GTA V - Ammu-Nation Gun Shop Papercraft Remastered
Work In Progress - by Papermau

GTA V Ammu-Nation Gun Shop papercraft by Papermau - new high-resolution textured version work in progress

With the release of Grand Theft Auto VI getting closer, currently scheduled by Rockstar Games for November 19, 2026, I thought this would be a good time to revisit an old project here at Papermau: my Ammu-Nation Gun Shop paper model, inspired by one of the gun stores from GTA V.

Anyone familiar with GTA V knows that there are several Ammu-Nation stores scattered around the map, housed in buildings with different shapes and facades. The one that inspired this model has always been one of my favorites and, in my opinion, one of the most recognizable, mainly because of its huge and unmistakable storefront.

Another Ammu-Nation that I really like is the one located near the game's military air base. It has a completely different appearance, since its structure is basically a Quonset or Nissen hut, those semicylindrical corrugated metal buildings widely used for military and industrial purposes. This one is also on my list and I intend to turn it into a paper model sometime in the future.

I am a big fan of GTA V, especially GTA Online. Although I have not played for almost a year, I have been following the game practically since its release, reached level 900 in GTA Online and, after so much time playing, I know the map of Los Santos and Blaine County very well.

One of the things I have always enjoyed doing on the PlayStation 4 version is exploring the game's own glitches and loopholes, finding ways to enter normally blocked locations, spawn in specific places, experiment with cloning and unintended vehicle modifications and, of course, search for Easter eggs and other hidden things around the map.

Anyone who plays GTA V on PS4 knows that this kind of thing is quite different from what happens on PC. On a computer there are third-party programs that allow many modifications to be made simply by selecting options from a menu. On PS4, some of these procedures are almost like a ritual. There are several steps that need to be performed in the right sequence, and sometimes they feel like tasks from some secret club. If you make a mistake in one of them, you often have to go back to the beginning and do everything again.

A good example is what players usually call mixing vehicles, where it is possible to combine characteristics from two completely different cars and end up creating something that was never intended by the programmers. I have always found this hidden side of GTA V fascinating, because it almost becomes a game within the game itself.

My history with the series started long before GTA V. I played GTA III and GTA: Vice City on the PlayStation 2, then moved on to GTA IV and GTA V on the PlayStation 3. Later I migrated GTA V to the PlayStation 4, where I mainly played the Online version.

Now I am waiting for GTA VI. The problem is that, for now, I do not have a PlayStation 5, and a PC version has not yet been officially announced by Rockstar. So I will probably wait. When the PC version finally appears, now that I am using a Windows 11 computer, I will find out whether it can run GTA VI or whether GTA VI will simply fry my PC.

But back to the papercraft.

In the images illustrating this post you can see the work I am doing on this new version of the Ammu-Nation. The idea is not to create a completely different model, but to revisit and improve the original project, preserving its shape, proportions and overall appearance while mainly rebuilding the textures, adding more definition, small details, brighter colors and a much better overall finish.

Further below I will also leave the link to the original version of this papercraft, published here at Papermau in 2015. At that time, the textures were obtained directly from GTA V on the PlayStation 4, using the character's in-game cellphone and Snapmatic, an application that works as a kind of photo-sharing social network inside the GTA universe.

It was the solution I found at the time to capture the facades and several small details of the building directly from the game, but there was one very obvious limitation. As you will be able to see by visiting the old post, the images and textures obtained this way had a very low resolution.

In 2015 this worked reasonably well for the model I wanted to create, but looking at it now, more than eleven years later, I can see plenty of room for improvement. The tools available have also changed a lot since then, and today I can work with these images and textures at a level of quality that I simply did not have available when I created the original model.

I am working directly on this new version, rebuilding and improving the textures while trying to preserve the personality of the 2015 papercraft. I am quite eager to print and assemble this new model myself and finally see how all these changes will work on paper.

The work is still in progress, but it is already taking shape and I am really liking the result so far.

More progress on this new Ammu-Nation will be presented here at Papermau soon.

GTA V Ammu-Nation Gun Shop Papercraft Revisited
Test Build Almost Finished

GTA V Ammu-Nation Gun Shop papercraft test build with 1/64 scale die-cast car by Papermau

The test build of the new version of the Ammu-Nation Gun Shop is almost complete and, this time, I gathered several photos showing a little more of the whole process, from the separate walls to the finished building standing on its base.

In some of the photos I placed a few 1/64 scale die-cast cars next to the model, including in the first image of this post. This is the classic scale used by many miniatures from Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Majorette, GreenLight, Johnny Lightning, Tomica and many others, and since the first version of this Ammu-Nation, back in 2015, one of my ideas was to create a small setting that could be used with this kind of miniature.

This test build had a very important purpose: to find out if everything I had redesigned on the computer would actually work when transferred to paper. After printing, cutting, folding, gluing and assembling each part, I can say that it does. All the pieces fit together perfectly, the proportions turned out as I expected and I found no structural problems that would require any major changes to the project.

It is particularly fun to see this model finished again because my relationship with GTA V goes back a long way. I have been playing the game practically since its release and have spent many, many hours exploring Los Santos and Blaine County, especially in GTA Online. After so much time, some places on the map become strangely familiar, almost like places in a city we actually know.

GTA V Ammu-Nation Gun Shop papercraft partially assembled with front facade and brick side wall by Papermau

Curiously, it has been about a year since I last played GTA Online, but I think that break is coming to an end. October is almost here and anyone who has played GTA Online at this time of year knows that Halloween is one of the best times to return to Los Santos.

