The Scratch Build Boat Project - by Papermau - A Work In Progress

I am
working in something different. I am trying a scratch build of a little boat. A fishing boat. I am using only cardboard from boxes and some good quality cardboard sheets that I had here at home. I started with no design in particular, just some references picked up on Google.

Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day - And A Lot Of Pirate Themed Paper Models To Celebrate This Date!

International Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19) is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, U.S., who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello," but with "Ahoy, matey!" The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy. - Wikipedia

- Wikipedia

Queen Of The Isles Ship Paper Model In 1/250 Scale - by Paper Shipwright

By Paper Shipwright, British website, this is the The Queen of the Isles, in 1/250 scale. The MV Queen of the Isles was a small passenger/cargo ferry launched in 1964 to provide extra capacity on the route from Cornwall to the Scilly Isles. Traffic declined and she was sold, serving as an excursion steamer in the Irish Sea, as a ferry around Tongo in the Pacific and as a small cruise ship – before being abandoned as a derelict hulk in New Zealand. - This is a free model, but to download it, you need to register (it`s free and quick) at Paper Shipwright website.

Do site britânico Paper Shipwright, este é o The Queen of the Isles, na escala 1/250.

Japanese Boat and House Paper Models From Heian Period
by Yamanashi Museum

These two paper models of an ancient house and a boat are replicas of the real things in the Heian period, in Japan. The Heian period is the last division of classical Japanese history, running from 794 to 1185. The period is named after the capital city of Heian-kyō, or modern Kyōto. It is the period in Japanese history when Buddhism, Taoism and other Chinese influences were at their height. The Heian period is also considered the peak of the Japanese imperial court and noted for its art, especially poetry and literature. Although the Imperial House of Japan had power on the surface, the real power was in the hands of the Fujiwara clan, a powerful aristocratic family who had intermarried with the imperial family. Many emperors actually had mothers from the Fujiwara family. Heian means "peace" in Japanese. - read more at Heian.Period.at.Wikipedia

This Is Not Paper, But... - Ship In A Bottle - All You Need To Know To Build Yours - by Awesomecreations

I believe I've posted two tutorials here on the blog about ships in bottles, but this is the more detailed and the most closely than the ancient sailors did during their long and uncertain trips in the Golden Age of Sail, as a way to pass time and not thinking too much on risks that they ran.

This very well done tutorial, full of photos was created by a South African guy called Awesomecreations and was originally posted at Instructables website. Even if you never think of building a ship in a bottle, it's worth taking a look at the ingenious techniques used.
