About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. The Ephemeral Museum is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years. I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo. Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. O Ephemeral Museum é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos. Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:

I created this paper model of an antique oven based on the photo below, from a furnace found in Pompeii. The brick arches on the Pompeii ovens served to guide smoke upwards as well as shelter the products going in and out of the ovens.

Eu criei este modelo de papel de um forno antigo baseado no foto abaixo, de um forno achado em Pompéia. Os arcos de tijolos nos fornos de Pompéia serviam para guiar a fumaça para cima, bem como para abrigar os produtos que entravam e saíam dos fornos.

I've done the beta assembly and now I'm editing in the final templates, hitting some basic errors, such as tabs and small differences in size between the pieces. I think this will be a useful model for School Works, Dioramas, RPGs and Wargames. The model will be available for download by the end of this week.

The Colosseum, or the Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin: Amphitheatrum Flavium, Italian Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo), is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering. Occupying a site just east of the Roman Forum, its construction started in 72 AD under the emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD under Titus, with further modifications being made during Domitian's reign (81–96). The name "Amphitheatrum Flavium" derives from both Vespasian's and Titus's family name (Flavius, from the gens Flavia). Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry, and a Christian shrine. Although in the 21st century it stays partially ruined because of damage caused by devastating earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome. It is one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions and still has close connections with the Roman Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a torchlit "Way of the Cross" procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum. - Wikipedia

O Coliseu, também conhecido como Anfiteatro Flaviano, deve seu nome à expressão latina Colosseum (ou Coliseus, no latim tardio), devido à estátua colossal de Nero, que ficava perto a edificação. Localizado no centro de Roma, é uma exceção de entre os anfiteatros pelo seu volume e relevo arquitectónico. Originalmente capaz de abrigar perto de 50 000 pessoas, e com 48 metros de altura, era usado para variados espetáculos. Foi construído a leste do Fórum Romano e demorou entre oito a dez anos a ser construído. O Coliseu foi utilizado durante aproximadamente 500 anos, tendo sido o último registro efetuado no século VI da nossa era, bastante depois da queda de Roma em 476. O edifício deixou de ser usado para entretenimento no começo da Idade Média, mas foi mais tarde usado como habitação, oficina, forte, pedreira, sede de ordens religiosas e templo cristão. Embora esteja agora em ruínas devido a terremotos e pilhagens, o Coliseu sempre foi visto como símbolo do Império Romano, sendo um dos melhores exemplos da sua arquitectura. Here is the Roman Castrum in Romania, ready to download. This model was made using Sketchup to draw the basic lines, then this first model was unfolded in Pepakura. The resulting templates were opened in MsPaint for applying textures and tabs and fix small errors.

A castrum was a fortified military building by the ancient Romans, sometimes reconstructed. This model is freely based in a gate entrance located at Porolissum, an ancient Roman city in Dacia, Romania.

Castrum era uma espécie de fortificação militar construída pelos antigos Romanos. Muitas vezes ela era recontruída, de acordo com as necessidades militares imediatas. Este modelo é baseado livremente no portão de entrada de uma dessas fortalezas, localizado em Porolissum, uma antiga ocupação romana em Dacia, na Romênia.

Porolissum was an ancient Roman city in Dacia. Established as a military camp in year 106 a.c, during Trajan's Dacian Wars, the city quickly grew through trade with the native Dacians and became the capital of the province Dacia Porolissensis in 124. The site is one of the largest and best-preserved archaeological sites in modern-day Romania.

About Toys In The Attic by Papermau:

Toys in the Attic is the third album by American rock band Aerosmith, released in April 1975. Is also a name of a 1963`s drama movie with Dean Martin and Geraldine Page. Now, because this is a really nice name, this will be the name of a new session of Papermau`s blog. In this session I will share old original and exclusive paper models posted more than a year here in the blog. It's a way of not letting these models get lost among over 7.000 posts in the four years of the blog.


Toys in the Attic (Brinquedos no Sotão) é o nome do terceiro album da banda norte-americana de rock Aerosmith, lançado em 1975. É também o nome de um drama para o cinema de 1963 chamado aqui no Brasil de Na Voragem das Paixões, que contava no elenco com Dean Martin (o parceiro do Rat Pack e de Jerry Lewis) e Geraldine Page. Agora, porque eu acho esse um título muito legal, Toys in the Attic será o nome de uma nova sessão do blog Papermau. Two easy-to-build models of Roman landmarks, by Travel & Stuff 4 Kids: Constantine's Arch and the Roman Colosseum. The Roman Colosseum, or Flavian's Amphitheatre, reflects the genius and grandeur of ancient Roman architecture and remains one of Rome's major attractions. Construction on the Colosseum began almost 2,000 years ago during the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in 70 AD. Vespasian never saw the completion of his arena--at the time of his death in 79 AD, construction had reached the third level. The top level was finally finished and inaugurated by Vespasian's son, Titus, in 80 AD. The inaugural games were a spectacle. 9,000 wild animals were slaughtered to the roar of spectators, and the arena was flooded with water to stage mock sea battles. Beside the Roman Colosseum is the Constantine's Arch, a stately arch, 70 feet tall and 84 feet wide. Romanian designer and modeler Svanced, author of this impressive paper model in 1/1 scale of the Barrett Obsidian Beast Rifle, from the videogame Crossfire, says: - "What can I say, the Barrett is my favorite sniper rifle, but this black and red variant is way too awesome looking, so it was worth the time spent to craft this, as for moving parts, the bolt action works and the magazine can be removed... It took me 3 months of total work with around 6-8 hours/day... Foram 3 meses de trabalho, pegando firme de 6 à 8 horas diarias ... My friend Aldo Ross, from USA, built the Greek-Roman Ruins and kindly sent me some photos of his nice work. He said: - "Here are some pictures of my build of the Roman Ruins. I printed it at 40% original size... I added some extra trim along the back of the base to cover the bare white paper where the backdrop photo would normally attach. It is a fun kit, and everyone really likes it, especially the marble texture... This also includes my first attempt at “water”, made from a combination of transparent tape, clear gloss varnish, and clear epoxy media." - "Thanks, Aldo, for the really nice work, the kind words and the photos. It is gratifying to see this model assembled with such care and, moreover in such a tiny scale! I'm very honored and pleased! Meu amigo Aldo Ross, dos EUA, montou as Ruínas Greco-Romanas e gentilmente enviou-me algumas fotos do seu belo trabalho. Ele diz: - "Aqui estão algumas fotos de minha montagem das Ruínas Greco-Romanas. Eu imprimí em 40% do tamanho original ... Adicionei uma guarnição extra na parte de trás da base para cobrir a parte branca aonde deveria ir ocenário de fundo. É um kit muito divertido, e deve agradar a todos, especialmente pela textura de mármore ...
