Landing Of Columbus In America Vintage Diorama Paper Model
Preserved And Shared by Papermau
This beautiful paper model diorama representing the landing of Columbus in America , was originally published in 1946 by Atlantida, an Argentinian publisher. Download easily, directly from Google Docs.
The composition of the diorama is quite interesting, setting aside the dimensions to highlight Columbus, the main character.
The discovery of America refers to Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Caribbean islands in 1492, on behalf of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain.
Columbus was in search of a western route to the Indies, but instead, he reached the unknown lands of America.
This event marked the beginning of European colonization of the American continent. Classic perspectives on the discovery of America, mainly propagated in the centuries following Columbus's arrival, celebrated him as a hero and considered the discovery a triumph of European civilization.
This view glorified European explorers and downplayed the negative impacts of colonization on indigenous populations, such as exploitation, slavery, and the devastation of local cultures.
On the other hand, the revisionist perspective, which gained strength from the 20th century onwards, challenges this traditional view.
It highlights the negative aspects of colonization, including the brutal exploitation of native peoples, the spread of diseases that devastated indigenous populations, and the destruction of indigenous cultures.
Additionally, revisionists argue that it wasn't a "discovery" in the true sense, as American lands were already inhabited by native peoples long before Columbus's arrival.
In summary, the classic perspective celebrates Columbus and European colonization of America, while the revisionist perspective emphasizes the negative impacts and questions the concept of "discovery," giving more importance to the pre-existing presence of indigenous cultures in the Americas.
Baixe facilmente direto do Google Docs.
