Neuschwanstein Castle Paper Model - by Takayoshi Ichiyama

Composed of 75 pieces divided into only nine printed sheets, this is the paper model of Neuschwanstein Castle created by Japanese designer Takayoshi Ichiyama exclusively for the Canon website.

Neuschwanstein Castle is a true fairytale nestled in the mountains of Bavaria, Germany. It was built in the 19th century by King Ludwig II and is one of the most famous and visited castles in the world.

With imposing towers, extravagant interiors, and stunning views of the Alps, it's easy to understand why so many people fall in love with this place.

Additionally, it is said that the castle inspired the design of the famous Cinderella Castle at Disney.

Although it is common to associate castles with dungeons, there are no dungeons in Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle was built in the 19th century, at a time when dungeons were no longer common in German castles.

Neuschwanstein was designed as a luxurious residence for King Ludwig II, with spacious and well-decorated rooms, impressive reception halls, and stunning views.

Although the castle has some secret rooms, passages, and hidden doors, there is no place in the castle that was used as a dungeon. The story of King Ludwig II, who commissioned the construction of the castle, is surrounded by mystery and tragedy.

Ludwig was known to be an eccentric and romantic ruler, who spent a great fortune on his castles and palaces.

He isolated himself more and more from society and had conflicts with his government, which eventually led to his deposition from the throne. Ludwig II was declared insane and interned in a psychiatric hospital, where he died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 40.

The official cause of death was drowning in a nearby lake, but many theories suggest that he was murdered or that his death was covered up by other circumstances.

The premature and tragic death of Ludwig II only increased the fascination surrounding his figure and the castle he built, and can be considered a tragedy that indirectly involves Neuschwanstein Castle.
