The three wise monkeys, sometimes called the three mystic apes, are a pictorial maxim. Together they embody the proverbial principle to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil. There are various meanings ascribed to the monkeys and the proverb including associations with being of good mind, speech and action. In the Western world the phrase is often used to refer to those who deal with impropriety by turning a blind eye. Os Três Macacos Sábios ilustram a porta do Estábulo Sagrado, um templo do século XVII localizado no Santuário Toshogu, na cidade de Nikko, Japão. Sua origem é baseada em um trocadilho japonês. Construction Report - Osaka Castle Paper Model - by Canon - Part I

Been a long time since I built a paper model of  Canon Japanese website. I've built the Kumamoto Castle and some animals. I like Canon models by the variety of topics, from the simplest to the most complex and the very detailed instructions. The model I chose for this post, for example, is not the most difficult, but requires attention in assembly and I advise you to follow the order set out in the instructions. Osaka Castle is composed of 78 pieces broken down into 16 sheets of paper. Instructions occupy seven shets and are satisfactory. You need extra attention when  fold the pieces, because not all folds are well marked, I believe intentionally, for better finish. In this post you will see the first part of this assembly. If all goes well, when I finish assembling the castle, I will have a model like the picture above.

Já faz muito tempo desde que eu montei um modelo de papel do site japonês Canon. Eu já montei o Castelo Kumamoto e alguns animais. Eu gosto dos modelos da Canon pela variedade de temas, desde os mais simples aos mais complexos e pelas instruções bem detalhadas. O modelo que eu escolhi para este post, por exemplo, não é dos mais difíceis, mas exige atenção na montagem e eu aconselho  seguir a ordem estabelecida nas intruções. O Castelo de Osaka é composto de 78 peças divididas em 16 folhas de papel . As instruções ocupam sete folhas e são satisfatórias. É necessário atenção redobrada na hora de dobrar as peças, porque nem todas as dobras são bem marcadas, talvez para que o modelo tenha um acabamento melhor. Macedonian Church St.Jovan Kaneo Paper Model - by Pepachal

The Real Thing

A really beautiful paper model created by Japanese designer Pepachal, in three sheets of paper, representing the Church St.Jovan Kaneo, in Macedonia. Saint John the Theologian, Kaneo, or simply Saint John at Kaneo is a Macedonian Orthodox church situated on the cliff over Kaneo Beach overlooking Lake Ohrid in the city of Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia. The church is attributed to John the Theologian. The construction date of the church remains unknown but documents detailing the church property suggests that it was built before the year 1447. Archaeologists believe that the church was constructed some time before the rise of the Ottoman Empire very likely in the 13th century. Restoration work in 1964 led to the discovery of frescoes in its dome. In addition, it is also believed that the church of the Holy Mother Of God Perivleptos was built around the same few years as Kaneo. The church was built into the shape of a cruciform with a rectangular base. The architect of the church is unknown but it is believed that he was influenced by the architecture of Armenian churches. Reconstruction work was carried out on the church in the 14th century, shortly before the arrival of Ottoman Turks in Macedonia. A wooden iconostasis was constructed within the church and by the 20th century numerous saints along with the Virgin Mary have been portrayed on the apse. A fresco of Christ Pantocrator can be seen on the dome of the church. A fresco of Saint Clement of Ohrid (whose monastery, Saint Panteleimon, is located close to the church) accompanied by Saint Erasmus of Ohrid can also be seen on a wall of the church.

São João, o Teólogo, Kaneo, ou simplesmente São João em Kaneo é uma igreja ortodoxa macedónia situada sobre a falésia que dá vistas para a praia Kaneo Lago Ohrid , na cidade de Ohrid , na Macedônia . Sua fundação é atribuída a João, o Teólogo . A data de construção da igreja permanece desconhecida, mas os documentos que detalham a propriedade da igreja sugerem que ele foi construída antes do ano 1447. Os arqueólogos acreditam que a igreja foi construída algum tempo antes da ascensão do Império Otomano, no século 13 . O trabalho de restauração em 1964, levou à descoberta de afrescos em sua cúpula.
