The Plague Doctor - A Tale From Poveglia - by Emanuele Mengotti

photo plague.banner.001.paper.toy.by.papermau.00478_zpssh2izvga.jpgI recently had the honor of taking part in the project to promote The Plague Doctor movie, by Italian director and actor Emanuele Mengotti, and although my participation was very small and ephemeral (I only created a paper toy of the Plague Doctor and a diorama of the Island of Poveglia), I would like to thank Mr. Mengotti, Miss Sybilla Odenheimer and all the Plague Doctor team for their confidence in letting me create the models. The Plage Doctor paper toy and the Poveglia diorama are now part of the crowding of the movie and I would like to ask everyone who can help, somehow contributing to the crowdfunding, or in publicizing this project on your social networks and the like. I thank all of you in advance. - The Plague Doctor is a psychological thriller set in Venice, with dark atmospheres inspired by stories and legends tied in with the historical figure of the Plague Doctor, a mysterious Venetian Mask, and with Poveglia, an ancient island of the Venetian Lagoon, well known for its gruesome events.

Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum Paper Model - by Izumo Zaidan

In Japan, Honjin were originally Edo Period travel accommodations for upper level government officials and daimyo (feudal lords). Often, they were the homes of well-to-do village headmen or rich merchants, and in return for being designated as a honjin they were allowed to build walls, gates, and other markers of a status above their rank. This was the honjin for the Matsue Domain and originally belonged to the family of Motoki Sasaki, who made his fortune in trading cotton and brewing sake. It was constructed in 1735. Today it is a museum open to the public that is famous for its beautiful gardens. - I want to say thanks to John Wagenseil, from Paper Modelers forum, for this nice find!

Rock`n`Roll Circus - The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Tatebanko - by Papermau - Next Project

I am creating this tatebanko (a kind of 2D diorama) inspired bySgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the eighth studio album by English rock band The Beatles. Released on 1 June 1967, it was an immediate commercial and critical success, spending 27 weeks at the top of the albums chart in the United Kingdom and 15 weeks at number one in the United States. Time magazine declared it "a historic departure in the progress of music" and the New Statesman praised its elevation of pop to the level of fine art. It won four Grammy Awards in 1968, including Album of the Year, the first rock LP to receive this honour. More soon.

Tutela Domus Ad Herculaneum Paper Model - by Papermau
Download Now!

This paper model of a small house or temple, the Tutela Domus Ad Herculaneum (Protective House of Herculaneum), was based on miniatures found in several houses in Herculaneum, the ancient Roman city in the Italian region of Campania, which was tragically known to have been preserved, along with the city of Pompeii, after Of having been buried by the ashes of the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Archaeologists who excavate the remains of Herculaneum to this day, have noticed that in several houses of the city there were these miniatures made of clay, usually a house or temple, with a central atrium, where were deposited figures, also made of clay, of men, women, children and sometimes even pets. They came to the conclusion that these houses were used as a kind of amulet to protect homes and their residents. It can be said that the amulets worked in a certain way, because the houses were magnificently preserved by the ashes of Vesuvius and the people too, since they became statues, eternalized in plaster molds.

Attention: taking away the fact that the cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii were actually swallowed up and preserved almost intact by the ashes of Vesuvius, the rest of what you read above was totally invented by me and has no scientific or archaeological support. Only one April Fools off season. Have a good time. :)

Bom divertimento. :)
