Nefertiti Bust Replica Decorative Paper Model - by Biomaker99

Created by designer and modeler Biomaker99 and originally posted at Pepakura Gallery community, here is a perfect paper model version of the Nefertiti Bust, a painted stucco-coated limestone bust of Nefertiti, the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten. 

The work is believed to have been crafted in 1345 B.C. by the sculptor Thutmose, because it was found in his workshop in Amarna, Egypt. It is one of the most copied works of ancient Egypt. Owing to the work, Nefertiti has become one of the most famous women of the ancient world, and an icon of feminine beauty. 

A German archaeological team led by Ludwig Borchardt discovered the bust in 1912 in Thutmose's workshop. It has been kept at various locations in Germany since its discovery, including the cellar of a bank, a salt mine in Merkers-Kieselbach, the Dahlem museum, the Egyptian Museum in Charlottenburg and the Altes Museum. It is currently on display at the Neues Museum in Berlin, where it was originally displayed before World War II.

Criado pelo designer e modelista Biomaker99 e publicado originalmente na comunidade Peakura Gallery, eis aqui uma vperfeita versão em papel do Busto de Nefertiti, um busto feito de calcário com cerca de 3400 anos de idade, retratando Nefertiti, a Grande Esposa Real do faraó egípcio Aquenáton, uma das obras de arte mais imitadas do Antigo Egito. 

Devido à obra, Nefertiti tornou-se uma das mulheres mais célebres da Antiguidade, bem como um ícone da beleza feminina. Acredita-se que tenha sido feito em 1345 a.C., pelo escultor Tutemés. Uma equipe de arqueólogos alemães, liderada por Ludwig Borchardt, descobriu o busto em 1912, no ateliê de Tutemés em Amarna, no Egito, e ele foi desde então mantido em diversas localidades da Alemanha - incluindo uma mina de sal em Merkers-Kieselbach, o Museu Dahlem (então em Berlim Ocidental), o Museu Egípcio de Charlotemburgo e o Museu Altes. 

Atualmente está em exposição no Neues Museum, em Berlim, onde era exibido antes da Segunda Guerra Mundial.

The iconic bust of Nefertiti is part of the Egyptian Museum of Berlin collection, currently on display in the Neues Museum.

RedUschanka is a designer and modeler friend from Germany who creates very original paper models. He kindly sent me this Paper Demoflower to share with friends on the blog.

The Ephemeral Museum - The Ancient Temple Of Sacrifice - Assembled by Kevin WS

A few days ago I posted here on the blog the beautiful construction made by my friend Kevin WS, from Kenya, East Africa. He assembled the Ancient Temple of Sacrifice and detailed the entire assembly process in a thread on the American papercraft community "Paper Modelers". 

Following the thread I learned a technique I didn't know to reinforce the interior of models with paper napkins and glue. Now Kevin surprises me again with this beautiful set of photos in which he, using image editing techniques, blends the paper model with real jungle landscapes, creating the illusion of a "mysterious lost civilization". 

I had to reduce the size and quality of the photos to post here on the blog, but at the end of this post you'll find the link to Kevin's original thread, where the photos are in full size and in high resolution. 

What can I say? Thank you so much, Kevin, for the meticulous construction reporting and the beautiful photos. Greetings from Brazil to beautiful East Africa.

Há poucos dias atrás eu postei aqui no blog a bela construção feita por meu amigo Kevin WS, do Quênia, África Oriental. Ele montou o Antigo Templo do Sacrifício e detalhou todo o processo de montagem em uma thread na comunidade de papercraft americana "Paper Modelers". 

Acompanhando a thread eu aprendi uma técnica que eu não conhecia para reforçar o interior dos modelos com guardanapos de papel e cola. Agora Kevin me surpreende novamente com esse belo conjunto de fotos em que ele, usando técnicas de edição de imagens, mescla o modelo de papel com paisagens reais de selvas, criando a ilusão de uma "misteriosa civilização perdida". 

Eu tive que reduzir o tamanho e a qualidade das fotos para postar aqui no blog, mas no final desta postagem você encontrará o link para a thread original de Kevin, onde as fotos estão no tamanho original e em alta resolução. 

O que eu posso dizer? Muito obrigado, Kevin, pela meticulosa reportagem da construção e pelas belíssimas fotos. Saudações do Brasil à bela África Oriental.

About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years. I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo. Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos. Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:

Domo-Kun - Japanese Mascot Paper Toy For Kids - by Hiyochico

Domo is the official mascot of Japan's public broadcaster NHK, appearing in several 30-second stop-motion interstitial sketches shown as station identification during shows. 

Domo is a brown, furry and oviparous monster with a large, sawtoothed mouth that is locked wide open. His favorite food is nikujaga, a Japanese meat and potato stew, and strongly detests apples for an unknown genetic reason.

This nice paper model was created by Japanese designer Hiyochico and is perfect for little kids.

Domo-kun é o mascote do canal de televisão japonesa NHK, aparecendo em vinhetas de 30 segundos em animação stop-motion, que são exibidas entre os programas da grade. 

Domo-kun é uma criatura estranha: parecido com um monstro, nascido de um ovo, é pequeno, peludo e marrom, e tem uma boca grande que se abre e mostra dentes afiados. 

Este modelo de papel bem legal foi criado pelo designer japonês Hiyochico e é perfeito para crianças pequenas.
