Jolly Roger - The Pirate Flag
Piracy is a war-like act committed by non-state actors (private parties not affiliated with any government) against other parties at sea. The term applies especially to acts of robbery and/or criminal violence at sea. People who engage in these acts are called pirates. The term can include acts committed on land, in the air, or in other major bodies of water or on a shore. It does not normally include crimes committed against persons traveling on the same vessel as the perpetrator (e.g. one passenger stealing from others on the same vessel). The term has been used to refer to raids across land borders by non-state agents.
Piracy is the name of an offence under customary international law and also the name of a number of offences under the municipal law of a number of States.
Piracy should be distinguished from privateering, which was authorized by their national authorities and therefore a legitimate form of war-like activity by non-state actors. This form of commerce raiding was outlawed by the Peace of Westphalia (1648) for signatories to those treaties. Historically, offenders have usually been apprehended by military personnel and tried by military tribunals. - Wikipedia

A Pirate Ship Miniature

- Wikipedia

Artistic Interpretation Of An
Apatment Building In Ostia...
The beautifully preserved ruins of Ostia lie twenty miles from Rome, in the meadows between the Tiber River and the Tyrrhenian Sea. It was founded, probably in the 4th century BC, as a military colony to guard the river mouth against seaborne invasions. Later, during the centuries when virtually all imports reached the Capital via the Tiber, Ostia gained prominence as the domestic landing for cargo boats. By the 2nd century AD, it had become a flourishing commercial center inhabited by upwards of 100,000 people, whose apartment buildings, taverns, and grocery shops are still intact. - initaly.com

...And How It Looks Like Today.

The Japanese people have long thought of the sakura (cherry blossom) as the flower which symbolizes the nation. It is mentioned in ancient myths, and the way its petals fall while still at the height of their beauty was interpreted by the old warrior class as symbolic of resignation and grace in death, qualities which the warriors rated highly. There are numerous cherry blossom viewing spots throughout the country and one of the pleasures of life among the Japanese is the chance to hold a sake drinking party beneath a grove of cherry trees in full bloom. -  Yamaha Paper Models

- Yamaha Paper Models

Jeep Paper Model - by SH Ilustration Studio

Photobucket
The Old Real Thing
Jeep is an automobile marque of Chrysler. The first Willys Jeeps were produced in 1941 with the first civilian models in 1945, making it the oldest off-road vehicle and sport utility vehicle (SUV) brand. It inspired a number of other light utility vehicles, such as the Land Rover which is the second oldest 4-wheel-drive brand. The original Jeep vehicle that first appeared as the prototype Bantam BRC became the primary light 4-wheel-drive vehicle of the United States Army and Allies during World War II, as well as the postwar period. Many Jeep variants serving similar military and civilian roles have since been created in other nations. - Wikipedia

Photobucket
The New Real Thing
- Wikipedia

The Real Thing
Niigata City has a history of prosperity as the largest port on the Sea of Japan side of the country for shipping to and from the Pacific side. Later, under the Ansei Treaty of 1859 between Japan, the U.S., Russia, Holland, Britain, and France, Niigata became one of just five Japanese ports open to foreign trade (along with Yokohama, Hakodate, Kobe, and Nagasaki). Against the backdrop of this history, in the early years of the Meiji Era, Niigata's population was the largest of any prefecture in Japan. - www.mofa.go.jp
