Sen and Haku from Miyazaki's Spirited Away papercraft, created by Studio of MM. Spirited Away is a 2001 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. The film tells the story of Chihiro Ogino, a sullen ten-year-old girl who, while moving to a new neighborhood, enters an alternate reality inhabited by spirits and monsters. After her parents are transformed into pigs by the witch Yubaba, Chihiro takes a job working in Yubaba's bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents and escape to the human world. Miyazaki wrote the script after he decided the film would be based on his friend's ten-year-old daughter, who came to visit his house each summer. When released, Spirited Away became the most successful film in Japanese history, grossing over $274 million worldwide. The film overtook Titanic (at the time the top grossing film worldwide) in the Japanese box office to become the highest-grossing film in Japanese history with a $229,607,878 total. In the history, ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino and her parents are traveling to their new home when her father takes a wrong turn. Thinking that they have found an abandoned amusement park, her father insists on exploring and they cross a dry riverbed. While Chihiro's parents eat at an empty restaurant stall, Chihiro finds an exquisite bathhouse. She meets a young boy, Haku, who warns her to return across the river before sunset. However, Chihiro discovers too late that her parents have turned into pigs and she is unable to cross the flooded river, becoming trapped in the spirit world. - Wikipedia

Chihiro é uma menina de 10 anos que está se mudando com sua a família para uma nova casa, quando ao procurarem um lugar para descansar, se perdem. Avistam um parque de diversões abandonado e decobrem um restaurante ao ar livre, com muita comida, mas sem ninguém no loca. Os pais começam a comer, mas Chihiro pressente o perigo e recusa. À medida que a noite avança, Chihiro está aterrorisada por ver em todo a lado caras medonhas de espíritos e formas que se animam... Chihiro corre à procura dos pais e descobre que eles transformaram-se em porcos. Um misterioso rapaz, chamado Haku vai ao encontro de Chihiro e promete-lhe ajuda. Consegue arranjar-lhe um trabalho num edifício perto que acaba por revelar-se como sendo umas instância termal para os milhares de deuses e espíritos japoneses. Apesar de o trabalho ser duro e o ambiente estranho, Chihiro faz o melhor que pode. No entanto, os seus pais continuam no hotel e Chihiro precisa descobrir como quebrar o feitiço urgentemente, antes que eles acabem num prato como refeição de algum dos clientes.

The "Real" Thing

Firefly is an American space western drama television series created by writer and director Joss Whedon, under his Mutant Enemy Productions label. Whedon served as an executive producer, along with Tim Minear. The series is set in the year 2517, after the arrival of humans in a new star system, and follows the adventures of the renegade crew of Serenity, a "Firefly-class" spaceship. The ensemble cast portrays the nine characters who live on Serenity. Whedon pitched the show as "nine people looking into the blackness of space and seeing nine different things". The show explores the lives of some people who fought on the losing side of a civil war and others who now make a living on the outskirts of society, as part of the pioneer culture that exists on the fringes of their star system. In this future, the only two surviving superpowers, the United States and China, fused to form the central federal government, called the Alliance, resulting in the fusion of the two cultures. Firefly é uma série de ficção científica criada pelo escritor/diretor Joss Whedon, criador de Buffy: A Caça Vampiros, Angel e Dollhouse, com sua companhia de produção Mutant Enemy Productions. Seu ambiente futurista naturalista, modelado a partir de temas dos filmes de Western tradicionais, apresenta um cenário de ficção científica atípico para a narrativa. Whedon também trabalhou como produtor executivo, junto com Tim Minear. A história da série se passava no ano de 2517, após a chegada dos humanos em um novo sistema solar, e segue as aventuras da tripulação renegada da Serenity, uma nave espacial classe Firefly. O elenco principal retrata os nove personagens que moram na Serenity. Whedon vendeu a idéia da série como "nove pessoas olhando dentro da escuridão do espaço e vendo nove coisas diferentes". O programa explora as vicissitudes de pessoas que lutaram no lado perdedor de uma guerra civil, e também a cultura pioneira que existe na borda do sistema solar. The Real Thing

This beautiful paper model was created by Japanese designer T.Ichiyama for Canon website. - "With two layers of castle walls in a hexagonal shape with unequal sides, the Tower of London is one of the oldest buildings in London. It was built in 1078 by England's King William I, as a citadel centered on the White Tower and intended as a defense against revolt by the people of London. It was remodeled in various ways over the following 500 years, resulting in its current appearance. Although it housed the royal family until the reign of King James I (1603 to 1625), it was later used as a jail for political prisoners, serving as the scene of numerous historical tragedies including the imprisonment of Queen Elizabeth I and a number of executions. This papercraft model represents the White Tower, one of the 13 towers found within the Tower of London." - Canon

Este belo modelo de papel foi criado pelo designer japonês T.Ichiyama para o site da Canon. A Torre de Londres, mais comumente chamada como Tower of London, é um monumento histórico situado no Centro de Londres, Inglaterra na margem Norte do Tamisa. Fica localizada no Borough de Tower Hamlets e fica separado da margem esquerda da Cidade de Londres por um espaço aberto conhecido como "Tower Hill". A construção da Torre de Londres foi iniciada em 1078 por Guilherme o Conquistador sendo inicialmente uma fortificação nos limites da cidade romana rodeando a Torre Branca, primeiro membro dos 7 hectares que completam a Torre de Londres. Todo o ambiente é repleto de história e influenciado pela sua própria estrutura fisíca. Como exemplo disso temos os assassinatos dos príncipes filhos de Eduardo IV na Torre Sangrenta que recebeu tal nome pela história que atormenta suas paredes. Sua função era residencial até meados do século XVII e, até hoje, possui o papel de abrigar os monarcas que são coroados. Mas a sua função variou com o passar dos séculos, desde palácio para "Sede da Casa da Moeda" a "Mostra dos Animais do Reino". Também serviu como local de execução e tortura. Este último uso levou à frase "sent to the Tower" (mandado para a Torre), que significava ser aprisionado. É também na Torre de Londres que as Joias da Coroa Britânica ficam guardadas em uma camâra subterrânea. Menos valiosa mas igualmente curiosa é a colônia de corvos que habita a Torre e é protegida por decreto real. Segundo a lenda, o império ruirá no dia em que as aves pretas deixarem o lugar. - Wikipedia
