The Renault FT, frequently referred to in post-World War I literature as the "FT-17" or "FT17" (see Nomenclature), was a French light tank that was among the most revolutionary and influential tank designs in history. 

The FT was the first armored tracked vehicle or "tank" to have its armament within a fully rotating turret, The Renault FT's basic configuration - turret in the front, engine compartment in the back and protruding tracks (at least in front) - inaugurated the standard pattern repeated in most tanks to this day. 
Armour historian Steven Zaloga has called the Renault FT "the world's first modern tank". - Wikipedia

The Real Thing - 1917

O Renault FT-17 foi um dos primeiros carros de combate fabricados no mundo. Projetado e fabricado ao final da Primeira Guerra Mundial (1914 - 1918), pesava apenas 6,5 toneladas e comportava dois tripulantes. A sua torre, com giro de 360 graus, tornou-se padrão em quase todos os tanques que vieram depois. Foi o primeiro tanque do Exército Brasileiro, em uso na Companhia de Carros de Assalto, sob o comando de José Pessoa Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, em 1921. Exemplares encontram-se em exposição permanente no Museu Militar Conde de Linhares, no Rio de Janeiro, na Academia Miliatar das Agulhas Negras - AMAN em Resende- RJ. Outro exemplar encontra-se em processo de restauro no quartel do 13º Regimento de Cavalaria Mecanizado na cidade de Pirassununga. - Wikipedia
