The Tomb Of The Mughal Emperor Humayun In India Paper Model
by S.Umekawa & PBS

Created by Japanese designers S.Umekawa and PBS exclusively for Canon website, this is the paper model version of the Humayun's Tomb, also known as the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun.

The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562 AD, and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyath, a Persian architect. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent, and is located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, India, close to the Dina-panah citadel also known as Purana Qila (Old Fort), that Humayun founded in 1533

It was also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, and since then has undergone extensive restoration work, which is still underway.

Besides the main tomb enclosure of Humayun, several smaller monuments dot the pathway leading up to it, from the main entrance in the West, including one that even pre-dates the main tomb itself, by twenty years; it is the tomb complex of Isa Khan Niyazi, an Afghan noble in Sher Shah Suri's court of the Suri dynasty, who fought against the Mughals, constructed in 1547 CE. - Wikipedia

- Wikipedia

The Real Thing
The IBM 5100 Portable Computer was a portable computer introduced in September 1975, six years before the IBM PC. It was the evolution of a prototype called the SCAMP (Special Computer APL Machine Portable) that was developed at the IBM Palo Alto Scientific Center in 1973. In January 1978 IBM announced the IBM 5110, its larger cousin, and in February 1980 IBM announced the IBM 5120. The 5100 was withdrawn in March 1982. When the IBM PC was introduced in 1981, it was originally designated as the IBM 5150, putting it in the "5100" series, though its architecture was not directly descended from the IBM 5100. - Wikipedia

- Wikipedia

Papermau - One Year Today

Little Urban Diorama - First Model Posted
Papermau today celebrates one year of existence. Exactly on June 22, 2011, I did the first of 1930 posts, counting this one. What started as a help in a school project  for my daughter Malú was becoming a fun hobby for me, a place where I can share my own creations and  free paper models of designers from around the world. I made many friends, some others who supported me at first, turned the face to me, ignoring the blog and my models. It does not really affect me, but I'm trying to figure out what I did to displease them. Well, during this year, 1930 posts were made, and every day new free paper designs were posted on the blog. I published 149 exclusive models of my own and more than 2300 free paper models made by designers from around the world. Papermau had a total of  2,194,569  page views, until the time of writing this post, and an average of 269,300 page views monthly, at the time. I think this is a nice number for a blog that began as a search for a school project, and that after one year, thanks to all of you who daily prestige Papermau with visits, comments and suggestions of links (always welcome and appreciated, really!), became a reference for all those who like paper models, papercraft, origami, kirigami, decoupage, and all other names that can give the art of shaping the paper; an art, which for me, first of all, is a great way to relax from the stresses of daily living.

A Great Thank For All Of You!!!