For a few weeks, the whole atmosphere of the game changes. UFOs begin appearing in the skies, driverless cars chase players along the roads, killers appear during the night and we can even run into a clone of our own character trying to kill us. There are also ghosts to find, pumpkins scattered around the map, special game modes, strange storms and several other surprises. Los Santos, which is not exactly a peaceful city to begin with, becomes even crazier.

I have always enjoyed the way Rockstar uses Halloween to play with the supernatural side of GTA Online. So, after almost a year away from the game, maybe this is a good excuse to bring my character out of retirement and take another drive around Los Santos. Who knows, perhaps this return will also provide some inspiration for a future papercraft?

Perhaps it is precisely because I am so familiar with the game world that I have always enjoyed turning some of its buildings into paper models. Rather than the big events of GTA V, it is often these ordinary places that catch my attention: a workshop, a garage, a warehouse, a neighborhood store or an Ammu-Nation discovered while driving around the map.

The first version of this Ammu-Nation was created in exactly this way, using images and textures that I captured directly inside GTA V. Eleven years later, it has been very interesting to return to the same building with different resources and rebuild practically all of the graphics, trying to improve the textures and add details without losing the simplicity of the original model.

Now that I know the construction works as it should and, most importantly, that all the pieces fit together perfectly, I can dedicate myself to the next stage: preparing the final templates. I will organize the parts, make the last graphic adjustments and try to make everything as clear and simple as possible for assembly.

I still have a few ideas for small things that I might add to the model before the final version, but for now nothing has been decided. As often happens with my projects, some ideas appear just when I think everything is already finished.

As soon as everything is ready, I will publish the model here on the blog for everyone who wants to build their own Ammu-Nation Gun Shop.

GTA V - Metal Storage Shed Paper Model - by Papermau
Download Now!

As I said yesterday, here is the paper model of the Metal Storage Shed inspired by GTA V videogame. This metal storage shed can be seen in multiple locations in GTA V, both in story mode and online.

As far as I can remember now, you can find it in the Port of Los Santos area, on the roof of the Rockford Plaza Mall and in some places in the Gran Senora desert.

The model consists of four printed sheets and is very easy to assemble. Download easily and safely, directly from Google Drive. Have fun.

Boa montagem.

GTA V - Secret Garage In Grand Senora Desert Stand Paper Model
by Papermau - Download Now!

In November last year I posted here on the blog some advances in a model of the "Secret Garage" from GTA V.

Well, since then I haven't touched this model anymore, but I made this other one based on the same garage.

But instead of a 3D model, I made something much simpler, an stand for exposiotion and take photos.

In the videogame GTA V, both in the story mode and in the online mode, this garage (or service station) is located in the Gran Senora Desert and is called the "Secret Garage" because, although you can enter with your car, you cannot can save or make any modifications to the vehicle.

I think the only real function of this garage is that you, when using the "off the radar" function, can hide from air attacks or toxic players.

With a classic look from the old American highways, this garage is perfect for a diorama or to be used as a stand for miniatures of Hot Wheels, Matchbox and the like.

If you like this model, download it easily and securely directly from Google Drive.

Oh, and if you like Papermau blog, don't forget to follow it on Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter to keep up with the latest news.

GTA V - Los Santos Custom Diorama Papercraft - Beta Version
by Papermau - Download Now!

While we all wait for the highly anticipated GTA 6 - and with it, yet another revolution in the world of video games - how about taking a moment to relax and build a GTA 5-inspired garage to display your miniature cars?

This is the Los Santos Customs, a papercraft model freely inspired by the various garages scattered throughout Los Santos in GTA 5.

You won’t find this exact building in the game, whether in story mode or online, but every detail in this model is based on real design elements found in different garages across the GTA universe. It’s a unique creation that pays tribute to the game’s urban atmosphere with creative freedom.

Before you get started, a quick note: this is a beta version. That means all the parts are included, but they haven’t been laid out in the most practical or organized way for assembly. It’s not a polished, final model - but it’s fully buildable and fun, especially given its relatively low piece count.

To make things easier, the PDF includes images of the finished model, which you can use as a visual guide during the build.

If you print the model on Letter or A4 paper, the final scale should be close to 1/64, which is the classic scale used for Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, Greenlight Collectibles, Tomica, Majorette, and similar miniature vehicles.

Since I haven’t assembled the model myself yet, I recommend printing just page 5 first (it includes the front facade) in black and white and in economy mode.

That way, you can compare the scale with one of your miniatures and adjust the size as needed using your printer’s scaling settings. I

f it looks too big or too small, just increase or decrease the scale. It’s the easiest method - but if you know a better one, feel free to share it in the comments.

The full model is made up of nine pages: five for the building and four for the base, And as always, the download is free and safe, hosted directly on Google Drive.

If you build this papercraft - or any other featured here on the blog - and want to share your work, send a few photos to mautherous@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to publish them in the The Ephemeral Museum section.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a seasoned modeler, if your build is simple, perfect, or a bit wonky - what really matters is having fun and sharing the joy of this hobby with people from all over the world.

Legal Notice:This paper model is a fan-made creation, developed for artistic and educational purposes. It is being distributed for free and is not intended for commercial use.

Vou adorar publicá-las na seção The Ephemeral Museum.
