I believe that it was with Quake that I played online for the first time in my life, even in the distant 1990s (1996, to be more exact). It was a simple deathmatch game with a maximum of four players per session. The internet was dialed and the connection, besides being slow, dropped every time. Those were good times...
These paper models of a Shambler (villainous monster), a Mariner, who was the playable personable, a Snark and a crowbar were created in 2006 by Indian designer and modelist Bhautik Joshi. He used a program called MDL23ds to extract the shapes from the game's models and opened them in Pepakura Designer. Then he worked on them so that they could be assembled in physical form, which are the final templates that when cut, folded and pasted, form these models of the photos.
