Created by the talented German designer and modeler Jens Neuhaus from Papier Denkmal website and consisting of 142 parts arranged on four sheets of paper (plus two instruction sheets), this is the paper model in 1/87 scale (HO scale) of the Forester Stone House in Germany.
Between the cities of Cologne, Bergisch Gladbach and Rösrath, there is an area of 25 square kilometres that is one of the largest nature reserves in the region: The Königsforst is not only home to kingfishers, nuthatches and red kites – Cologne's green lung is also a popular leisure destination.
When entering the forest area from Bergisch Gladbach, the route passes the former forest house Steinhaus. There, an interactive exhibition provides information on the use of resources in the Königsforst, while a café in the inner courtyard serves delicious home-made delicacies.
The building was built in the early 18th century by the St. Severin Monastery in Cologne using greywacke, a type of sedimentary rock composed mainly of quartz grains, feldspar and various rock fragments. This rock forms in rapidly sedimentary environments, such as river deltas or turbid areas, where sediments are rapidly deposited. Due to its durability, greywacke is often used as a building material.
In 1733, the Augustinian hermits took over the property and expanded it in the late Baroque style. When Steinhaus came under the control of the Prussian forestry administration in 1815, it was converted into a service residence, where 13 generations of foresters lived until 2003. Since the 1960s, the building has been a regional architectural heritage site.
In the image below you can see that Mr. Neuhaus has lined the interior of the building with aluminum foil, probably to better reflect any lighting he may install in the model. This lighting can be done safely and cheaply with LED bulbs.

Entre as cidades de Colônia, Bergisch Gladbach e Rösrath, estende-se uma área de 25 quilômetros quadrados que é uma das maiores reservas naturais da região: no Königsforst, não apenas o martim-pescador, o pica-pau-cinzento e o milhafre-real encontram seu lar – o pulmão verde de Colônia também é um popular destino de lazer.
Ao entrar na área florestal a partir de Bergisch Gladbach, o caminho passa pela antiga casa florestal Steinhaus. Lá, uma exposição interativa informa sobre o uso de recursos no Königsforst, enquanto um café no pátio interno oferece deliciosas iguarias caseiras.
O edifício foi construído no início do século XVIII pelo convento de St. Severin, em Colônia, utilizando grauvaque, um tipo de rocha sedimentar composta principalmente por grãos de quartzo, feldspato e fragmentos de rochas variadas.Essa rocha se forma em ambientes de sedimentação rápida, como deltas de rios ou áreas de turbidez, onde há deposição rápida de sedimentos. Quando Steinhaus passou para o controle da administração florestal prussiana em 1815, foi transformado em uma residência de serviço, onde viveram, até 2003, 13 gerações de guardas-florestais. Desde a década de 1960, o edifício é um patrimônio arquitetônico da região.
Na imagem logo acima você pode ver que o Sr. Neuhaus forrou com papel alumínio o interior da construção, provavelmente para refletir melhor a iluminação que por ventura ele venha a instalar no modelo. Essa iluminção pode ser feita de forma segura e barata com lâmpadas de LED.
