My Peruvian friend Marco Antonio Checa Funcke, from the website Mustang Fan Peru, has already been featured here on the blog with some of his beautiful 1/64 scale stands and dioramas.
Recently, he got in touch with me to share his latest creation: a five-story display shelf for 1/64 scale miniatures.
Below is the message Marco sent me:
"After a long time, I'm writing to show you a new papercraft design I just created. It's a five-level display shelf for 1/64 scale cars, decorated like a multi-level parking garage.
I originally designed it on the fly, intending to finish it in time to take it to an event held on Sunday, April 27, in celebration of the 61st anniversary of the Ford Mustang.
The actual anniversary was on April 17, but since that day was Holy Thursday, both the Sunday before and the Sunday after were part of Easter celebrations.
Unfortunately, when I started assembling what should have been the final part of the model, I realized, far too late, that the design was unnecessarily complicated. Because of that, I couldn’t finish it in time for the event. I later made some changes to simplify it and avoid that kind of issue in the future.
For personal reasons, I haven't been able to attend events and meetings as frequently as before. I can only go if they end early or take place somewhere near my home.
Another setback I faced was the loss of many of my original papercraft files. They were stored on a hard drive that failed during the pandemic, right when we were in lockdown and I couldn’t go out, not even to buy a new drive to transfer the data.
I was only able to preserve the PDF files that I had already uploaded to the internet. I still plan to recover the data from that drive, since, fortunately, the failure was in the electronic control circuits and not in the physical storage itself, which gives me hope that the content can still be saved.
Now that I’ve resumed work with this new model, I also intend to finish other pending projects. Many of them already have several reference photos I took earlier, but I never got around to turning them into complete models."

Recentemente, ele entrou em contato comigo para mostrar sua mais nova criação: uma estante de cinco andares para miniaturas na mesma escala.
Abaixo, segue o texto que o Marco me enviou:
"Depois de muito tempo, escrevo para te mostrar um novo design em papercraft que acabei de criar. Trata-se de uma estante de cinco andares para carrinhos em escala 1/64, decorada como um estacionamento multinível.
Originalmente, eu a desenhei de forma improvisada, com a intenção de finalizá-la a tempo de levá-la a um evento que aconteceu no domingo, 27 de abril, em comemoração aos 61 anos do Ford Mustang.
O aniversário foi no dia 17 de abril, mas como caiu numa Quinta-feira Santa, tanto o domingo anterior quanto o seguinte estavam inseridos nas celebrações da Semana Santa.
Infelizmente, quando fui montar o que deveria ser a última parte do modelo, percebi, já muito tarde, que o design estava desnecessariamente complicado. Por isso, não consegui finalizá-lo a tempo do evento. Depois disso, fiz algumas modificações para evitar esse tipo de problema no futuro.
Por motivos pessoais, não tenho conseguido participar de eventos e reuniões com a mesma frequência de antes. Só consigo comparecer quando terminam cedo ou acontecem em locais próximos à minha casa.
Outro contratempo que enfrentei foi a perda de muitos dos meus arquivos originais de papercraft. Eles estavam armazenados em um disco rígido que falhou durante a pandemia, justamente quando estávamos em isolamento e eu não podia sair nem mesmo para comprar um HD novo e transferir os dados.
Consegui preservar apenas os arquivos em PDF que já haviam sido carregados na internet. Ainda pretendo recuperar os dados desse disco, já que, felizmente, a falha ocorreu nos circuitos de controle eletrônico e não no armazenamento físico, o que me dá esperança de que o conteúdo possa ser salvo.
Agora que retomei os trabalhos com este novo modelo, pretendo também finalizar outros projetos que ficaram pendentes. Muitos deles já contam com diversas fotos de referência tiradas anteriormente, mas nunca chegaram a ser transformados em modelos completos."

Thank you for publishing it, Mauther. I had shown this to a friend some days ago, and he asked me if it was possible to make a similar one in 1/43 scale, since he collects cars in that scale... and I immediately started figuring out how I'd make it. So, it's very likely that will be the next design I'll show you. It will require very few changes, like 3 levels instead of 5, and 6 parking spaces per level instead of 9 or 12... editingg the templates accordingly should be pretty easy.

I just wanted to add that the third link (the one you labeled "Link to instructions 02") also contains the additional template I made to substitute for the parts in the original design that caused me such a headache and delayed the finishing of the assembly. I'm also e-mailing you some new links with additional photos and videos (and some new templates for a 1/43 scale version!) corresponding to this design.
