The Real Thing - 1913

This beautiful house really exists and was the place where Gunnar Sillén, the Swedish designer of this paper version, past the first twenty years of his life. He says: - "The house was built in 1913 from drawings by the young and very talented architect Elis Benckert for "Charlie" Juhlin Dannfelt, who was a friend of the architect." - This model is in 1/200 scale.

The Real Thing

By Japanese designer Ikuo Anazawa, here is a nice paper model of a Toco Toucan. Toco toucans are birds that live in the tropical rainforests of South America. Approximately 55-65 centimeters tall, they are the largest of all toucans. Their bright yellow beaks make them truly unique-looking. For food, they mostly eat fruits and insects. Because they are friendly birds, they are extremely popular at zoos. This papercraft is about one half the size of a real Toco Toucan. - Canon


Do designer japonês Ikuo Anazawa, eis aqui uma bela versão em papel do Tucano-toco. O Tucano-toco é um pássaro que vive nas florestas tropicais da América do Sul. Medindo aproximadamente 55/65 cms, ele é a maior espécie da família dos tucanos existente. Seu bico amarelo brilhante o faz único entre os seus. Ele se alimenta de frutas e pequenos insetos. Por ser uma ave de temperamento dócil, é muito popular nos zoológicos de todo o mundo. Este modelo de papel tem mais ou menos a metade do tamanho de um Tucano-toco de verdade. - Canon

This realistic paper model of an Octupus came from Japan, offered by Akashi City website. The octopus is a cephalopod mollusc of the order Octopoda. Octopuses have two eyes and four pairs of arms and, like other cephalopods, they are bilaterally symmetric. An octopus has a hard beak, with its mouth at the center point of the arms. Octopuses have no internal or external skeleton (although some species have a vestigial remnant of a shell inside their mantles), allowing them to squeeze through tight places. Octopuses are among the most intelligent and behaviorally flexible of all invertebrates. The octopus inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, including coral reefs, pelagic waters, and the ocean floor. They have numerous strategies for defending themselves against predators, including the expulsion of ink, the use of camouflage and deimatic displays, their ability to jet quickly through the water, and their ability to hide. An octopus trails its eight arms behind it as it swims. All octopuses are venomous, but only one group, the blue-ringed octopus, is known to be deadly to humans. Around 300 species are recognized, which is over one-third of the total number of known cephalopod species. The term 'octopus' may also be used to refer specifically to the genus Octopus. - Wikipedia


Os polvos são moluscos marinhos da classe Cephalopoda, da ordem Octopoda (Oito Pés), possuindo oito braços com fortes ventosas dispostas à volta da boca. Como o resto dos cefalópodes, o polvo tem um corpo mole, sem esqueleto interno (ao contrário das lulas) nem externo, como o argonauta. Como meios de defesa, o polvo possui a capacidade de largar tinta, como camuflagem (através dos cromatóforos), e autotomia de seus braços. Os polvos possuem oito braços, ao contrário das lulas e sépias, que, além dos oito braços, possuem dois tentáculos. O hectocótilo que atua na hora da reprodução é um braço modificado. Dado que os seus membros são usados na locomoção, também se pode referir aos polvos como octópodes. Todos os polvos são predadores e alimentam-se de peixes, crustáceos e outros invertebrados, que caçam com os braços e matam com o bico quitinoso.
