The Dark Promise - A Menacing Pirate Ship Papercraft by Ray O'Bannon

Composed of 60 pieces spread across 12 printed sheets, this papercraft of an imposing and menacing pirate ship, the Dark Promise, was created by American designer and model maker Ray O'Bannon from the website Raven's Blight. 

Regarding this papercraft, Mr. O'Bannon said: - "Ever daydream of being a pirate? Does the notion of setting sail for the East Indies (and plundering any ships you meet along the way) bring a smile? 

If so, then this paper model should make your inner buccaneer very happy. 

The Dark Promise features ominous black sails, gold-plated hardware, and a nice bright red stripe (said to be painted in human blood)." 

Ray O'Bannon is an artist and designer who creates papercraft models, as well as works with a gothic and steampunk aesthetic. 

He runs the website Raven's Blight, where he offers free paper models, including coffins, steampunk weapons, masks, and haunted buildings. His style is dark yet playful, filled with references to classic horror films. 

In addition to being a designer and papercraft creator, Ray O’Bannon is also a musician and composer. He produces music in the dark ambient, gothic, and alternative rock styles, many of which have an atmospheric feel, reminiscent of classic horror movie soundtracks. 

On Raven’s Blight, he offers many of his songs for free, including full albums and individual tracks. His music perfectly matches the dark universe he explores in his papercrafts and stories. 

He also creates videos and short horror films, reinforcing his macabre and creative identity.

A respeito deste papercraft, o Sr. O'Bannon disse: - "Já sonhou acordado em ser um pirata? A ideia de zarpar para as Índias Orientais (e saquear qualquer navio que encontrar pelo caminho) te faz sorrir?

O Dark Promise apresenta velas negras ameaçadoras, ferragens douradas e uma bela faixa vermelha brilhante (dizem que pintada com sangue humano). 

Ray O'Bannon é um artista e designer que cria modelos de papercraft, além de trabalhos com estética gótica e steampunk. 

Ele mantém o site Raven's Blight, onde disponibiliza modelos gratuitos de papel, incluindo caixões, armas steampunk, máscaras e construções assombradas. O estilo dele é bem sombrio e divertido, cheio de referências a filmes de terror clássicos. Além de designer e criador de papercrafts, 

Ray O’Bannon também é músico e compositor. Ele produz músicas no estilo dark ambient, gótico e rock alternativo, muitas delas com uma pegada atmosférica, lembrando trilhas sonoras de filmes de terror clássicos.

DSV Shinkai 6500 Submersible In Deep Sea Diorama Papercraft by Toshimasa Mitsutake, Ayumu Saito, Craft Pocket And Makoto Shiki

The Japanese designers Toshimasa Mitsutake, Ayumu Saito, Craft Pocket, and Makoto Shiki, in an exclusive collaboration for Canon’s website, created this incredible diorama depicting the Shinkai 6500 submersible exploring the ocean depths, surrounded by some of its characteristic inhabitants. 

The Shinkai 6500 papercraft, designed by Toshimasa Mitsutake, consists of 73 pieces spread across five printed sheets. 

The diorama and deep-sea fish, created by Ayumu Saito, Craft Pocket, and Makoto Shiki, add up to 12 pieces divided into four sheets. 

If you plan to use this diorama for a school project, here are some interesting facts about the Shinkai 6500 and the fascinating marine animals featured in this papercraft. 

The Submersible 

The Shinkai 6500 is a Japanese manned submersible developed by JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). 

Launched in 1989, it can reach depths of up to 6,500 meters, making it one of the deepest submersibles in the world at the time. Its main purpose is to explore the ocean floor for scientific research. 

When it was launched, the Shinkai 6500 was the world’s deepest manned submersible, surpassed only in 2012 by James Cameron’s Deepsea Challenger. 

Its manned capsule, made of titanium, was designed to withstand pressures equivalent to 650 times the atmospheric pressure at sea level. 

It has explored iconic locations such as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the Mariana Trench, contributing to the discovery of new life forms adapted to the extreme conditions of the deep ocean. 

Inhabitants of the Deep 

The Giant Isopod (Bathynomus giganteus) is a marine crustacean that inhabits depths between 170 and 2,140 meters. 

It belongs to the same order as pill bugs (Isopoda), but it has grown to an extreme size due to the phenomenon of deep-sea gigantism, which is common among animals from the deep ocean. 

The Frilled Shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) is a primitive shark, known for its eel-like appearance and its mouth filled with sharp, needle-like teeth. 

It lives in deep waters, usually between 500 and 1,500 meters, and is considered a "living fossil" because it has maintained ancestral traits over millions of years. 

The Giant Squid (Architeuthis dux) is one of the largest invertebrates in the world, reaching up to 14 meters in length. Its giant eyes, about 30 cm in diameter, are the largest in the animal kingdom. 

