Make Your Own Mary Rose Pop-Up Papercraft - by The Mary Rose Org

Built in Portsmouth, the Mary Rose was launched in 1511. She sank during an engagement with a French invasion fleet just two kilometres from the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. Before sinking, the Mary Rose saw 34 years of service as Henry VIII’s flagship. She was raised from the seabed in 1982. 

The story of the Mary Rose spans almost 500 years. Approximately 19,000 artefacts have been recovered from the wreck site. Many artefacts have to be kept within environmentally controlled conditions to prevent them disintegrating. 

The members of the crew would have lived, worked and fought in cramped and overcrowded conditions on board. So far, excavations have found the personal remains of many of the crew members. 

The final recorded crew list contained 185 soldiers, 200 mariners and 30 gunners. Most people on board were in their late teens or early twenties. Only about 25 to 30 of the crew survived the sinking.

Construída em Portsmouth, o navio Mary Rose foi lançado ao mar em 1511. Ele afundou durante um confronto com uma frota invasora francesa a apenas dois quilômetros da entrada do porto de Portsmouth. Antes de afundar, Mary Rose serviu por 34 anos sob a bandeira de Henrique VIII. Ele foi resgatado do fundo do mar em 1982. 

A história do Mary Rose abrange quase 500 anos. Aproximadamente 19.000 artefatos foram recuperados no local do naufrágio. Muitos artefatos tem de ser mantidos dentro de condições ambientalmente controladas para evitar que se desintegrem.

Armadillo Paper Toys Collection - Easy-To-Build Animals Paper Toys by Lorenzo Vega

During the pandemic, the graphic designer Lorenzo Vega, from Chile, created this nice series of animals paper toys that are very easy to assemble called "Armadillo", designed to be assembled at home as an activity between parents and children with the intention of entertaining and entertain in a stressful home situation such as quarantine and social distancing. 

Lorenzo said: - “Arma” is Spanish for build, and a literal translation for Armadillo would be “small construction”, so we chose this name to mix the concepts of assembly and animals.

Durante a pandemia, o designer gráfico Lorenzo Vega, do Chile, criou esta simpática série de paper toys de animais bem fáceis de montar chamada "Armadillo", projetados para serem montados em casa como uma atividade entre pais e filhos com a intenção de distrair e entreter em uma situação doméstica estressante, como a quarentena e distanciamento social. 

Lorenzo disse: - “Arma” é espanhol para construir, e uma tradução literal para Armadillo seria “pequena construção”, então escolhemos esse nome para misturar os conceitos de montagem e animais.

British Warship Mary Rose Paper Model In 1/150 Scale - by JT Digest

Preserved and shared by Russian educational website JT Digest, here is a beautiful and detailed 1/150 scale paper model of the British Warship Mary Rose. 

The Mary Rose is the only survivor of 16th century Tudor warships, and is on display at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, after 437 years at the bottom of the sea. Discovered in 1965 by Alexander McKee, it was brought to the surface in 1982. 

Built between 1509 and 1511, she was one of the first ships designed to fire artillery from the sides (embroidered). After a long and successful career, the Mary Rose accidentally sank during an encounter with the French fleet in 1545.

After an accidental rediscovery in 1836, in which part of its armament was recovered, the ship would disappear again for about 140 years. Until it was located again, in 1979, giving rise to one of the largest marine archeology operations in history. In 1982, the portion of the hull (about 40%) that survived the sinking and the weathering of the elements was returned to the surface, along with over 19,000 artifacts. 

The hull is now on display at Portsmouth's historic dock where it was built, allowing visitors an unrivaled view of one of the world's first true warships and the last of those built during the Tudor dynasty, the reach to the present day. The recovered objects, as well as the remains of the crew that were recovered, are in the custody of the Mary Rose Museum, opened in 2013, in the same city.

O Mary Rose é o único sobrevivente dos navios de guerra Tudor do século XVI, e encontra-se em exposição no Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, depois de 437 anos no fundo do mar. O casco encontra-se hoje em exibição na doca histórica de Portsmouth, onde tinha sido construído, permitindo aos visitantes uma visão incomparável de um dos primeiros verdadeiros navios de guerra do mundo e o último, entre os que foram construídos durante a dinastia Tudor, a chegar até aos dias de hoje. Os objetos recuperados, bem como os restos mortais da tripulação que foram recuperados, estão à guarda do Museu Mary Rose, aberto em 2013, na mesma cidade.
