Three years ago, I created this small stone village as a commission for a children's story podcast.
Unfortunately, due to my own fault, the project didn't go ahead and I ended up forgetting about this papercraft.
This week, while going through old files on my hard drive, I ended up finding this small village again.
It was practically finished and so I decided to publish it here on the blog. Maybe someone will find a use for it as a diorama or as wargame accessories.
In the absence of a better name for this papercraft, I decided to call it "The Ancient Stone Village", but it didn't seem like a good name, either in Portuguese or in English.
So I decided to research the Mayan language, more precisely the Yucatec Mayan language, the language spoken mainly on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
I typed in ChatGPT: - "How do you write "The Ancient Stone Village" in Mayan?" - and I got "Nojoch Paakal Tunich", where Nojoch means Ancient, Paakal is Village and Tunich means Stone.
The whole model is very simple, consisting of a base with five stone houses and I managed to arrange everything on four sheets of paper.

Há três anos atrás eu criei este pequeno vilarejo de pedra como uma encomenda para um podcast de histórias infantis.
Infelizmente, por minha culpa, o projeto não foi para frente e eu acabei esquecendo desse papercraft.
Essa semana, mexendo em velhos arquivos em meu HD, acabei reencontrando essa pequena vila.
Ela já estava praticamente pronta e então eu resolvi publicá-la aqui no blog. Talvez alguém ache uso para ela como diorama ou como acessórios para wargames.
Na falta de um nome melhor para este papercraft, resolvi batizá-lo de "O Antigo Povoado de Pedra", mas não me pareceu um bom nome, nem em português, nem em inglês.
Resolvi então pesquisar a língua Maia, mais precisamente a Maia iucateca, a língua falada principalmente na Península de Yucatán, no México.
Digitei no ChatGPT: - "como se escreve "O antigo Povoado de Pedra" em maia? - e recebi "Nojoch Paakal Tunich", sendo que Nojoch significa Antigo, Paakal é Povoado e Tunich Pedra.
O modelo todo é bem simples, composto de uma base com cinco casinhas de pedra e consegui arranjar tudo em quatro folhas de papel.
