The Ephemeral Museum Meets Halloween Special - Haunted House Pop-Up Card Papercraft - Assembled by Day Caro

This post was only possible thanks to the kindness of writer Dayana Portela, aka Day Caro, who kindly sent me via Instagram the photos of her beautiful montage of this Halloween pop-up style card that can be downloaded for free on the official website of Canon (link at the end of this post). 

The entire model (with the envelope) occupies nine sheets of paper and was created by Japanese designers Kagisippo & Storm Machine Graphics, commissioned by Canon website.

About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. 

I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. 

With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. 

Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years.

I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. 

Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo. 

Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. 

Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos. 

Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:

The Witch's House In The Forest Paper Model - by Papermau Download Now!

This paper model of the Witch's House in the Forest was published here on Papermau only once in 2012, in the first year of the blog. Then, with several changes of computers and hard drives being burned, I thought I had lost the original templates for this model forever. 

But as when things have to be, the way they are, in old dusty boxes I found some CDs and pendrives (I've already talked about this in some posts) and inside one of them there were the original templates and some photos of the assembled model. 

I didn't make any changes to the templates (I just revised and edited them), but I had to use an artificial intelligence program to improve the quality of the photos, since they were old and the resolution was poor. 

This model was entirely made in MsPaint, from the lines and tabs to the application of textures and was created at a time when I had much more time and energy and life was much lighter and easier to live. It seems like we've been living in another world since then, doesn't it?

The whole model fits on three sheets of paper and you will see that there are two facade options, one with monsters and the other without, so just print the sheet with the facade you prefer. 

Most people won't have the patience to assemble the trees, as their leaves have to be cut and glued one by one, but the end result is very satisfactory. An alternative is to leave them bare, as if they were dead trees, since the diorama has a Halloween theme.

Este modelo de papel da Casa da Bruxa na Floresta foi publicado aqui no Papermau uma única vez em 2012, logo no primeiro ano de blog. Depois, com várias mudanças de de computadores e queimas de HDs, eu pensei que havia perdido os templates originais deste modelo para sempre. 

Mas como quando as coisas têm que ser, as coisa são, em velhas caixas empoeiradas eu achei alguns CDs e pendrives (já falei sobre isso em algumas postagens) e dentro de um deles haviam os templates originais e algumas fotos do mmodelo montado. 

Eu não fiz nenhuma alteração nos templates (apenas revisei e redatei), mas tive que usar um programa de inteligência artificial para melhorar a qualidade das fotos, já que eram antigas e a resolução era sofrível. 

Este modelo foi todo feito no MsPaint, desde as linhas e abas até a aplicação de texturas e foi criado em uma época em que eu tinha muito mais tempo e disposição e a vida era bem mais leve e fácil de levar. Parece que vivemos em outro mundo desde então, não é? 

O modelo todo cabe em três folhas de papel e vocÊs verão que há duas opções de fachada, uma com monstros e outras sem, então imprimam apenas a folha com a fachada que preferirem. 

A maioria das pessoas não terão paciência para montar as árvores, já que as folhas delas têm que ser recortadas e coladas uma a uma, mas o resultado final é muito satisfatório. Uma alternativa é deixá-las nuas, como se fossem árvores mortas, já que o diorama é com temática de Dia das Bruxas.

Halloween Special - Pumpkin Spice Kitty And Twilight Stars Kitty Paper Toys - by Magic Bunny Art

Halloween Special - Classic Universal Monsters Poseable Paper Toys by Paper Empire

Here are five articulated paper toys of classic monsters from Universal Studios, all created by the American designer and modeler Chris "The Professor" Spitler, from Paper Empire website. 

You will find the Monster of Frankenstein, The original Gothic zombie superstar; Count Dracula, The dapper dead Transylvanian; the Mummy, the undead Egyptian terror; the Wolf Man, the hairy horror himself and the Phanton of the Opera, the mangled maniacal musician. 

In the same link you will also find two more paper toys, Frankenstein and the Mummy, but in a much simpler style, suitable for children. 

About Chris, I took the liberty of reproducing below the biography he published on his website: 

"Pleased to meet you; so happy you stopped by. I'm Chris Spitler, but around here they call me The Professor. When I'm not teaching Drama and Journalism to Middle School kids, or jamming with various blues bands, I keep myself busy designing paper models. I've been obsessed with this hobby for over a decade, and have made a lot of friends along the way. 

I ran another website in the early 2000s, and met and collaborated with lots of great artists. I took a break for a few years to devote myself to music and teaching, but then this crazy locked-down world brought me back to this awesome hobby as a means to keep my sanity. Up until now, my focus has has been primarily on pop culture subjects drawn from my favorite franchises as both a child and an adult, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.

Halloween Special - Pumpkin And Ghost Pop-Up Card Papercraft by Happy Birthday Project

"It's October and we're in the Halloween mood! I'll show you how to make a pop-up style Halloween card. When opened, a cute little ghost will emerge from a pumpkin!" - Happy Birthday Project 

Anyone can do this easily by downloading the free templates and the best thing is that you won't spend a lot of colored ink to print them, as the idea is to print both sheets in black and white and use colored paper when assembling. 

If it seems confusing, just watch the video tutorial below and I'm sure there will be no doubts left and you will see that it is very easy and fun to put together your own Halloween card in a pop-up style.

Qualquer um pode fazer isso facilmente baixando os templates gratuítos e o melhor é que você não gastará um monte de tinta colorida para imprí-los, já que a idéia é imprimir as duas folhas em preto e branco e usar papel colorido na hora da montagem.
