Dharma Doll Japanese Lucky Charm Paper Model - by Canon - Amuleto Da Sorte

The first Dharma dolls are said to have been made some 300 years ago at the Sorensen Dharma Temple in Takasaki City in Gunma Prefecture, modeled after the Zen monk, Bodhidharma. The eyebrows and beard represent the crane and the turtle, long considered symbols of longevity in Japan, and the dolls are popular as good luck charms. It is traditional to paint in the left pupil (the right one facing you) when you make a wish, and then paint in the right pupil when the wish comes true. Also, it is said to be most lucky to place the doll so that it faces south. In Japan, red and white are considered lucky and these are the usual colors for a Dharma doll. There are other dolls with different colors, based on oriental astrology, so you can select the color of the doll based on the nature of your wish and your lucky color, increasing the fun and perhaps the efficacy of the charm. The color red is said to have the power to promote vitality and bring good luck. It should be used to bring victory in work, study or love, etc. - Canon

Dizem que os primeiros bonecos Dharma foram feitos há mais de 300 anos no Templo Sorensen Dharma, na Cidade de Takasaki, no Japão, e foram feitos pelo monge Zen Bodhidharma. As sobrancelhas e a barba representam o grou e a tartaruga, considerados símbolos de longevidade no Japão, e estes bonecos são populares como amuletos de boa sorte. Tradicionalmente, costuma-se pintar a pupíla do olho esquerdo no boneco, enquanto pensamos em um desejo a ser realizado. Quando esse desejo é atendido, pinta-se a pupíla direita, como sinal de agradecimento pela graça alcançada. Também é uma tradição deixar a face do boneco virado para o Sul, pois acredita-se que isso trás sorte. no Japão, vermelho e branco são consideradas cores que trazem sorte e são as cores mais comuns usadas nos Dharmas. Há Dharmas de muitas outras cores, baseadas na astrologia oriental, então você pode escolher a cor que mais lhe agrada, baseando-se na natureza de seu pedido ou sua cor da sorte, aumentando assim a diversão e quem sabe a eficácia do amuleto.

Lucky Gnome Paper Model - by Canon - Gnomo Da Sorte

Classic Garden Gnomes

For those who believe in such things, here's a nice paper model of a handsome Lucky Gnome, by Japanese site Canon. A gnome is a "spirit of the earth," and the name "gnome" refers to the male creatures, whereas the females are called "gnomids." They live underground in cities they have created, with lifestyles just like humans. They protect their own treasure and have featured in many picture books, fairy tales, and other literary works since times of old. Garden Gnomes are also popular in the United Kingdom and United States. These are decorative statues for the garden that show gnomes in various poses.

Para aqueles que acreditam nessas coisas, eis aqui um modelo de papel de um simpático Gnomo da Sorte, do site japonês Canon. Um gnomo é um "espírito da terra", e o nome de "gnomo" refere-se às criaturas do sexo masculino, enquanto que as fêmeas são chamados de "gnomids" (essa eu não sabia!). The "Real" Things

The two most iconic non human characters of Star Wars Universe, C-3PO and R2-D2, in an incredible creation by Noturno Sukhoi team. These two beautiful paper models were the first ones posted by Noturno Sukhoi team, in August 3, 2011. These models are in A4 format, but the Indonesian designer MTK, from MTK Card Craft website, adapted them to Letter format, that is the American standard format. The link to both versions are on the end of this post.


Os dois mais icônico personagens não humanos da Saga Star Wars, C-3PO e R2-D2, em uma incrível criação da equipe do site Noturno Sukhoi. Estes dois belos modelos foram os primeiros postados no Noturno Sukhoi, em 3 de Agosto de 2011. Estes modelos estão em formato A4, mas o designer indonésio MTK, do site MTK Card Craft, adaptou-os para o formato carta, ou letter, que o padrão americano.
