These cool Dragon Ball Z paper model characters in Chibi style were created by French designer Paper Juke. According to Wikipedia, Chibi is a Japanese slang word meaning "short person" or "small child". The word has gained currency among fans of manga and anime. Its meaning is of someone or some animal that is small. It can be translated as "little", but is not used the same way as chiisana(tiny, small, little in Japanese) but rather cute. A prototypical example of the former usage in the original Japanese which brought the term to the attention of Western fans is Chibiusa, a pet name for the diminutive daughter of Sailor Moon formed from Chibi Usagi ("Little Rabbit"). In English-speaking anime and manga fandom (otaku), the term chibi has mostly been conflated with the "super deformed" style of drawing characters with oversized heads or it can be used to describe child versions of characters. Chibi style is usually used in depicting scenes which are cute and/or humorous, and it is extremely rare for it to be used for an entire anime series. It is quite popular in manga, however.

This beautiful Lucky Item, a Chinese Phoenix, was created by Japanese designer Ikuo Anazawa, comissioned by Canon website. Known in Chinese as Fenghuang, the Chinese Phoenix is a mythological bird, that is said to reign over all other winged creatures. The males are known as Feng and the females as Huang. They are said to be similar in appearance to a peacock, but are about 130~170cm tall and colored in five vibrant shades. They sing a melody that spans five different notes. The Fenghuang is said to drink from sacred springs and feed on bamboo seeds, and nest only in wu t'ung trees. In the Classic of Rites, the Fenghuang is named as one of the four holy animals of Chinese mythology, along with the unicorn Qilin, the tortoise Gui Xian, and the dragon Long. With this papercraft you can create a bright, five-colored Fenghuang in flight position. The model measures approx. 65cm in length and 60cm across.

Many friends of the blog write saying they find some difficult to download my models on Rapidshare, so it's been awhile that I've been reviewing some models, passing them to PDF format (they were all in JPG or BMP format, which caused errors of scale when printing), with that, all the sheets of a model are printed on the same scale without the need for complicated settings. Today I am posting here the Pirate Cove Diorama, in PDF format and easily downloadable directly from Google Docs. Enjoy!
