção do Vesúvio em 79 A.C, que era usado como um quarto. A parede traseira mostra o terreno rochoso com balaustradas e um caramanchão acima, uma pequena caverna ou uma gruta que abriga uma fonte. No centro da parede, entre duas colunas, um parapeito decorado com uma paisagem monocromática amarela apoia uma espécie de taça de vidro cheia de frutas. As paredes laterais da sala são simétricas. Cada parede é subdividida em quatro seções por uma pilastra que define a área do sofá e por duas colunas ornamentadas. As pinturas representam pátios fechados em que vislumbramos as estátuas, as rotundas, e pilões, assim como a vegetação local. Esta decoração alterna-se com pinturas urbanas que combinam edifícios colunados e terraços projetados. - MET Museum