This mysterious cephalopod lives in deep waters between 300 and 1,000 meters and is rarely seen alive as it avoids light and remains in abyssal regions.

O papercraft do Shinkai 6500, projetado por Toshimasa Mitsutake, é composto por 73 peças distribuídas em cinco folhas impressas. 

Já o diorama e os peixes abissais, criados por Ayumu Saito, Craft Pocket e Makoto Shiki, somam 12 peças divididas em quatro folhas.

O Submersível 

O Shinkai 6500 é um submersível tripulado japonês desenvolvido pela JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology).

Os Habitantes das Profundezas 

O Isópode-Gigante (Bathynomus giganteus) é um crustáceo marinho que habita profundezas entre 170 e 2.140 metros. 

Ele pertence à mesma ordem dos tatuzinhos-de-jardim (Isopoda), mas cresceu de forma extrema devido ao fenômeno do gigantismo profundo, comum entre animais das grandes profundezas oceânicas. 

O Tubarão-Cobra (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) é um tubarão primitivo, conhecido por sua aparência semelhante à de uma enguia e por sua boca repleta de dentes afiados em forma de agulha. 

Vive em águas profundas, geralmente entre 500 e 1.500 metros, e é considerado um "fóssil vivo", pois manteve características ancestrais ao longo de milhões de anos. 

A Lula-Gigante (Architeuthis dux) é um dos maiores invertebrados do mundo, podendo alcançar até 14 metros de comprimento. Seus olhos gigantes, com aproximadamente 30 cm de diâmetro, são os maiores do reino animal. 

Esse misterioso cefalópode habita águas profundas entre 300 e 1.000 metros e raramente é visto vivo, pois evita a luz e permanece em regiões abissais.

Miniature Fox Decorative Low Poly Paper Model - Version II - by Canon

Offered by Canon Japan website, here is the second version of a charming low-poly-style decorative paper model of a fox. 

Previously, Canon had made this model available in a two-color combination. Now, it returns in a new version with a three-color combination. 

Interestingly, and unlike usual, the company did not disclose the name of the designer responsible for this papercraft. 

Low-poly papercraft is a paper art technique that uses simple geometric shapes, such as triangles and polygons, to create three-dimensional models with a modern and minimalist look.

Inspired by the graphic style of low-resolution 3D objects in computing, low poly offers a stylized appearance with clean and faceted lines. 

These projects are popular for their contemporary aesthetic and because, despite their sophisticated appearance, they can be made with accessible materials like paper or cardstock, making them ideal for decoration and creative design.

Oferecido pelo site da Canon Japão, eis aqui a segunda versão de um encantador modelo de papel decorativo em estilo low poly de uma raposa. 

Anteriormente, a Canon já havia disponibilizado este modelo em uma combinação de duas cores. Agora, ele retorna em uma nova versão, com uma combinação de três cores. 

Curiosamente, diferente do habitual, a empresa não divulgou o nome do designer responsável por este papercraft. 

O papercraft em low poly é uma técnica de arte em papel que utiliza formas geométricas simples, como triângulos e polígonos, para criar modelos tridimensionais com um visual moderno e minimalista. 

Inspirado no estilo gráfico de objetos tridimensionais de baixa resolução em computação, o low poly traz um aspecto estilizado, com linhas limpas e facetadas. 

Esses projetos são populares por sua estética contemporânea e porque, apesar de sua aparência sofisticada, podem ser feitos com materiais acessíveis, como papel ou cartolina, sendo ideais para decoração e design criativo.

Two Dancing Cats – A Fun Paper Toy For Kids - by The Toymaker

This adorable paper toy of a dancing kitten couple was created by American artist Marilyn Scott-Waters of The Toymaker. 

Ms. Scott-Waters was also kind enough to share the paper toy in two versions: one in color and one without, allowing children to use their imagination, coloring it however they like and creating something unique. 

She said about this paper toy: - "Here are two little cats to fold and make. When you connect their hands they can dance together." 

Marilyn Scott-Waters is an artist, illustrator and designer known for her charming paper toys and illustrations with a vintage feel. 

Through her website The Toymaker, she offers a variety of free templates to print and assemble, many inspired by fairy tales and playful narratives. 

In addition to her work with paper toys, Marilyn is also the author and illustrator of several books, including The Toymaker’s Christmas: Paper Toys You Can Make Yourself and The Toymaker’s Workshop, in which she combines her artistic talent with her passion for interactive creations. 

Her books feature engaging templates and stories, encouraging children and adults to explore the art of cutting and assembling.

A Sra. Scott-Waters ainda fez a gentileza de compartilhar o paper toy colorido e uma versão sem cores, para que as crianças possam usar a imaginação colorindo do jeito que quiserem e criando algo único.
