1975`s IMSAI 8080 Micro Computer Paper Model - by Rocky Bergen

Rocky Bergen is a Canadian industrial designer and creator of this very well done miniature paper model of the IMSAI 8080, an early microcomputer released in late 1975, based on the Intel 8080 and later 8085 and S-100 bus. It was a clone of its main competitor, the earlier MITS Altair 8800. The IMSAI is largely regarded as the first "clone" microcomputer. The IMSAI machine ran a highly modified version of the CP/M operating system called IMDOS. It was developed, manufactured and sold by IMS Associates, Inc. (later renamed IMSAI Manufacturing Corp). In total, between 17,000 and 20,000 units were produced from 1975 to 1978.

At delivery in October 1987, Commodore announced that the Amiga 500 would carry a US$699/£499 list price. In Europe, the Amiga 500 was released in May 1987. Rocky Bergen is a Canadian industrial designer and creator of this very well done miniature paper model of the IBM 5100 Portable Computer, a portable computer (one of the first) introduced in September 1975, six years before the IBM Personal Computer. It was the evolution of a prototype called the SCAMP (Special Computer APL Machine Portable) that was developed at the IBM Palo Alto Scientific Center in 1973. In January 1978, IBM announced the IBM 5110, its larger cousin, and in February 1980 IBM announced the IBM 5120. The 5100 was withdrawn in March 1982.

It is the first model in a series of computers which were produced until Apple IIe production ceased in November 1993. The Apple II marks Apple's first launch of a personal computer aimed at a consumer market – branded towards American households rather than businessmen or computer hobbyists.

Instead, they used varying communication methods defined on a company-by-company basis. The 88-pound MTA phone (in the photo below), shown here, is typical in size and weight of early mobile phone systems from the pre-integrated-circuit era. Most were so heavy and power-hungry that they required permanent installation in a car or other vehicle. Very few people owned, used, or even encountered such devices; for example, the service for the model shown here existed in only two Swedish cities and served a mere 125 subscribers from 1956 to 1967. Para lembrar a data, nada melhor que um modelo de papel do primeiro celular realmente móvel inventado no mundo: o Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, um verdadeiro tijolo, que pesava quase um quilo. Eu disse realmente móvel porque o primeiro aparelho celular mesmo foi a Ericson quem criou.

O Primeiro Celular da História - Há meio século, precisamente no dia 16 de outubro de 1956, era criado o primeiro celular, aquela época conhecido como sistema automático de telefonia móvel ou MTA como ficou conhecido. O equipamento, inventado pela Ericsson, era bem diferente dos pequenos aparelhos portáteis de hoje, ainda que com a mesma funcionalidade. De início, a telefonia móvel era sinônimo de comunicação por meio de rádios, operando na faixa dos 160MHz, instalados em automóveis, barcos, etc. O aparelho MTA pesava nada mais, nada menos que 40 kilos. - www.mdig.com.br

O DynaTAC 8000X foi anunciado oficialmente pela Motorola em 1983, e custou uma média de 15 anos de pesquisas e U$ 100 milhões para a empresa. O aparelho pesava uma base aproximada de 800g (quase 100 vezes mais que os aparelhos atuais!) e era vendido por cerca de U$ 4.000,00, apesar de contar apenas com recurso de voz e ter capacidade para apenas 1 hora de conversação.

Created by British designer Philip Lawrence, from Action Figure Theatre website, this diorama papercraft represents the sceneries of "Image of the Fendahl", a four parts special episode from Doctor Who, the classic sci-fi British series. Image of the Fendahl is the third serial of the 15th season of Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in four weekly parts on BBC1 from 29 October to 19 November 1977. The serial is set in an English priory. In the serial, the cultist Max Stael (Scott Fredericks) transforms the scientist Thea Ransome (Wanda Ventham) into an ancient gestalt alien called a Fendahl. The Doctor and Leela battle the return of the Fendhal. - These dioramas/playsets are perfect for 5" action figures.
