Huguenot Town Hall Paper Model In 1/65 Scale - by Boris Voigt

My friend, the engineer, designer and modeler Boris Voigt, author of the great educational website Projekt Bastelbogen, created this beautiful paper model in 1/65 scale of a historic building originally located in the city of Neu-Isenburg, in Germany. 

Boris said: - "This building was built in 1702 and demolished in 1876. Many people from Neu-Isenburg want to rebuild this building. 

The city photographer, who works at the city museum, is committed to the association for the reconstruction of this building. He contacted me and asked me to make a paper model of the building to help publicize the project. 

There are also photos of other old buildings on the website."

Meu amigo, o engenheiro, designer e modelista Boris Voigt, autor do ótimo site educacional Projekt Bastelbogen criou este belo modelo de papel na escala 1/65 de um edifício histórico originalmente situado na cidade de Neu-Isenburg, na Alemanha. 

Boris Disse: - "Este prédio foi construído em 1702 e demolido em 1876. Muitas pessoas de Neu-Isenburg querem reconstruir este edifício.  

O fotógrafo da cidade, que trabalha no Museu de Neu-Isenburg, está empenhado na associação para a reconstrução desse edifício. Ele me contatou e pediu que fizesse um modelo de papel do prédio para ajudar na divulgação do projeto.

Medieval English House With Thatched Roof Paper Model - by Stasma

I do not know Stasma's nationality, but I know he's a great 3D designer who posts his work on the Turbosquid platform. 

This English House with Thatched Roof is a free paper model, but in order to download it you have to register in Turbosquid, which is fast and also free. When you access the download page, you will find several files to download, all of which are viewed with 3D programs such as 3D Max, Autodesk, Maya, 3D Studio, etc. 

One of them has the .OBJ termination. This is what we need to be able to print the paper template. It can be opened with the free version of Pepakura Viewer. 

If you do not have Pepakura Viewer installed on your computer, you will find a link to download it at the end of this post.

Eu não sei qual a nacionalidade de Stasma, mas eu sei que ele é um ótimo designer 3D que publica seus trabalhos na plataforma Turbosquid. 

Esta Casa Inglesa com Telhado de Palha é um modelo gratuíto, mas para baixá-la você tem que registrar-se no Turbosquid, o que é rápido e também gratuíto. Quando você acessar a página de downloads, vai encontrar vários arquivos para baixar; todos eles são visualizados com programas 3D, tais como 3D Max, Autodesk, Maya, 3D Studio, etc. 

Um deles tem a terminação .OBJ. Este é o que precisamos para poder imprimir o modelo de papel. Ele pode ser aberto com a versão gratuíta do Pepakura Viewer.

This Roman Temple paper model was created by my friend, the great French designer and modeler Secanda. About this model he says:

- "This is the famous Roman temple of the Augustus time at Nîmes in Southern France: the so-called "Maison Carrée". This exceptionally well preserved temple was erected at the beginning of 1st century for the imperial cult. This temple was dedicated to the two adoptive sons of Augustus (in reality they were his grandsons) Caius and Lucius, to strengthen the future of the dynasty but they both died before their grandfather...

As my other architectural models, the scale is 1/100. The model has a removable roof and needs 21 sheets A4 to print. Note that two elements don't follow the reality of the present building:

#1. I added the inscription of dedication (to Caius and Lucius, the Augustus's grandsons) at its original place on the building's front. In the reality the bronze letters have disappeared (only the holes of the letters remain) and the complete inscription was restituted on a low wall near the building, not on it.

#2. I added the three statues of Augustus, Lucius and Caius inside the cella. It's pure fantasy because without archaeological remainings but it's very probable they were presented in a rather near way. However they are not to glue, it's just an option to populate a few the nude inside space of the cella.

Este modelo de papel de um Templo Romano foi criado pelo meu amigo, o grande designer e modelista francês Secanda. Sobre esse modelo ele diz:

- "Este é o famoso templo romano da época de Augusto em Nîmes, no sul da França: o chamado "Maison Carrée". Este templo excepcionalmente bem preservado foi erguido no início do século I para o culto imperial. Este templo foi dedicado aos dois filhos adotivos de Augusto (na verdade eles eram seus netos) Caius e Lucius, para fortalecer o futuro da dinastia, mas ambos morreram antes de seu avô ...

Como meus outros modelos de arquitetura, a escala deste é de 1/100. O modelo tem um teto removível e precisa de 21 folhas A4 para imprimir. Note que dois elementos não seguem a realidade do edifício real:

#1. Eu adicionei a inscrição da dedicação (para Caius e Lucius, os netos de Augusto) em seu lugar original na frente do edifício. Na realidade as letras de bronze desapareceram (apenas os nichos permanecem) e a inscrição completa foi restituída em um parede perto do edifício, não sobre ele.

#2. Eu adicionei as três estátuas de Augusto, Lucius e Caius dentro do cella. É pura fantasia porque não há vestígios arqueológicos, mas é muito provável que eles tenham sido apresentados de uma forma bastante próxima. Contudo estas estátuas são opcionais, para preencher alguns dos espaços no interior da cella.

