WW2`s Supermarine Spitfire PR Mk XIX Aircraft - by My Execpc

PhotobucketThe Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter aircraft that was used by the Royal Air Force and many other Allied countries throughout the Second World War. The Spitfire continued to be used as a front line fighter and in secondary roles into the 1950s. It was produced in greater numbers than any other British aircraft and was the only British fighter in production throughout the war. The Spitfire was designed as a short-range, high-performance interceptor aircraft by R. J. Mitchell, chief designer at Supermarine Aviation Works (since 1928 a subsidiary of Vickers-Armstrong). Mitchell continued to refine the design until his death from cancer in 1937, whereupon his colleague Joseph Smith became chief designer. The Spitfire's elliptical wing had a thin cross-section, allowing a higher top speed than several contemporary fighters, including the Hawker Hurricane. Speed was seen as essential to carry out the mission of home defence against enemy bombers. During the Battle of Britain, the Spitfire was perceived by the public as the RAF fighter of the battle, whereas in fact, the more numerous Hurricane actually shouldered a greater proportion of the burden against the Luftwaffe. The Spitfire units did, however, have a lower attrition rate and a higher victory to loss ratio than those flying Hurricanes. After the Battle of Britain, the Spitfire became the backbone of RAF Fighter Command, and saw action in the European, Mediterranean, Pacific and the South-East Asian theatres. Much loved by its pilots, the Spitfire served in several roles, including interceptor, photo-reconnaissance, fighter-bomber, carrier-based fighter, and trainer. It was built in many variants, using several wing configurations. Although the original airframe was designed to be powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine producing 1,030 hp (768 kW), it was adaptable enough to use increasingly more powerful Merlin and the later Rolls-Royce Griffon engines; the latter was eventually able to produce 2,035 hp (1,520 kW). - Wikipedia

- Wikipedia

Suzuki Alto Lapin Paper Car - by Shinkeisei Liners

Photobucket

The Suzuki Alto Lapin is a retro-styled Kei car with a 5-door hatchback body, manufactured since 2002 by Suzuki for the Japanese market only, and also marketed in Japan only by Mazda as Mazda Spiano under an OEM agreement under their Autozam marque. It is based on Suzuki's popular Alto kei car.
The Lapin has a very distinctive, boxy shape, that apparently proved popular with female buyers. The name "Lapin" stems from the French word for "rabbit", and the car sports rabbit-head badges. The Mazda version has differences concerning some styling details, including a different front end. The car is powered by the Suzuki's K6A kei car engine, in either naturally aspirated (40 kW / 54 hp) or turbocharged (44 kW / 60 hp) versions, available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The default transmission is a 4-speed automatic, with a 5-speed manual available in turbo versions. - Wikipedia

Vintage Japanese Tatebanko - by John Wagenseil - via Paper Modelers - Tatebanko Japonês

John Wagenseil, from Paper Modelers Forum, found this very rare, nice and ancient model of a vintage Tatebanko, that shows what appears to be the struggle of people of one village against evil spirits.

To further improve, Pat Craft, a great French designer, posted a picture of the finished model, which he built himself.

I would like to thank John Wagenseil and Pat Craft for making this post possible. - Mauther

The Real Thing

Abbey Saint-Andrew de Meymac is old abbey a bénédictine located on the commune of Meymac in the department of Corrèze.
The building of this typical church from Limousin's, in Romanesque type was done in several periods along the 12th century. The porch and three absids are the oldest parts. The steeple has an inner Romanesque vault but the upper part was build in the 17th century without respect for the original style. The absid's position is unbalanced towards nave's axle. Actual monastic buildings are from 17th and 19th centuries and are housing the archeological museum "Marius Vazeilles" and a Contemporary Art Center. They are surrounding the old cloister's squared place. - Pierre
