Kadomatsu - A Good Luck Amulet Paper Model - by Yukari Nakayama

This Kadomatsu decorative miniature model in only one sheet of paper was created by Japanese designer Yukari Nakayama, commissioned by Canon website. 

Kadomatsu is a decoration consisting of a pair of pine trees and bamboo stems. It is placed on both sides of the front entrance of a house from January 1-7. It symbolizes that the tree provides longevity, prosperity and purity for the descent of the Gods. 

This traditon was originally started in China around 8th Century and was later brought to Japan. 

This is more one model you will only find if you visit Canon website in Japanese language. 

If you usually enter the site in English (or Portuguese in my case), or any language other than Japanese you will not find this model and many others that only appear in the Japanese version. 

So I urge you all to periodically visit the site by choosing the Japanese language and scouring the various topics. 

There are many paper models that, for cultural reasons, I believe, Canon only published in their mother tongue.

Este modelo decorativo em miniatura de um Kadomatsu em apenas uma folha de papel foi criado pelo designer japonês Yukari Nakayama, comissionado pelo site da Canon.

O Kadomatsu é feito com folhas de pinheiro e troncos de bambu. Ele é colocado dos dois lados de entrada de uma casa nos sete primeiros dias do ano para atrair boa sorte e afastar o mal. Ele simboliza o que a árvore transmite: longevidade, prosperidade e pureza para os descendentes dos deuses. 

Este costume teve início na China por volta do século 8 e depois foi trazido para o Japão. 

Este é mais um modelo que você só encontrará se visitar o site da Canon em japonês. 

Se você costuma entrar no site em inglês (ou em português no meu caso), ou qualquer outra língua que não a japonesa não encontrará este modelo e muitos outros que só aparecem na versão japonesa. 

Então eu aconselho para que todos vocês façam visitas periódicas ao site escolhendo o idioma japonês e vasculhem os vários tópicos. 

Há muitos modelos de papel que, por motivos culturais, creio eu, a Canon só publica em sua língua pátria.

A lion dance is an important traditional type of dance performed at Chinese New Year, festivals, wedding ceremonies, and other celebratory occasions.

The lion is said to repel evil and bring good fortune, and is a popular icon in China and towns around the world. In China, people of the same nationality speak in different dialects depending on the region they live in, and in the same way, the lion dance also varies in different areas. 

Broadly speaking, it can be divided into two styles: northern and southern. The northern style is performed mainly in areas in north China and features movements based on martial arts. The southern style, performed mainly in the south, is known for its acrobatic dancing style. 

This paper craft model is based on the southern style of lion dance, and has a main color tone of red, which is said to be a lucky color.

A Dança do Leão é uma espécie de dança tradicional muito importante no Ano Novo Chinês e é realizada em cerimônias, festivais, noivados, casamentos e outras ocasiões especiais. os chineses acreditam que o leão afasta o mal e atrai fortuna, e é um ícone em várias comunidades chinesas ao redor do mundo. 

Na enorme China, pessoas de uma mesma nacionalidade falam em dialetos diferentes, dependendo da região onde vivem; do mesmo modo o Leão Dançarino tem diferentes estilos de dança. 

De modo resumido, podemos identificar dois estilos principais: o nortista e o sulista. O estilo nortista apresenta movimentos baseado principalmente nas artes marcias chinesas. 

O estilo sulista usa mais acrobacias em sua dança. Este modelo de papel foi feito baseado no Leão Dançarino sulista, e sua cor principal é o vermelho, que os chineses acreditam atrair boa sorte.

Dharma Doll Japanese Lucky Charm Miniature Paper Model by Kawasaki Frontale Football Club

This is a Dharma Doll, a Japanese lucky item and this paper model version is offered by Kawasaki Frontale Football Club website. The first Dharma dolls are said to have been made some 300 years ago at the Sorensen Dharma Temple in Takasaki City in Gunma Prefecture, modeled after the Zen monk, Bodhidharma. The eyebrows and beard represent the crane and the turtle, long considered symbols of longevity in Japan, and the dolls are popular as good luck charms. It is traditional to paint in the left pupil (the right one facing you) when you make a wish, and then paint in the right pupil when the wish comes true. Also, it is said to be most lucky to place the doll so that it faces south. In Japan, red and white are considered lucky and these are the usual colors for a Dharma doll. There are other dolls with different colors, based on oriental astrology, so you can select the color of the doll based on the nature of your wish and your lucky color, increasing the fun and perhaps the efficacy of the charm. The color red is said to have the power to promote vitality and bring good luck. It should be used to bring victory in work, study or love, etc.

Este é um Boneco Dharma, um amuleto da sorte japonês e esta versão em papel é oferecida por Kawasaki Frontale Football Club. Dizem que os primeiros bonecos Dharma foram feitos há mais de 300 anos no Templo Sorensen Dharma, na Cidade de Takasaki, no Japão, e foram feitos pelo monge Zen Bodhidharma. As sobrancelhas e a barba representam o grou e a tartaruga, considerados símbolos de longevidade no Japão, e estes bonecos são populares como amuletos de boa sorte. Tradicionalmente, costuma-se pintar a pupíla do olho esquerdo no boneco, enquanto pensamos em um desejo a ser realizado. Quando esse desejo é atendido, pinta-se a pupíla direita, como sinal de agradecimento pela graça alcançada. Também é uma tradição deixar a face do boneco virado para o Sul, pois acredita-se que isso trás sorte. no Japão, vermelho e branco são consideradas cores que trazem sorte e são as cores mais comuns usadas nos Dharmas. Há Dharmas de muitas outras cores, baseadas na astrologia oriental, então você pode escolher a cor que mais lhe agrada, baseando-se na natureza de seu pedido ou sua cor da sorte, aumentando assim a diversão e quem sabe a eficácia do amuleto.