It's been a long time since I've seen so many high quality architectural paper models put together in one place! I have great pleasure in presenting here on the blog the work of my new friend, the French designer and modeler Secanda. Although he is very modest and does not agree, I believe his models have the quality of the best paid architectural paper models available on the web.
He said: - "Secanda means "stuff to cut" in Latin language. I use just an old basic multilayer photo editor, that I use as a paper with pencil and compass. I don't use 3D editors because first I don't know at all how to use them and then I don't like very much the paper models made only with 3D tools. For my taste, they look often as nightclub mirror balls... For my taste again, it's better to feel the hand of the drawer even if the result is rougher and less perfect. However the real reason is maybe I'm too lazy or too stupid or too old, or the three in the same time, to learn how to use a 3D editor."

Já faz tempo que eu não via tantos modelos de papel arquitetônicos de alta qualidade reunidos em um só lugar! Eu tenho muito prazer em apresentar aqui no blog o trabalho de meu novo amigo, o designer e modelista francês Secanda. Embora ele seja muito modesto e não concorde, eu creio que seus modelos tem a qualidade dos melhores modelos de papel arquitetônicos pagos disponíveis na web.

Ele disse: - "Secanda significa "coisas para cortar" em latim. Eu uso apenas um velho editor de fotos básicas multicamadas, que uso como papel, lápis e compasso. Eu não uso editores 3D porque primeiro eu não sei como usá-los e eu não gosto muito dos modelos de papel feitos apenas com ferramentas 3D. Para o meu gosto, eles parecem frequentemente com bolas espelhadas de discoteca ... Na minha opinião novamente, é melhor sentir a mão no desenho, mesmo se o resultado for mais rude e menos perfeito. No entanto, a verdadeira razão é que talvez eu seja muito preguiçoso ou muito estúpido ou muito velho, ou os três ao mesmo tempo, para aprender como usar um editor 3D."

Dome Of The Rock Of Jerusalem Paper Model - by Secanda

This is the Dome of the Rock of Jerusalem, the newest paper model created by my friend, the French designer and modeler Secanda. The Dome of the Rock is an Islamic shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. It was initially completed in 691–92 CE at the order of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik during the Second Fitna on the site of the Second Jewish Temple, destroyed during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE. The original dome collapsed in 1015 and was rebuilt in 1022–23. The Dome of the Rock is in its core one of the oldest extant works of Islamic architecture. - You will find many other unique paper models there, as can be seen on the images of this post.

Some curiosities about Secanda and his creative process, in his own words: - "Secanda means "stuff to cut" in Latin language. Esta é a Cúpula da Rocha em Jerusalém, o mais novo modelo de papel criado por meu amigo, o designer e modelista francês Secanda. A Cúpula da Rocha é um templo situado no monte do Templo, na Cidade Velha de Jerusalém, construído no século VII, sendo um dos sítios mais sagrados do Islã e uma das grandes obras da arquitectura islámica. Sua vistosa cúpula dourada é um dos pontos mais emblemáticos da cidade. O santuário é parte integrante do centro histórico de Jerusalém, declarado Patrimônio da Humanidade pela UNESCO em 1981. - Você vai encontrar muitos outros modelos exclusivos lá, como pode ser visto nas imagens deste post.

Iglesia San Juan Bautista De Baños De Cerrato Paper Modelby Secanda Models

This is the Iglesia San Juan Bautista de Baños de Cerrato, the newest paper model created by my friend, the French designer and modeler Secanda. You will find many other unique paper models there, as can be seen on the images of this post. Secanda said:

Hi Mauther,

I added a new paper model in my website. This model is the "Iglesia San Juan Bautista de Baños de Cerrato" (1/100 scale - 11 A4 sheets). This very old church is one of the main pre-Romanesque architectural treasures of Spain. It's a church of the Visigothic time (i.e. the time in Hispania between the end of the Roman Empire and the Muslim invasion) and it's the only building among the very few buildings remaining from this time whose the building date (more exactly the consecration date) is known with precision: 661. A consecration plate with this date was put in the nave above the main arch by the Visigoth king Receswinthe. The two lateral chapels and the aisles was modified during the Gothic time but the whole nave, its arches and the choir remain intact from the Visigothic time and are a rare and precious testimony to this time. These inner parts being the most interesting parts of this building, I reproduced them with details and I fitted the model with removable roofs to see them. Oi Mauther,

Eu adicionei um novo modelo de papel no meu site. Este modelo é a "Iglesia San Juan Bautista de Baños de Cerrato" (escala 1/100 - 11 folhas A4). Esta igreja muito antiga é um dos principais tesouros arquitetônicos pré-românicos da Espanha. É uma igreja da época visigótica (ou seja, a época na Hispânia entre o fim do Império Romano e a invasão muçulmana) e é o único edifício entre os poucos remanescentes desta época cuja data de construção (mais exatamente a data de consagração) é conhecido com precisão: 661. Uma placa de consagração com esta data foi colocada na nave acima do arco principal pelo rei visigodo Receswinthe. As duas capelas laterais e os corredores foram modificados durante a era gótica, mas a nave inteira, os seus arcos e o coro permanecem intactos desde a época visigótica e são um testemunho raro e precioso desta época. Estas partes internas são as partes mais interessantes deste edifício, e eu as reproduzi com detalhes e eu ajustei o modelo com telhados removíveis para que você possa vê-los.
