The Lavochkin La-7 was a development of the successful La-5FN. No improved engine was available, but the La-7 had major aerodynamical improvements, such as a new inner wing section and relocated air coolers. It also received improved instrumentation and systems. All this made it the overall best soviet fighter aircraft of World War 2.
